  • A quick look at how to purchase tickets for the Montreal Metro System, as well as how to enter and exit the paid zone of the Metro. This is a pretty basic video but I hope it can be helpful to a few visitors to Montreal in the future. Bon voyage!

Love it! Thanks so much. I would just add that they should hold on to their ticket until their ride is completed and they leave the station - because if they throw out the card, and they get stopped by the metro security - they have no proof of payment and can get a hefty fine. They can also use the same ride on metro to transfer onto buses if it's within 90 minutes of the start of their ride.

I’m really confused about all the fare zones and let’s say how to buy a pass for three days for both Montreal and Laval. I didn’t see that anywhere on the machine

I recommend to buy a rechargeable card. You can put ANY ticket on this card. If it is a single use fare, a daily pass, 3 day pass, week pass, monthly pass. Or you will end up with many l'occasionelles. I did this mistake when I moved to Montreal. I recommend to buy a pass according to the length of your stay in Mtl. The rechargeable is good for 4 years.

Nice video. I rode the Montreal Metro several months ago and used cash . I put a $5 bill in the slot and got my ticket and coins in change.

Can you pay using credit card without needing to buy tickets? And do you need to tap out?

  • @serendigity

Very helpful thank you. All public transport services world wide should make these sorts of informational videos.

Super helpful!! I was wondering if it was similar to the NYC metro - which it is. Once you know where to last stations are, it's super easy. Thanks for the great video 😁
