The badass almost sounds like youre running your bass through a compessor, much more even with gobs of sustain. Even if its only an improvement of playability, when you play better you sound better. Definitely a worthwhile investment for any bass player who wants more bang for their buck out of a gigging instrument
I know I'm in the minority here, but I barely hear a difference between the two bridges, and I have my doubts that you would hear any difference in a band setting (compared with bedroom playing). Does not make me want to run out and change the bridge on my Squier CV 70s P-Bass. Thanks so much for posting this, really interesting. I am just not hearing what other are hearing, haha!
I’m a professional bassist, 40 years of experience. I hear very little difference. If it feels better under your fingers and you spend a lot of time on the bass it may be worth the trouble to change it. Otherwise save yourself the trouble and money.
Did you have to adjust your string height or neck on any of these high mass bridges compared to the original? I'm thinking of putting one but i heard some times you do. I really like the Fender High Mass, I have a Fender Mexican P bass so hopefully that wouldn't need any major adjustments.
Thank you nice video showing the differences with real world examples. It's a pity you didn't get to keep the string heights above the pickups the same, as this exaggerates the difference. Listening to the faster (penultimate) clip, made me thing I'd like to hear the difference in attack using a pick. In all but the faster (penultimate) clip, I preferred the Badass II, so for me it's the big bridge (bet it'd work nicely on a fretless too?).
My pleasure, and thanks for watching. Keeping the exact same height it's actually kinda hard, because the Badass is way thicker than the stock bridge. I can get a nice low action with it, whereas the stock bridge goes lower than you'd actually ever need. Sure, I never tried it on a fretless, but would probably work nicely as well
i think it'd be a headache getting the strings low enough on a fretless if you're using a badass bridge! you'd probably have to sink the bridge into the body.
If all factors were the same except the bridge, then that is a shocking difference to me. It”s much easier to hear the difference when you were playing slower. Nice work though.
Thanks, yeah, everything exactly the same, even the input volume. Maybe I didn't get the action exactly the same when I switched the bridges, which is why it sounds slightly lower
Ive got a squier fretless vm that i upgraded to a high mass bridge and it sounded way better. It even growled more. Ive also got a squier classic vibe 70s that sounds better with the vintage bridge. Sits better in the mix and everything. I figured it was due to the different body woods but there are other variables to consider. I wonder what caused yours to sound better vs my cv 70?
I think it has more to do with the shape of the saddle. Though I tried the stainless steel and brass saddles on the Kickass bridge and there was a slight difference
If you need to go that low there’s probably an issue with your neck these things go plenty low, otherwise they’d be defective. Also saddle height screws are shorter so I think the difference is less than people think.

Played Leo's Badass II exclusively for about 10 years. Didn't realize how much it was a part of my sound. Great video!

Nice! Ordered myself one for my jazz bass. Super excited to put it on. Awesome playing🤙🏻
It's an awesome bridge, and a classic. Definitely worth it. Thanks for watching!

Night & Day. High mass all day!
best small bass channel on youtube

No adjustments on the neck, but of course you need to set up the bridge to have the right intonation and saddle height
Figo sto precision satinato.
Ma tu personalmente hai avvertito differenze col badass? Ad esempio sotto mano
Thank you nice video showing the differences with real world examples.

Great demo! It looks like the string ball ends almost make contact with the body on the Bad Ass bridge? Is that correct?
It's not different from a stock bridge from that point of view. They may seem close but they don't touch the body
@@OliverTobyn thanks. Up the Irons!🤘🎸

i think they just sound different, but both good! i replaced 2 of my bridges with brass saddles and if there was a difference, it was lost on me.
I think it has more to do with the shape of the saddle. Though I tried the stainless steel and brass saddles on the Kickass bridge and there was a slight difference
What pick us did you have on bass my friend ?
where did you ordered the badass bridge?
Bought it some years ago when it was still available. Every now and then you can find them ok eBay
is this the new squier affinity in charcoal metallic frost?
Much better sound with BadAss
Was it easy to install the bad ass 2?
Yeah, just the five screws, simple as that. Just needs some adjustment of course
stock bridge goes lower than bad ass , and therefor has lower action
Depends. The lowest setting on the Badass is pretty unplayable, so there's that
If you need to go that low there’s probably an issue with your neck these things go plenty low, otherwise they’d be defective. Also saddle height screws are shorter so I think the difference is less than people think.
Stock sounds much better.
Wow actually sounded better
old bridge is more woody
Badass II wins. No doubt. The volume, midrange, and the low end…Badass II is much better than the stock bridge.
