- Stellar Blade feels like a blast from the past in the best way possible. In everything from its setting to its combat, it wears its inspirations on its sleeves, and though the result is a game that doesn’t necessarily tread new ground in any meaningful way, its qualities are undeniable.
Its sci-fi post-apocalyptic world is brimming with scenery, its combat is fast and fluid and consistently a blast, and it boasts a staggering amount of variety in the enemies that you fight.
Sporting higher production values than many would expect, Stellar Blade brings its vision to life in impressive fashion, even if some non-combat related parts of the gameplay experience - like the platforming - can drag things down at times.

Haha, the days where i respected ign are long gone. Same with gamespot. They had their time in the early days of the internet but now...they are next to useless.
And some other left wing outlets bombed it as well. Mostly bitter women reviewers. Strip out the bad faith reviews and this is like a 90+ on metacritic.

Exciting combat, linear progression with semi open areas, visually a marvel, and no big rpg elements. Definitely sounds like a game for me and I'm so excited about it!
Sounds like every other AAA game on the market... I miss the days when devs weren't afraid to experiement.
An 8 is a good score but needless to say, this game will feel like a 10 to me , I’m looking forward to getting it Friday after work and playing it for myself.

One of the highest praises the game received was from the creator(IIRC) of the nier series saying stellar blade was really good and surpasses nier in many ways.
If you know anything about nier creator the guy is a troll😂😂 gtfo this generic game isn’t better then anything
Nier was beautiful but it had a lot of 'jank' to it as did the sequel...the praise in the comparison isn't what you think it is.

The demo sold me after the first boss fight. Feels very nier automata mixed with souls
I didn't like the demo. The camera shake was way over the top and gimmicki. It felt like every hack n slash game I ha e played. Although, I have been playing games for close to 50 years now. If I was a new gamer( someone under 10 years gaming experience) I would ha e liked the demo. With that said I will wait u til I see regular people playing it as that's how I will play it to decide if I like it. Demo didn't wow me.

@bigde131 because the demo is a demo. It's not the full game or might be an old version of the game. I'm going to watch people play it and not really get their opinions. Reviews are not great but I don't care about Reviews other than watching gameplay by normal people.
Just based off the demo i rated the game a 7/10
Notice how everyone’s combat looks stuck in place blocking, more people need to know how to “Perfect Dash”. Makes the gameplay wayyyy faster. I can’t wait to play the game honestly lol

Looks like a modern day Ninja Gaiden
Way too slow to be a Ninja Gaiden. Ninja Gaiden II (vanilla 360) in the greatest character action game ever made.
Just based on the demo (which I loved) Eve is way slower and weighty than Hayabusa. You’re also not taking 5-10 enemies at once here
Having said all that, I can totally see how a person that’s never played Ninja Gaiden at an expert level would compare the 2 games

I’ve been hearing great things from the content creators I trust more that journalists. Looking forward to this one. 8 is a good score though so I can’t complain.
A review that actually talks about game stuff nah with game like this I thought it was a myth. Surprisingly very nice review though I wish they showed other costumes and a bit of the 2nd chapter i guess.

I'm wondering how the difficulty is. I'm quite bad at games, but the story from what I've seen so far does intrigue me. I don't play these kinds of games or stories often, so I thought the supposed banality of it might not be as prevalent to me since I might not be aware of the tropes. But again, I'm bad at games... some games, at least. And this is the kind of game I think I'd be pretty bad at.
Is there an easy mode for babies like me?
There are difficulty options. So don’t worry us easy mode gamers can still enjoy 😂
Yes, there's story mode. You can also just farm an early area of the game, since the enemies, statues and wodden chests respawn everytime you rest.
Farming = More money (Vitcoins) + more random items dropped in those statues and wodden chests + more experience to enable to invest in more skills. It might be a bit tedious, but what doesn't kill you, will make you stronger.
I loved the music in the demo. And the combat was so fun.
Stellar Blade is a stellar masterpiece! 10/10
Pros: Everthing, except for Tachy's storyline.
Cons: Tachy's storyline. Tachy should have been the main protagonist, even though her hotness, would have been more distracting while playing the game.
It's crazy because when we were younger and games seemed to be more consistently good, we placed emphasis on story. But now as we get older, many of us here at SkM prioritize gameplay. Not saying that story isn't important... but as we were saying in a discussion yesterday around the TR reboots, story is just too subjective. And it's more forgivable when a game is still fun but has a bad story than when the opposite is true.
If we are REALLY interested in getting a good story, we'll read a good book, or watch a good movie.

The combat in this game is legendary when she deflects attacks the controller makes an awesome sound effect! The boss challenge mission is hard but if u learn how to dodnge and deflect parry, you will be a bad ass and the game.well.definitly show u that u are
Never watch reviews or videos of games anymore but I’m trying to cut back on my insane gaming budget so here I am ….. let’s see what game gets my money this week.

Having watched multiple SB reviews, this is the broad consensus:
+ Great combat (narrower parry/dodge windows than Sekiro)
+ Good boss battles
- Paper thin characterizations
- Repetitive fetch side quests
Aggregate Score: 8ish/10
Gonna keep my expectations tempered, Lies of P knocked it out of the park and if SB can come close it'll be good
I’ve seen reviews saying the characterization for the main cast is great, and the “fetch quests” as you put it, all lead to something be it an upgrade, costume, and/or a story element.
Noisy Pixel did bring up a detail that may have escaped some of those reviewers who said the characterization was ‘paper thin’: a lot of the character development happens in/during the side quests and thus, if all you do is the main quest, you may come out thinking there was little character development.
You have said this some where before….. we both surfing these comments….
Probably be one of the first ps5 games I get when the pro comes out.

Digital foundry said there were no bugs and the performance was top notch. I don’t think you need to wait for a patch. Up to you though.

I didn’t find the movement to be clunky in the demo. There are several areas where you’re walking on narrow ledges and stuff like that, didn’t seem difficult to me. 🤷♂️

For all the advanced players who want a more fast pace gameplay learn how to do the “Perfect Dash” technique. I made a video on the method to moving wayyyyy faster in the game. It is not the same as dodge canceling but an addition to it!

Yeah when you nitpick the game apart of course it will get an 8. The platforming and the environmental puzzles are fine not once did i have issues.

i really enjoyed the demo - some of the parry/ dodge timings seemed a bit clunky but overall the combat seemed solid - the big thing for me was the soundtrack, absolute bangers!
Been a long time since I've really noticed the music in an action game. Visually it looks great and as I am a big fan of all things DMC and Bayonetta this is a day 1 buy for me!
I read on X that if you turn off HDCP in the PS5 system settings, it helps with the input lag in the demo.
I definitely noticed the difference myself.

There is an option that allows you to automatically pick up items in the settings. Please check the settings and see what you want to turn on or off. Ive seen alot of people not looking at the settings to tweak stuff to cater for them. Please do, to make your experience a little more enjoyable maybe.

That's not helpful information. An arbitrary number means nothng without context. People who only care about the review score and not the actual review are the same people who complain about how certain games get better or lower scores than a game that they like or hate.

Demo is much flashier and better looking..................can I just keep playing the demo? At 1st I didn't like the all the t and a , it was like a porno. But the game plays nice, and is pretty.

Its been a thing for almost all of mankind that "sex sells." If the aesthetic is pleasing its easier for some people to TRY the game, or outright buy it.

I already buy it because stellar blade is more common of Xenoblade Chronicles by same name but however music theme is Doom slayer make player hype and the quite difficult level of skill is Xenoblade but is actually sekiro shadows die twice skill technique to survive also art technique form Xenoblade Chronicles. It because it fusion of Xenoblade Chronicles + Doom slayer + sekiro shadows die twice = Stellar Blade
