    No matter how many times you drive on I-70 in the Rockies it never gets old

      Add 80000 pounds of semi, blizzard like conditions and people in cars that are clueless, and the trip takes on a whole new meaning of excitement.

    Back during Desert Storm, we went and visited my wife's sister and brother-in-law in Denver (they were active duty infantry on standby). I remember the Georgetown-Silver Plume railroad quite well. It's worth the visit, although I'd advise being careful to avoid being in a car with a flat spot on one wheel! (BANG BANG BANG all the way!)

      I’ve always wanted to check out the railroad. I’ve seen it a few times driving on I-70.

    You caught that section of highway on a textbook day. Nice and clear, cars jammed packed bumper to bumper people going too slow in the passing lake lol. Next time I go to Colorado I plan on going to Telluride then the Million Dollar Highway, coming up from the smaller, more easy going highways. Thanks for another great video.

    I remember that drive from before I-70 was built through there. It sure sped things up by the time I started driving. Thanks for the video!

    Nice one as usual: you've shown the I-70 in the Rockies a few times and this one lives up to the others. This is a drive on my list: I-70 from the I-15 to Denver.

    i-70 between Denver and Cove Fort Utah has got to be one of the most beautiful if not the most scenic highways in the entire US. Great video as always Kyle. I have been on this stretch from Denver to Frisco and hope to see Glenwood Canyon and the San Rafael Swell someday.

      Thank you Robert! I hope you can head west from Frisch someday. I-70 all the way to it’s end at I-15 is truly a gem.

    We drove through the Eisenhower tunnel during our cross country road trip between New York and Las Vegas in July 2021. The day before we drove through the tunnel, we received a news update regarding flooding at the Glenwood Canyon, and we were not expected to drive through the canyon that day as the roadway was planned to be closed because of continued inclement weather. The roadway reopened when we woke up that morning, but it closed again for less than 2 hours as a precaution due to additional flash flood warnings, which had expired by the end of the afternoon. We got lucky in driving through the canyon and we were able to arrive in Grand Junction before sunset.
    While in Las Vegas, it was decided that we would travel back to New York via Salt Lake City and Cheyenne rather than Denver and southern Utah due to concerns regarding additional flooding in the canyon. This event actually happened when severe flooding on the roadway caused major landslides, closing most of Interstate 70 between Denver and Grand Junction for a few weeks. The highway did reopen before the end of the summer, but the devastation that wrecked havoc on the highway caused one of the worst flood-related disasters in recent memory. The flooding happened in an area of the canyon that was affected by the 2020 wildfires.

    Didn't you know, just east of the tunnels and Great Divide, you'll see the plane crash site of the Wichita State Shockers football team that happened on October 2, 1970. The crash site is at mile 217 of I-70 just east of the interchange where US 6 splits to go to Loveland Pass. 40 passengers on the plane were on board, 31 of them perished while 9 survived but were injured.

      The new expansion packs are a LOT better. The level of detail is noticeably different between the original states (like California) and the newest ones (like Wyoming or Texas).

    how did u make the signs

    • @InterstateKyle
      @InterstateKyle  Год назад

      I make them with abobe fireworks but I also just download them off the internet and can make templates that I can reuse later for other signs as well. Search “road signs in the United States” and click on the Wikipedia link and it gives you literally everything you could want. You can also search for MUTCD signs in Wikimedia commons.
