  • I was invited to ride the Montreal REM (Réseau express métropolitain) on July 28th, 2023 - just before it was opened to the general public. This allowed me to film in the brand new train and stations without large crowds of people. I hope you enjoy this video... exciting times for Montreal :)

Congratulations Montreal. Well done! I really like the look of the trains and the stations. It's also good to see them use the additional security platform doors. Is this train considered heavy rail like a subway or a light rail line?
However, there is one thing I didn't see and that was any artwork within the stations.
Los Angeles Metro recently opened three new light rail stations and there is some wonderful artwork that is permanently part of all three stations. Though LA's Metro has a history of including artwork on their stations.

Its considered light rail, I believe. But automation means that the number of trainset per hour is shortened. Total number of passengers per hour per direction approaches the capacity of the the main line. During offhours, they will only use 2 car trainsets. During busy times, using 2 - 2 car trainsets, ie 4 cars.

    2. Why are the only people taking it influencers ?

I can't speak for influencers, but I'm sure many other Montrealers and Quebecers (and I'm sure many other Canadians and other Americans and visitors from around the world [🌎] who happened to be in Montréal) are singing the praises 🎶 🎵 of the brand new REM (not the rock band) light metro train and system.

This is a partial opening of the line. The other branches will open over the following 4 years.
There are also probably reserves to build other stations online.
As for the fact that they were guests, that was the case on Friday...but on weekends it was open to all and free, within the limit of the available load.

@@kalron0780 well judging from the Laval metro extension, the first week it got completely insane and it never stopped since then, so much so that in the morning there is never any room for the people in Montreal to get into the metro, they have to wait sometimes 3 or 4 metros to get in.
