Being able to afford something is different that wanting to shell the money for it. No matter what these people tell you, they're still just pixels. Pro players are better off investing their money on real property or investment than gambling on game skins.

Also just to clarify, its not just whales lending out things. While it is a bit hard nowadays to get into the discord theres plenty of people in there who just have a passion for collecting unique stuff that isnt insanely expensive as well.

I was asking myself how young players who are said to have no money when they start, they go pro and suddenly have all the skins in pro matches, thank you !
The thing that was not said but that is very important: As a collector it can also be profitable as you can add sentimental value to the skin, cuz sure there can be more of the same case hardened crafts, but with THIS one s1mple has clutched and won the Major (or whatever cool scenario). That skin then picks up more value than just the "average" market value.
Lending is super fun! Another cool thing about lending is most of the time the pro player adds you on steam which allows you to flex even more. I lended to W0nderful for Copenhagen so that was fire. Hopefully Fl4mus wins this year so I can keep my 100% major winner lend status.
Who remembers the OG days where gambling sites would lend pros skins, with a nametag to that was an url to the site. Cause the HUD on the mainstream was just the ingame hud so everyone saw the item names. 😉

only t1 pros with big orgs have the privilege to borrow these skins. If you're an amateur or a t2/t3 pro most likely you get skins 1-3k range while a person like zywoo can ask for a 100-1m skin and it'll be fine.

theScore esports missed the real reason why this is being done, idk if it's cause they didn't realize it or because they thought they covered it well enough or because that was part of the agreement for how they got the info they did. The big reason why collectors would want to do this is because it increase the value of their skin, in the same way that having a "game-worn jersey" increases the value of that jersey the same goes with these skins. My question is are we going to see Valve crack down on it? Because I think that if we see these skins going on market frequently we very well might see that since technically Valve doesn't approve of third party sales of skins even if we all know they happen, and they're able to be tracked. We could see a business being started by a third party where they arrange deals between players and collectors where the collectors will pay players to use their skins for a major with the hope that that skin is involved in a notable part of that tournament (say it's the glock skin a player used when they won a major, or even something like the scout skin used for olofmeister's boost an event like that) which will increase the value of that skin and they'll see a return on investment when they sell that skin. It might not be happening now but I'm sure there are already shady people out there looking for how they can profit off of something that seems rather wholesome.

Those "anyones" who's just a casuals are NOT the target audience of the skins lenders. They target other rich people, who are, presumably, either a part of rich community already or have money AND a passion needed for this skins and prices. Some people,who are not looking to resell, want to cement the legacy of their own skin, if a pro player makes an insane highlight, which is gonna be posted everywhere from twitter to a fragmovies. Stuff that costs six figures +. Most of kenny's items cost around 2k each so prob not borrowed. Pros still have their own skins that they use. But when we're looking at super rare skins like blue gems, or kato crafts, it's prob borrowed from a skin collector.

Its both, for majors and big events theres 1 channel where pros will ask for skins and 1 where collectors can offer up skins for any pro to borrow.
