I like her a lot. The dress, accessories, choice of sculpt and hair color, LOVE. But I do have my reservations when it comes to the screening. I get what they were going for, a call back to her Og screening, but I don’t think it works that well. Especially when they didn’t do that for Christie’s anniversary doll. A modern take on the screening would’ve suited her better imo. And I’m right there with you when it comes to midge, we’ve had sooooooo many reproductions over the past 25 years, it would’ve been so much more refreshing had we gotten the ooak bill produced for that auction.
Omg yes I would love to own that midge repro , beautiful .I like the Teresa repro even though to me 90s Teresa face m old that my daughters played with still represents her( and I still have ) ,but the Lina mold is lovely too ,great you got your doll early still waiting on mine 😀
I almost spit out my coffee when I saw your photo of the 1992 Teresa face, but I don't really ever drink coffee, so that particular situation was narrowly avoided. I did "lol", however, as the kids say. I like this dress a lot, but yellow is my favorite color, so that was a no brainer. I wouldn't change the dress at all, but I might have added a short-sleeved shrug bolero jacket as a nod to her original jacket. I don't mind the Lina sculpt on the doll, but I would have used either Spanish Barbie or Steffie or 1992 8-head Teresa for an anniversary doll. I think that the Spanish head sculpt has only really been done justice a few times, a lot of times the dolls with that face have a sort of blank look. The sculpt's namesake, 1983 Spanish Barbie is probably the best example of when the sculpt doesn't always quite work, because of a weakness in the sculpt itself. I think the 1983 Twirly Curls Barbie dolls in Hispanic and AA are both quite beautiful, on the other hand, and of course the first year DeeDee is one of my favorites to use this face. I really wish Mattel would do a resculpt iteration of the Spanish Barbie face with either a more pronounced smile or a more solemn/serious expression in the mouth area. I think the big weakness of the sculpt is that the mouth is neither smiling nor solemn, but somewhere in between. It's just kind of got a very neutral mouth position, as if it was sculpted while the model wasn't really paying attention. It can work if the eyes are painted with a dramatic intensity of some kind, but when the eyes aren't on point she has a kind of vacant look. I've done Photoshop tweaks of images of this face and it looks awesome when the smile is turned into a sultry pout similar to the Simone mouth. If I used the 1992 Teresa face, I'd do a side glance and a curtain bang, for a flirty look. I would want to give her a more detailed screening regardless, even as an homage to 1987 California Dream Teresa, if we're doing a reimagining, let's reimagine the detail and finish to a higher degree, rather than make a modern sculpt with a more simplistic throwback screening. As much as I love my Steffie-faced Wet 'N Wild, All-Stars and All-American Teresa dolls, I don't think I'd use the Steffie face for an anniversary Teresa. Steffie is just too associated with P.J., Kelley and Cara for me. Well, and Steffie herself, I guess.
I adore her dress, too! Her makeup makes me think of bubblegum flavours. Great video! PS props on nabbing these signature Latina dolls so quickly! 👌🏾👌🏾

"Hi Barbies!" OMG!!! I just left Walmart and they had one Dia de Los Muertos doll, the one w butterflies, on clearance for $39!!! I didn't hv the funds for it....all good though because I'm not a skeleton fan...
Overall the anniversary Teresa is nice. I would've probably went with the 1990 head sculpt because it's so iconic. Sorry, but I never was a fan of the Spanish head mold for some reason. I've always preferred Steffie, Teresa or the 2011 Summer sculpts. I would LOVE for Mattel to use the Heidi head sculpt for a future Latina doll.
