As Angie put it “Dominik was never meant to be a hero. He’s a villain.” It’s hard to know or accept that as a wrestler’s father, though, so I understand Rey making him face first. Good Dominik is very comparable to Roman in his shield days: a lackluster character being lead by great ones. For Roman, Seth and Dean, and for Dom, Rey and Edge. One heel turn brought MAD success to them both. They just couldn’t be heroes, so they embraced villainy.

The long mullet hairstyle, the big moustache and the nuclear heat he gets every week from the fans which to me is on radioactive level has been incredible. However, as a heel, he can be just as big but as the complete opposite to what his father is. Build his own legacy outside of Rey's shadow. He is already one of the top heels in the biggest wrestling company in the World. He's very much on his way, he just needs to keep growing and evolving.

Clearly he was green as hell for the main roster but even in that months-long feud with Rollins he developed a lot and seemed more independent by the end of it. The character wasn't right for him, definitely, but those first couple years tagging with Rey gave him a lot of opportunities to grow at a rate that I think a lot of PC wrestlers don't get. One day, I want to see Stone Cold Steve Austin and Dominik Mysterio have an interaction in the ring. Dom just tries to speak, crowd boos very loudly as usual, and Austin just saying, "What?" over and over again, but being serious about it because he can't hear him speak because of the crowd.

Imagine.. just Imagine... If Dom retires Rey in a hair vs mask match and Dom removes the mask of a bloody Rey. It sounds sad to see but it would elevate Dom soooo much.
