On the small areas of this trim I didn't need to stretch of mold the vinyl at all it laid down flat and smooth. however I normally just heat up the finished vinyl just to get that adhesive warm and settled... on bigger pieces such as hoods /roofs .etc I definitely use my heat gun!
Thank you!.. and Ive thought about that. and I think I going to end up buying a 4" thick strip and using that! I'll put the overlap seam at the top of the grille where you can't really see it
So being that the trim pieces are so small it would'a been more difficult for me to keep it in place when pulling, and having to use the Wrap cut on both sides of the trim I would of used a significant amount that I didn't want to. lol aka personal preference
Thanks for the excellent video. Can this vinyl wrap be used on the black plastic trim such as the trim located on the doors, around the side mirrors and the long plastic trim pieces that are on either side of the rear window? While I'm sure it varies depending on location and weather conditions as well as if one keeps the vehicle covered or it's always in the elements, such as constant exposure to sun and rain I'm curious as to how often this process would have to be repeated/replaced? I like this process and I'm thinking strongly of trying it because as stated, to have the pieces replaced is costly. I almost didn't mind paying for the pieces but the cost to remove/replace them was waaaaay stupid. Heck I already own the car, I'm not trying to rebuy it.
Depends on the surface finish in my opinion... if its a smooth plastic, and you clean it really good so all oil, wax, and contaminants are off, im sure it will stick good. But you're 100% correct in that weather and storage conditions and vinyl care play a lot in the longevity of the wrap. its hard to estimate due to those factors.... But here in AZ where summers can hit over 120° F and its dry heat, I get about 2 - 3 years before I replace mine.
you don't necessarily have to use the Heat gun if its hot outside. But the warmer the adhesive is on the vinyl the sticker it is. You could use the sun too if your outside that will warm things up. But I just always make sure I have, 1. A clean surface and 2. warm Vinyl.
Short answer is, "Depends", because a lot of factors play apart in the longevity of these wraps. so the range can be as broad as 2 years to 10 years. but as a data point. My fusion which I would daily drive and it would be parked in the AZ sun all day at work with 115°F days, It lasted about 2 years... But my wife Jaguar which is garage kept and driven maybe 4 to 8 days out of the month. that should easily last at least 7 years.
Holding up great!.. the Jag is garage kept and not driven too much so it should last many many years!... and honestly in my experience the 3M brand wrap has been the easiest to install and the most forgiving 👌
I can’t wait to do this to mine. My vehicle is silver so I was happy to see how it turned out in something the same color. Thanks for the video. I can’t afford 3m so I am going to be using the cheapest vinyl. I hope it comes out looking as good.
Thanks for the vid! I think tape before might help reduce the concern of scratching the paint. That said it was cool to see how your car came out. Happy New Year!!
Thank you! most definitely.. Actually I just bought some plastic razors online to eliminate the paint scratch risk! Soon I'll test them out when I black out the trim on my Fusion! Happy New year as well!
Dude... aluminum is not magnetic. ;-)
Can you link where you got the vinyl?
i guess Im kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good website to watch new movies online ?
@Marcus Nash I use FlixZone. You can find it on google =)
Great video, what size vinyl did you use for the rear window trim? Thanks
Looks sharp Boss! Is there a reason why you didn't use a heat gun?

Your wife car looks good! Love the ease of doing. Will use link if I decide to tackle!
FANTASTIC Job sir!! If you wrap that chrome on the grille, are you going to buy one giant sheet or piece together narrow strips?
Thank you!.. and Ive thought about that. and I think I going to end up buying a 4" thick strip and using that! I'll put the overlap seam at the top of the grille where you can't really see it
You should do the doorhandles next that would really set it off
How many feet wide did you use for the back part small window
It was about 2 feet wide and 1.5ft tall..... I usually give myself a few inches slack on all sides
What is the size of the large cut
Was there a reason that you didn’t go with knifeless tape on that back quarter window?
So being that the trim pieces are so small it would'a been more difficult for me to keep it in place when pulling, and having to use the Wrap cut on both sides of the trim I would of used a significant amount that I didn't want to. lol aka personal preference
@@EverythingAvron can’t argue with personal preference! I’ve found that a little bit of heat keeps the vinyl on the trim.
Do you have a close up (real time speed) clip of how you did the short piece of chrome just past the mirror on the bottom trim?
I do not unfortunately.. but it was very delicate procedure. and I had to use toothpicks and thin razors to make it happen

@@EverythingAvron Greetings & hank you ever so much for replying & offering up the much needed info.
Much much thanx...
How long would you say this took you?
Hey Avron, did you take of the mirrors to get below mirrors on the front doors?
Do you not have to use a heat gun? And how long will this last with weather and washes?

What do you recommend to use when pushing the vinyl behind/under the rubber trim abutting the chrome...I'd hate to get into it and rip it. Thanks!!
It's tough plastic won't hurt it
Looks great. How well does it hold up?
Looks so much nicer great job!
How long did it take you to do this?
I’m not sure if it’s better in this application but I know adhesion promoter is very different than ipa.
I bet it would work great! im just to cheap to buy the adhesion promoter lol
How long do these vinyl wraps last takin into consideration with different weather conditions (Snow, Heat ,Rain ,Cold)?

Can you share the link to the sheet and rolls of vinyl? There are a ton of them out there. It's been a few months, how is it holding up?
Got you! just put up the link in my description field 👍
How has this held up?
So far so good!... we keep the Jag clean. and its garaged kept. So it should easily last several years under these conditions.
Hey man how is the wrap holding up?? should i buy the wrap you used for my own chrome delete ?
Holding up great!.. the Jag is garage kept and not driven too much so it should last many many years!... and honestly in my experience the 3M brand wrap has been the easiest to install and the most forgiving 👌
What would bring your excellent work out even more is if you put black vinyl on the door knobs
Hey did u use water when you applied it to smooth it out better?
Nope no water needed. The 3M Vinyl is excellent when it comes to laying down smooth and simplicity of pushing out any bubbles.
@@EverythingAvron thanks man u gave me the confidence to do it myself and save some cash, you have a new subscriber
@@walterlopez151 Was it easy? Can you give some tips perhaps?
Thanks for your vid and including the sourcing info in the description mate. Looking forward to blacking out the chrome on my 2022 outlander!
No problem!! thanks for watching! I know it will turn out awesome!
Nice, wished I new about wrapping before I plastidipped my trim.
its never too late.. Plastidip peels off pretty good when it was recently applied.

Did you ever get a vinyl? And which did purchase and how did it work
Great job, brah... I'm gonna be doing the same thing to my wife's 2019 Jeep Cherokee.
Perfect!
Is it still on there a year later? And will a car wash remove it?
Sure is!.... the Jag is garage kept so it will last years and years👍
Excellent video 👍
What size vinyl did you use for the back portion?
I believe I used a 2ft X 2Ft 6in
Is it still holding?
Still holding up perfect... The Jag is garaged kept and mainly a weekend driver. So it will last years and years.👍
Fire 🔥
Excellent instruction man!
Looks good
thanks!
Nice vid.. And music. Thank you, can do this myself
Thank you! No problem 👍
@@EverythingAvron how has this application held up over time?? How about in inclimate weather?
nooooooo... never use any alcohol above 70%!!! it can damage anything it touches! use 70% or even use the dollar store 50% alcohol.
louder so those in the back can hear...
😂
Looks great,, nice job!
It's aluminium... Aluminium isn't magnetic
wow nice. Lucky wife. Nice guy!
