Solo leveling surprised everyone with how well animated it is. Somebody said CG Shadows and lowered everyone's expectations. Now that is not true, and the hype explodes once more.
Ye i remember that it was the RUclipsr Gigguk, it was a good video that Nux reacted to a while back. But TBH i feel like from what we've seen, the shadows are going to be drawn and not CGI which i think is a lot better.
I was just as amazed at manhwa art, because it uses the verticality format to the fullest. You had long frame that was almost designed to be read on the phone.
Fun fact: it is more difficult to make logical decisions when under stress. So those people who are used to easy wins aren't prepared for such the scary situation of facing an S-rank monster and will panic and not be able to make good or logical decisions. However the mc is use to being under high stress when fighting beacuse he is so weak. So he can think better than them in a dangerous situation like this. at least that's what i think.
Jin woo is in a life and death situation every time he enters a dungeon, not one of them has ever been in that kind of situation before makes perfect sense.

at least 70% of the hype of the first episode was lost for me waiting for the next one my friend said the build up was the week we had to wait i said the first episode built up to the smile statue part and was lost because of the wait i mean i almost cried watching the first episode cuz of how good it was but like i was happy for ep2 but not AS happy as i wouldve been if ep 1 and 2 were released at the same time
I am one of those people that watches 2 episodes together. And i have to say i am disappointed even after 45 minutes of this. I understand this was setup and from episode 3 RPG leveling will start. So i don't intend to drop this show. But first 2 episodes didn't deserve the hype.

This was a 🔥 PERFECT 🔥adaptation of the manhwa, and a perfect episode in general. Not many anime can beat this in terms of animation quality, OST, voiceacting and heartfelt emotions it brought up. The change of perspectives from above and below made the us watch through different room perspectives constantly. The sfx sounds were also on point when the statue moved or the people got crushed. Congrats to A-1!!!
I believe the reason why is that Korean Manwhas are fully colored as oppose to Japanese Manga. Sure you can get some great detail in black and white but then when it gets animated they would use some subdued color palate and make things look meh. You can lose some details to to this. The manwha has an amazing use of color and lighting. So if they didn't not meet the expectation of known commodity head will roll. You have to get the lighting write in this show.

There is no way you can produce an anime in 2023 who will look the same or better. I really hope the community won't compare it too much. Yeah, IIRC in one of the adaptations the door was still ever-so-slightly open by that point, but even THEN it was such a small gap that the guy couldn't have reasonably fit through it (the implication being it was like that to instill false hope of escape in the poor bastards who wound up trapped in there).
He mentions running through the door using his speed in the Manhwa (as in like, Wil-e-Coyote, person shaped hole in a wall running through). In other words, if the statue hadn't killed him, he probably would have just ended up a red splatter on the door 🤣

That room is a pure MMo raid and I appreciate it completely Bow before an npc each member stand in front of a statue with an instrument and then wait out a timer while staring at statues so they don’t move or whole party wipes. Granted it does make me question how many episodes are gonna be in the first season if it took us 2 episodes to get through the first dungeon and you can assume next episode is gonna have a bunch of flash backs but if it’s all at this quality I’m gonna look forward to it for sure.

My favourite part is during the internal monolog. As he's getting ripped apart you hear him screaming in the background but at a lower volumeand its echoing. You feel the space and the ambience of how fucked everything is.

that moment of the speedster getting vaporized is so perfect. No drama, just *zap* and then his shoes fall impotently to the floor. Speaks more to how dangerous the situation is than if they did a large buildup or drew that scene out for even 5 more seconds. We're where the rest of the party is, wondering if speed will save them, then we see at the same time that calling the statue a god is probably not inaccurate.

Fun fact, I just realized they actually trolled fansub rippers with this. Throughout this episode, if you listen closely, the names spoken are all Japanese names instead of Korean names. For example, at 12:41 in Nux's video, Song clearly says "Mizushino-kun" when addressing Sung Jin-woo. I played the same scene in Crunchyroll and he clearly says "Sung-san". Which means, the animation studio _intentionally_ made two separate dub tracks to troll pirates. EDIT: Also throughout this fansub rip, everyone keeps calling Joohee "Mizuki-san".
Could it be because the RIP that nux is using is from the japanese broadcast and has japanese names because japan, and the one in crunchyroll keeps the original korean names because it's aimed at a global audience? It somehow kinda make sense to me.
@TheShitpostExperience yeah... after I posted this, I found that there is a separate dub specifically for Japanese TV (which fansubs rip from) with the intent to censor around the original story's raging anti-Japanese writing by changing all the protagonists from Korean to Japanese and changing the (eventual) villain(s) from Japanese to "Fictional Other Country". The international Crunchyroll dub with original Korean names is to avoid dragging the international audience into this political messiness.
This is the version currently airing "only" in japan. Nux probably watched it on a pirated anime site so that's the version he got. The version the rest of the world gets has the actual korean names, etc. For clarification: There are 2 japanese dubs: The Japanese TV version (with localized Japanese names) and the Japanese dub with the korean names (but the language is still Japanese)
There should have been a cut in the first episode right after the statue looked at Jinwoo. Either to make it the end of the episode, or if the two episodes are spliced together, to cut to something unrelated. Maybe his sister visiting his mom... or that scene with the sister and the friend talking at school.
They're going for quite the slow burn imo, and I approve greatly. Sure, it might be like 10 seasons before the story is actually done at this rate, but this series deserves the extra time.
Considering that the Jeju Raid was shown in Episode one and they are planning 24 Episodes, I think we will end with the Raid on Jeju and start the second Season(if we get one) with the american Hunters Association
@@Algenhirn Yeah, I can see that. That would probably make the most sense anyways, any further and they might not have enough content for a full season 2. They might also leave it just before Jeju island and then extend that arc a bit in season 2 for a big hook at the start of the season. I think them ending season 1 ~at the end of the demon castle+ Prep for Jeju would be perfectly fine for a climax and wind down.

So if I remember right from the manwa in the part with the moving statues. That statues don’t move as long as someone is watching them. So I wonder what would have happened if they had enough people. Granted it does make me question how many episodes are gonna be in the first season if it took us 2 episodes to get through the first dungeon and you can assume next episode is gonna have a bunch of flash backs but if it’s all at this quality I’m gonna look forward to it for sure.

My favourite part is during the internal monolog. As he's getting ripped apart you hear him screaming in the background but at a lower volumeand its echoing. You feel the space and the ambience of how fucked everything is.

Nah they animated the start of the manwha correctly the pacing is the same as in the manwha
that moment of the speedster getting vaporized is so perfect. No drama, just *zap* and then his shoes fall impotently to the floor. Speaks more to how dangerous the situation is than if they did a large buildup or drew that scene out for even 5 more seconds. We're where the rest of the party is, wondering if speed will save them, then we see at the same time that calling the statue a god is probably not inaccurate.
I love this quality of production! Can't wait to see my waifu Beru get animated!

Fun fact, I just realized they actually trolled fansub rippers with this. Throughout this episode, if you listen closely, the names spoken are all Japanese names instead of Korean names. For example, at 12:41 in Nux's video, Song clearly says "Mizushino-kun" when addressing Sung Jin-woo. I played the same scene in Crunchyroll and he clearly says "Sung-san". Which means, the animation studio _intentionally_ made two separate dub tracks to troll pirates.
EDIT: Also throughout this fansub rip, everyone keeps calling Joohee "Mizuki-san".
Could it be because the RIP that nux is using is from the japanese broadcast and has japanese names because japan, and the one in crunchyroll keeps the original korean names because it's aimed at a global audience? It somehow kinda make sense to me.
@TheShitpostExperience yeah... after I posted this, I found that there is a separate dub specifically for Japanese TV (which fansubs rip from) with the intent to censor around the original story's raging anti-Japanese writing by changing all the protagonists from Korean to Japanese and changing the (eventual) villain(s) from Japanese to "Fictional Other Country". The international Crunchyroll dub with original Korean names is to avoid dragging the international audience into this political messiness.
Tl;dr, this is legit the equivalent to a Japanese 4Kids dub.

This is the version currently airing "only" in japan. Nux probably watched it on a pirated anime site so that's the version he got. The version the rest of the world gets has the actual korean names, etc.
For clarification: There are 2 japanese dubs: The Japanese TV version (with localized Japanese names) and the Japanese dub with the korean names (but the language is still Japanese)
Some of the subtitles are also messed up.

There should have been a cut in the first episode right after the statue looked at Jinwoo. Either to make it the end of the episode, or if the two episodes are spliced together, to cut to something unrelated. Maybe his sister visiting his mom... or that scene with the sister and the friend talking at school.
Can we talk about the opening’s animation like lawddd the animators were on steroid animating that opening alone 😭
Some one tell Nux to watch The Midnight Gospel. Episode 1 had me hooked and I believe it's something he will enjoy
They're going for quite the slow burn imo, and I approve greatly. Sure, it might be like 10 seasons before the story is actually done at this rate, but this series deserves the extra time.
Considering that the Jeju Raid was shown in Episode one and they are planning 24 Episodes, I think we will end with the Raid on Jeju and start the second Season(if we get one) with the american Hunters Association
@@Algenhirn Yeah, I can see that. That would probably make the most sense anyways, any further and they might not have enough content for a full season 2. They might also leave it just before Jeju island and then extend that arc a bit in season 2 for a big hook at the start of the season. I think them ending season 1 ~at the end of the demon castle+ Prep for Jeju would be perfectly fine for a climax and wind down.

Absolute BANGER anime so far, plot is not half bad, characters aren’t immediately op, and the main character doesn’t seem like a pervert immediately, nice! Better then most anime atm, this feels like the plot to an isekai.

So if I remember right from the manwa in the part with the moving statues. That statues don’t move as long as someone is watching them. So I wonder what would have happened if they had enough people. With the fortitude to stick around. Cause again if I remember right the blue flames were serving as a sort of timer…should probably finish the video and find out for sure 😂
