Michigan native here.
During the winter, people actually drive around the island on snowmobiles lol
The lakes are usually frozen (not this winter) and there are 2-3 feet of snow on the ground. So people snowmobile from Mackinaw city/St Ignace to Mackinac Island
In the summer, you have to take Shepards Ferry to get to the island. People mostly use bikes and horse buggies.
2:27 so much humor ha ha ha i really enjoyed it more than the video topic
4:10 - Christopher Reeve was absolutely not the first actor to portray Superman. That would be Kirk Alyn, THIRTY years earlier in 1948. George Reeves played Superman in 1951 as well. Both of them were before Christopher Reeve was even born.
No one:
Michigan: *Hey why don't we ban cars on highways?*
Useless nobody
Nothing Look who's talking.
@@syrialak101 Imagine sticking up for the most irrelevant meme format out there
I like that your calculations to figure out 80% + 20% work out. Smoooth.
"Why Highway Where Cars Are Banned"
It’s says “The Highway Where Cars Are Banned”.
Liam Walsh The original title + title in the push notification said the former.
Aowwl I know I was correcting the mistake in the title.
Honestly a really cool video, I’ve been to Mackinac multiple times and it’s such an enjoyable environment there (other the roads because horses tend to leave something on the roads)
When Half As Interesting runs out of topics to talk about in 2050, he’ll start making videos like: “Why am I eating soap?”
Because I can't drive
HAI: The Highway Where Cars are Banned
Michiganders: We're Four Parallel Universes Ahead Of You
HAI: *misspells title*.
Everyone: "Oh look, he made another mistake"
HAI: "What mistake?"
The only mistake he ever made was living in Edinburgh and talking about the Second Amendment.
@@AVeryRandomPerson Because being an American citizen currently living in another country means you can't have an opinion on your country's policies? Better tell all those ambassadors and especially the military servicemen and women.
@pintpullinggeek I was trying to point out that the comments found it controversial.
@@pintpullinggeek He said "talking about the Second Amendment", not "having an opinion on the Second Amendment". Stating an opinion on that is bound to get you conflict no matter what said opinion is.
Washington Highway 339 is like that. It runs from the Seattle Waterfront to Vashon Island. It was a legal justification for the Vashon Foot Ferry while it was operated by Washington State Ferries.
0:57 Wait! Doctors don't do that to their hair since they are professionals.
lol i’ve been on this road before, it’s an indeed popular tourist attraction in michigan, nearly everyone i’ve met has been there
I find it ironic that they ban cars, yet have an airport on the island.
The same applies to several of the East Frisian Islands
Aand - whats ironic about this? The reason for the ban is, Spoiler alert, that people got scared of them back in the day..
@@connectingwings7212 "I don't like those newfangled horseless carriages, how do they move? SATAN? Its way too dangerous, they're going to kill everyone! Oh whats that? A massive car that can FLY???? *Well howdy ho that makes all the difference! Nothing can ever go wrong with a machine powered by GOD* "
Mike Fuquay during the winter snowmobiles are also incredibly common!
@@CheapskateMotorsports You're actually not that wrong with "It's way too dangerous, they're going to kill everyone?" 😂
The car is the mode of transport, that is responsible for the most fatalities per kilometre. Every year, more than 30.000 people die in the US due to crashes of cars
I’m glad you actually pronounced Mackinaw correctly. Lots of people don’t pronounce it right and it really ruffles the Michigan residence feathers.
Well, you got one thing right, you "shouldn't have said that".
"... and people in carriages don't like crashing into things which is what tends to happen when the horses they're attached to gets scared."

Who here thought of Mackinac Island when they clicked on the video?

I'm from Michigan and was there in 2016. I had a feeling that's what it was.
Daniel V I’m from NY but I also visited in 2016 I believe with a family friend’s family
I fall asleep so often to RUclips that auto play kicks in and I wake up to HAI or Wendover 90% of the time...the other 10% is HIM.
By the transitive property:
Unpredictable are also highways
Unpredictable is life
Highways are life
I can't tell you how happy I was that he said mackinac correctly!!
ok i love this channel but, seriously, the puns are so packed they're getting in the way of what the video is about
The car where highways are banned: *nervous sweating*
Why Highway Where Cars are Banned
- Original Title
Quarter as interesting: The Grand Hotel also owns a few trucks. And it's local airport is Pellston, which is much more expensive to fly to than South Bend.
Us: "are you going to explain what's going on here?"
HAI guy: "hold on I need to tell 4 or 5 more shitty jokes to make this video not 30 seconds long."
Also HAI guy: "the answer isn't even that interesting and this channel is almost running purely on clickbait."
Rob it’s pretty interesting
U mad?
It is half as interesting
And yet you watched it and then commented, meaning RUclips will recommend more of his videos to you because you are engaging with them. Kind of making a rod for your own back there friend.
@@pintpullinggeek I'm subscribed to this channel and his other channel. Am I not allowed to share my opinion about declining quality?
