Gulmarg is indeed a very beautiful place to visit but precautions and awareness before going to any place is a must !
That's why, In today's video, I am going to tell you my experience of Gulmarg and all the necessary details about taxis, Snow boots, jackets and majorly about gondola ride such as how to book it? The best time to do the ride and also the scams to avoid in Gulmarg.
1. Snow Boots & Jackets :
• There is a place named Tangmarg from where you can buy snow boots and jacket.
• Try to bargain in the prices as much as you can.
2. Taxis :
• There are different unions of Taxis in Srinagar, Gulmarg and Sonmarg.
• There is a distance of 1 Km from the entry gate of Gulmarg till gondola ride, so you can walk till there.
• Cost of taxi from on side - Rs.400
• Cost of Whole package ( includes sightseeing & pickup & drop off at gondola ride ) - Rs.2000
3. Gondola Ride
• Cost of Phase 1 & Phase 2 - Rs.800 & Rs.1000
• Always book the tickets 1 month earlier.
• There are 3 slots of timings and If you miss your slot by mistake then you can also do the ride in another slot by buying the tickets there.
• Phase 1 tickets are required to book the tickets of Phase 2
• If your ride gets cancelled then you will be refunded in 7 days
• Children under the age of 3 years are allowed to do the ride at Phase 2 as the height is around 13,500 ft. Above sea level
• Asthma & Heart Patients are also not allowed to do the ride at Phase 2.
4. Scams in Gulmarg
• Prices of snow boots & jackets will be very high, so bargain as much as you can
• If you are doing pony ride instead of gondola ride, then bargain in the prices there as well
• Do not take your driver with you to buy something to avoid commissions
• Avoid Guides if it's not that important and you can visit all the places by yourself
• Avoid staying in Gulmarg as the prices are very high. You can stay in Tangmarg or can back to Srinagar as well.
5. Difference between booking the gondola ride by yourself & by the agency
• By Yourself
- Hectic due to regular checking
- Trouble in cancelling the tickets
- No GST
- Need to manage all by yourself
• By Agency
- No need of regular checking
- Easy cancellation of Tickets
- You have to pay GST
- They will manage all the things for you
