    Sir I am trying to restore my 86 third turbo coupe
    I need advice to make this a carb motor (the factory computer is missing just like every bit of wire.)
    What I need is someone who has made all the mistakes and learned what works
    Please share your experience with me

    Love the build! Lima engines are really cool I'd love to mess with one someday
    I'm wanting to do this setup with a 22r on a Celica. There isn't a lot of information I can find on weber blow through builds. From what I've gathered I know you need a pressure regulator with boost reference, foam floats, jetting, that choke butterfly delete you mentioned and a wideband sensor.
    Besides that are the Webers just ready to party out of the box? Or is there anything else I should look out for on the carburetor before I shove 10 psi into the thing?
    Thank you for the cool content ill be following this for sure!

    • @monshuracing
      @monshuracing  Год назад +1

      Yes you'll need to start with a good fuel pressure regulator that is boost referenced. I used a QFT from Holley. The Weber 38/38 already had the foam floats, you'll need to remove the choke blades, then slide out the shaft. Also you need to epoxy shut the hole for the choke linkage. I do use an AFR setup from AEM to keep track of my fueling. I bought 2 jet kits from redline, one kit had richer jets and I bought a "low altitude" kit for leaner jets. I used the low altitude air bleeds if I remember right. Also there is a redline Weber air filter adapter to regular 5 1/8"... Then I used a Holley carb hat to adapt to the charge pipes.

    Well the cam does help. I fully decked the stock head and put a comp 280h cam kit and it definitely helped with interstate speeds but it really needs a shorter rear gear. It's still a turd until 2500 rpm

    How did you make the carb blow thru I’ve got a motor raft 2100 I’m wanting to do

    • @monshuracing
      @monshuracing  Год назад +1

      You have to remove the choke blade and shaft, seal up the area the choke linkage comes through with epoxy. If you have metal floats you'll want to swap those out for nitrophyl float. After that you'll need to use an afr gauge to dial in your main jets. I believe I'm running 5 sizes larger than stock. But when the velocity increases from boost it naturally picks up more fuel as long as you are running a fuel pressure regulator that has a 1:1 boost reference. So when the boost goes up. So does the fuel pressure.

    But I would like to use this new motor

    • @monshuracing
      @monshuracing  3 месяца назад

      You could swap the intake and run a carb naturally aspirated on the cheap... But to make a blow through setup, It would have been cheaper to swap to a v8. Im currently driving a 302 v8 ranger and it was easier, makes more power, and less finnicky than the blow through turbo engine.
      My entire build list at the time of this video is in the description. If you have anymore questions about what I used.

    Change the rear ratio nit the transmission

    • @monshuracing
      @monshuracing  Год назад

      While I hear what you are saying lemme propose this. Trust me Ive done the math and thought this through.
      Replacing the TK4- 4speed with the WC T5 that I already have would be a much better solution. The world class Turbo SVO T5 can hold more power (265 ft/lbs) and has a more favorable gear ratio.
      TK4 transmission gear ratios are
      1st: 3.96
      2nd: 2.08
      3rd: 1.39
      4th: 1.00
      T5 transmission gear ratios are
      1st: 3.50
      2nd: 1.93
      3rd: 1.29
      4th: 1.00
      5th: 0.79
      So in top gear of the tk4 at 2500 rpms I'm at 54mph
      Doing the same 2500 rpms in 5th gear of the T5 ill be doing 68mph

    • @tblosser8921
      @tblosser8921 Год назад

      Your right, I argue this with people all the time, 5 speed is the way to go.
      4.11 rear is a little low for what you've got I'd do a 3.73 but you should be fine
