Great video. You NEED to watch: - "Kingdom". In some regards, it's Lars at his funniest. There are also some fantastic characters in a quirky but interesting and sometimes thought provoking story. - "The Celebration" by Vinterberg. It was, at it's day, completely groundbreaking. The acting is superb and the story is shocking (at least for the time).
Being a Dane, following Lars von Trier's works since early-mid 1980s, my personal ranking is probably largely influenced by where I have been in my life and personal impacts/changes during the given Trier eras. 1. Riget I ("The Kingdom" TV-series, part one's four episodes) 2. Forbrydelsens Element ("The Element of Crime") 3. Breaking The Waves 4. Melancholia 5. Idioterne ("The Idiots") 6. Riget II ("The Kingdom Part II", last four episodes) 7. Dogville 8. De Fem Benspænd ("The Five Leg Braces", however most enjoyable pre-hand knowing Jørgen Leth's original materials under the skin as a starting point) 9. Epidemic 10. Europa 11. The House That Jack Built 12. Manderlay 13. Dancer In The Dark 14. AntiChrist 15. Riget Exodus ("The Kingdom Exodus") TV-series). 16. Direktøren for Det Hele ("The Boss of it All") 17. Nocturne 18. Nymphomaniac Most probably some of my compatriots as well as foreiginers is ready for a hard blow to my list. However, sometimes the simple effects lie simply in the very grainy, small detail and Trier's unmatched method like a pendulum to be able to swing between the cheerful over the gloomy over the psyrealist over the social realist over life's difficult circumstances over happy-go-lucky in the span of a two-second pendulum swing.
Really great ranking , my favourite Lars Von Trier Movie is Dogville I was blown Away by how the movie was made, Nicole Kidman’s Performance and the ending is brutal and satisfying at the same time .
Hi, I was brought here by tour Europe trilogy unboxing. It is very nice to find out somewhere on Earth there is somebody that also deem Lars von Trier as his favorite director!
we have the same top 2! :3 enjoyed this ranking alot, glad to see im not the only one who watches him as comfort movies lol. & u gotta see the kingdom sometime!!! ive been watching it this week and its so fun and comfy, really nothing like ud expect from him but his sense of humor is still there. i think u can watch all of it on MUBI
10:22 I recommend reading a little bit more about this (if you haven't already) some of the things that she stated he was doing during filming were quite wild (also her name is pronounced be - yerk loll)
Definitely watch the celebration if you haven’t already, much more accessible than the idiots but just as fascinating filmmaking wise. Love Lars, Melancholia Dogville Antichrist House that Jack Built are some of my all time favourite movies. Shd do a Korine ranking

I like your ranking! Similar to mine. It would be cool to see a Stanley Kubrick ranking.

I have seen the celebration and I enjoyed it a great deal!
I just love your southern voice,
Lars is not Swedish. He is Danish.
Correct, I have an issue saying he’s from Sweden too often lol, same with Thomas Vinterberg.
LVT is wild lol, what camera do you use?
Black Magic Pocket 4K!
