- A page by page view of the 1969 Centuri Model Rocket Products Catalog. I also show some of my model rockets from this catalog that survived (sort of) the test of time. Back in the 1970's I believe that Centuri Rockets got purchased or absorbed by Estes Rockets. Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot for sharing this Centuri catalog. I got into model rockets in 1969 and my first rocket was the 1/100 scale Centuri "Little Joe," followed by the Centuri Saturn 1B. My fellow rocketeers and I formed our own rocket club; we called it MARS (Model Aerospace Research Society). Among the eight or nine of us, we had nearly every Centuri and Estes rocket available. Later, I built dmy own 1/48 scale Saturn V, powered by three Energet "F" motors and recovered by three 24" chrome mylar chutes. Those motors were really expensive and had to be shipped by rail! One of our rocket club members shot lots of Super 8 movies with his parents' camera, so its fun to watch them now, over half a century later. Thanks again and take care.

I went to the factory store when I was about ten. Got the box set with rocket and launcher!
In 1981 I built the Centuri F4 Phantom from the "Fighter Fleet" section of that years catalog. Very realistic with drop tanks and missiles hanging underneath the wings. Finished it very well, got all the colors just right on everything, all lined up correctly, and the big day finally arrived. Off the launch rod it came in a Blaze of Flame, and immediately started to hunt for a viable target in Kamakazi mode!. We all dropped to the ground. A couple High G High Alpha maneuvers just above our heads and it shot skyward,,shedding the wings and drop tanks and missles, canopy, ect.. I humbly gathered it all up and took it home and glued it back together, with the wounds. It became a desk rider after that. I owed it to it. It survived for a LONG time with my stuff, but eventually fate had another path for it. Miss those days. 1981 was the first shuttle flight.

My first Centuri catalog was 1971. That was a transitional year. Lots of color photos, more plastic parts, and the last appearance of the traditional "Large Scale" rockets but the introduction of Enerjets.
This one has lots of elements of the 1971, but with some old school looking stuff.
I have a 1973 that I want to do sometime in the future. That one is mostly color. Thanks for watching and your comment!
