What other mechanical tutorials would you like to watch?
You used moly grease on this assembly...how TF do you know which grease to use where?
@@BenMitro my rule of thumb is if it's rotating it's going to generate heat and therefore needs high temp bearing grease, though if it's just moving back and forth a bit like a king pin bearing, or in this case the gear stick, use moly.
Checking Valve clearance on a 1hz. The importance of valve clearance. Pros and cons.
Thanks, Simon, for the video for this one. I didn't need a graph. Now we have to get an easy fix for the Toyota handbrake.
Not even I can fix the Toyota Handbrake! Rest assured the next video is chocked right full of graphs, you'll love it! 😁
You caaaaan do this without rippin the carpet up bit finicky but doable only issue on my 80 is the actual round housing on the gearbox has broken so now stuck on what to do
You probably can, but it's a pain without pulling up the mats.
If your Toyota Hilux or Landcruiser pops out of 1st gear replace the detent springs on the side of the gearbox, costs a few V's thousands for a new or reco box.
Thanks mate, I'll have to check that out!
I remember doing this to my 60 series thirty odd years ago
It definitely sharpens up the shift!
I hit like as soon as the video started because your videos are always great. What is that small lever near the top of the gear lever?
Low range! And thanks mate, I appreciate it.
hi mollie grease could be contributing to the the break down to the spacer [long-term]. red rubber grease would be a better option. but enjoyed the video. necro-hick from Ireland
Cheers! What ingredient in the molly grease do you think could contribute toward the degradation of the spacer?

(Again!!!??)
Lucky I’m here
I tell you what, I'm think I'm going to start sending advanced copies to you for proof reading! :)
Ha
Hi mate, do you happen to know what thread size your shift knobs are? I’m looking at getting my one replaced as it is already worn out. Cheers!
Sorry, no idea.
Is there a fix like this for the transfer case, mine is nearly impossible to select low 4. Drops into high 4 nicely but very hard to lift and pull back to get it into low range.
With the Toyota 80 series standard, it has external linkages, so maybe a spray of lubrication to free up the mechanism might help?
@@LockyourHubs4WDing cheers I’ll give it a drenching 😎👍
Where do you buy the parts for this and what are they called?
It's a gear shift bushing kit, the kit came from Terrain Tamer.
What model year and model landcruiser was this? Is that a H1FA Transfer Case too?
80 series 95model, yes it's the H1FA part time transfer case Standard Model.
@LockyourHubs4WDing very cool I just got one installed in my 80 series here in the US. Very rare here. Did yours come in the truck as oem?
Love your videos keep them coming!
@@mtbrider8881 sure did, it's a part time (H1FA and free wheeling hubs) diesel (1HZ) 5 speed manual with rear barn doors
same as jeep ax15 5 speed, exactly the same parts.
I think it would be a similar setup in quite a few manual transmissions that don't have external linkages.
@@LockyourHubs4WDing it's the same box apart from jeep using a taller overdrive and different transfer case output spline and pattern. jeep used the ax15 from the 80's to 2000. toyota used basically the same box behind the 1hz in the 80 series.
@@6226superhurricanecorrect Jeep Wranglers used AISIN gearboxes for ages then switched to NSG (Mercedes) in 2005 until recently and have now gone back to AISIN which are much better
It would be great to see but your arm was in the way of the camera for most of it... grrr....
I did notice that during the edit, though I wasn't keen on doing the job twice!
