reasons to watch SoupSoup: easy to watch, slow paced, doesn't do anything that requires one to make Minecraft their job, small things that make happy, usage of cinematic angles and third person view, no crazy mods or things that are difficult to configure, soothing voice and genuine commentary.

    Reason I watch Soup Soup:
I have autism, adhd, and suspected ocd. All of this means I have, like, an audience in my head. They critize me for different things. So when I watch 100 days videos or speedruns, the audience in my head feeds on it, telling me *I* should be doing that, that *I'm* a bad gamer.
I know it's silly to some, but it really distresses me. So finding this series has calmed the audience down a little bit. I can now say "Hey! This popular guy plays how I do! I'm not a bad gamer!" And they shut up for a little while.
Thank you for helping me, SoupSoup.

The thing that makes your videos special isn't you taking things slow, it's the reason you do it - you want to appreciate every step. You are so appreciative and respectful towards even the smallest of factors, and it's just delightful. Like releasing the strider back into the lake, or postulating on naming your first remaining cows, or expanding on the idea of ruined portals, taking an idea already in the game and making something new. You bring life to the game, sort of meet it on its level, take the time to really enjoy the journey. I'm not here for the storylines, or the builds, I'm here because you take the time to appreciate and respect the things that matter to you. Maybe a deep reading, but hey. I'm tired. :P

The sad thing about the fortresses is that after all the exploration, I wouldn't be surprised if you find out there was one right next to the portal in a direction you didn't go. I can't tell you how often it happens to me and it sucks XD
To offer my reasons why I watch your content. I saw someone else comment that your style is more realistic to the average player and I definitely agree. You're not going crazy reaching the end, you're not building mega farms right out the gate and you're not screaming the whole time. You're just playing a game and I think that's all we need! With your content I can just kick back, and just vibe with your style. I find your videos to be relaxing.
Your genuine love for the world you're creating, and the great care you put into building it is so inspiring as well. I've played MC since it was released, but I didn't realize how far I've strayed from the way I used to play until I started watching your content. You are bringing me back to my roots and I haven't been so excited to play in a long time. Truly, Thank you! Furthermore, I hope that you don't feel pressured to do more just for us. We came and stayed for the way you are now, please, don't feel you have to change that for us! This world is yours! And we'll fall in love with it no matter how it turns out!

Don’t change anything. The reason people watch you is because of who you are now. Your vids are already enjoyable to watch and you may slowly (unintentionally) forget why you started this world. Keep tight hold of your grass roots as Ren stated in the Imp & Skizz Podcast.

The main reason why i’m watching you is bacause you don’t make the over the top builds, extremely op farm on day 1-100. This is a wordt that me and i assume a lot of other players could have too. I’m not the best builder, i’m not the best redstone guy but these good looking not too big builds make me want to play my world again. Yes it’s cool to watch someone build a mega base wich took 5 months irl time to make. But this is way more the style of regular people. People with jobs, school or other hobbies who can’t play 12 hours a day every day for 3 months. Your world comes the closest to ours, and that makes it so wonderfull and makes me come back every single time ❤

In response to the question midway through the video, it’s something as simple as the fact that this series is inspiring. Some videos in the platform have made me step away from a game I genuinely love because I felt like I was playing everything wrong by not building massive or “optimal” things, and this series has reminded me that I can still have fun in my own building something as simple as houses, bridges, ruins and paths.
I still enjoy having things such as villager trading halls, resource farms, and so on, but this series reminded me that I don’t need to make it the biggest thing ever to make it fun to play with.

to answer your question: the reason is because it isn't highly edited its actually genuine I love genuine content because there just isn't enough of it you feel like your actually talking to us rather than an audience or to a camera its just a fun relaxing thing to watch when you get done with work or school.

I definitely get the ring ruins inspiration! Your nether portal is so cool.
In terms of why I watch:
    - you have such a relaxing voice that matches your video editing so well. I can watch these early in the morning, late at night, on my lunchbreak, and it's always good, relaxing vibes
    - i like seeing normal people play minecraft. Everyone plays the game a little differently and sometimes minecraft youtube videos make me feel bad for playing the way i do
    - you have a similar playstyle to me! Laid back, build and lore focused, not taking too much time on just one build
    - its a nice break from shortform content without straying into hour-long video essays. 20-30 minutes feels so perfect
    - I dont mind what you build because having a weekly video brightens up my week!
    - you tell funny stories and just have a really nice conversational style
    - it reminds me of the older minecraft content like stampy, quite a nostalgic style but playing with newer versions of the game. It brings back some of the magic
    - just a lovely time overall
    - please dont worry about making every video bigger and better than the last - small, achievable episodic goals are really good fun and it definitely makes it feel more authentic. We get to see your world grow at a realistic pace and get attached to it! Thats so exciting
Just keep having fun playing and we'll have fun watching :)

haven't watched it entirely but here is a lore idea :
you know how people build nether leaking out of the portal. spreading around to plague the overworld. what if , instead of that , the nether is actually desperate to be better. Maybe Aether that fell. Maybe that is why Ghasts cry. Maybe why there are souls in the sand , why fossils abound (may even be ancient sniffer fossils) , and so on. That is why when lighted , the nether portal sucks the greenery and charm and beauty and peace and sunlight and wind , basically nature , from a little area around the portal and tries pulling it into the nether part of the portal. the natural stuff around the portal doesnt get converted to netherrack or whatever , it just dies.
edit : i just remembered, crying obsidian exists too and is found in the natural ruined portals. the netherrack around spreading out of the portal can be just a 'relapse' after the portal runs out of power. And if even the portal is crying , you know my lore is solid. I love this so much lol.

I enjoy watching your videos because of the slower approach. The builds are simple, but still pleasing to look at, and you don't run around at mach 5 getting every building material or doing everything in the game. It's a lot more realistic to the average player, and keeps us motivated. Comparing ourselves to members of say, Hermitcraft, we would feel like we're not doing enough while burning ourselves out, but you give us a nice, realistic pace to play this game at. After all, it is a game, it's meant to be enjoyed. Having fun in your world is what's important in minecraft, and I'm glad to see a youtuber doing that. Keep it up, we'd love to see where this journey takes you and us.

After watching The Librarian’s “From the Fog” series, I realized I really prefer youtubers who take the game slowly, appreciate little details, and come up with stories for the world around them - treating the game’s world as an actual world, not just a videogame to be played. It feels like a much more genuine and engaging experience, and you end up caring more about their progression and builds because it’s clear that THEY care about the game itself, not just using it for youtube content.
Just keep doing what you’re doing man, it’s exactly what a great many people are looking for.

    Welcome back, Soup!
You wanna know? I smiled, when I saw you posted another video. Also I can hear you almost smiling constantly during your videos. You have a smooth voice, like Cappucchino with crema. You seem to have a lot of fun during playing. I get ideas for my own buildings without copying. I love my world even more now-it's cozy with my cat Lady and horse Rudi. And imo it's important, that you aren't perfect. This is what makes you perfect! At least for me.
When I watch your videos I think of Rahmschnitzel (an german player, did minecraft almost the same style as you) and Kurazarrh (an american player, but is mostly into Vintage Story, that I also love to play). Oh, and you remind me of an youtuber named GELtaz (he mysteriously disappeared). His way to play, to speak, to connect with his community.. like you. You are a warmhearted (is this even a word?) and caring person. You have empathy even for bees and horses. And I appreciate your idea not to build huge farms. I think it's all said. Greetings from the baltic sea o/

9:08 I found this series 3 days ago, beginning from ''How to Enjoy Minecraft Again'' and I can't express how much this series has healed me while watching. The more you talk about the little things you enjoy and talk about what kind of person you are, the more I relate to you. I'm a huge perfectionist and all my hobbies are creative outlets. They have caused me to be burned out for a couple of years now and I've tried so many things to move away from this toxic environment I've created for myself in my head. My passion for creating is dying out and I just feel tired anytime I work on something. I've played Minecraft in the very early alpha and beta days and it still is one of my favorite games. So I tried coming back to it to finally relax again and enjoy all the creative freedom this game offers. But I had no idea where to start with all the new things that got added and all the Minecraft videos I found only made me feel like I suck at this game and will never be able to catch up with the current game as an old player (even though I'm 24)
This is sounding very sappy but something honestly changed when I watched your first video and then the next one. And before I knew it, my head was calm. I feel completely relaxed when watching your videos and I get so happy each time you finish one of the small goals you set up or something surprising happens. I feel like I am looking in a mirror towards a person I can become too. Someone who just does their own thing at their own pace. Someone who doesn't care if others are not happy with the things you build or the decisions you make because it's your own journey. Someone who makes mistakes and then laughs about it, before taking their time to go back and redo it. But with a smile on their face (I hope ahaha) I'm learning a lot watching this series and I just can't stop watching it. But I don't want to rush through the videos in one go. I feel encouraged again to try and slowly approach my toxic relationship with creating. I will go back to the beginning and take things at a slow pace. I don't have to draw a masterpiece everytime I draw. I don't have to create a song that will amaze so many people. I want to create something I like. And even if it turns out ugly or sounds bad, it will be my little piece of my journey that will help me eventually reach my big goals. In a way, your Minecraft journey can be compared to so many things in a good way. It really teaches a lesson and provides a new look at things.
I want to thank you for making your first video and deciding to continue with it and still going until now. You are helping people and putting a smile on their face, just like you wish to do 🙏Thank you for being such a kind person and giving to the world. Now the world will give back to you with this wonderful community you have created! ❤
EDIT: Finally became a member 🙏

The reason why I've stuck with your channel is because it feels as if I'm literally watching one of my friends, or even myself play minecraft. It makes me feel like I could actually make something similar, which is incredibly inspiring and motivating. It's simply about having fun and enjoying the process of creating, not about the end result being perfect or bigger and better than any other builds out there. It's just wonderfully ordinary, and you take time to point out the little joys of the game that remind me of simpler times, when the highlight of your day would be the smallest thing. It's almost nostalgic in a way, it slows down the fast and turbulent days of life.
So please please please, don't ever worry (which is hard, I know) about your uploads being late, or not good enough, not productive enough. I just love how you've made a place for inspiration, creation, connection, and simply relaxation and fun. I hope you'll continue to enjoy it as much as we do. Don't make videos that you think you Have to make and feel a dread when you gotta start. Instead make the kind of videos you enjoy and Want to make, that give you energy.

Great episode as always ! i just wanted to say, you don't have to put too much pressure on yourself to make "perfect" episodes, cause from what i've heard this sometimes leads to burnout.
To answer your question i think i watch your videos as a change from the faster paced and kinda overdone "100 days" type series, and also i love your way of playing the game, making little builds in every place you use frequently and expanding the base and the world each episode, making the world more and more alive by "interacting" with it like you said, rather than just making really big builds.
I personally struggle to keep playing on my worlds for a while, and to make them feel alive like you do, and so the thing you said about making your world grow each episode and keeping it for a long time really makes me want to keep watching to see that happen :)

you're playing for fun and you aren't trying to outdo anyone. you aren't trying to make the biggest, flashiest, or most unique thing that will get you tons of views. you don't plaster words all over the screen and yell every 3 seconds just to retain watch time and keep the attention span of people whose attention spans have been impacted by stuff like tiktok or yt shorts. i'm saying this as someone with adhd; your videos unironically keep me more engaged and i find them more entertaining. i actually know what i'm supposed to be focusing on.
casual minecraft let's plays are an endangered species. you've found your niche and it's the niche so many people have been waiting for, so naturally you'd quickly rise in popularity, yknow? you're a breath of fresh air. your stuff is more old style. it's a relic of a bygone era in the best way possible.

to answer the question as to why we watch, while i can’t speak for everyone i speak for myself when i say you play the game the exact same way i do, simple nothing crazy not everything being completely automated no massive redstone builds or massive farms just simplicity it’s a huge breath of fresh air to see someone enjoy the game in a similar way i enjoy it

I enjoy watching Hermitcraft and got into mcyt generally as a way to connect with my kids who are teens. And Minecraft I got into because my kids asked me to please play with them. I’d like to think I have evolved past building cobblestone boxes.

I watch because I like that you aren't rushing through the game, you are building what you like, and giving it a kind of backstory. IMO, the RUclips algorithm and previous train of thought to go hard on a specific niche pushed a lot of creators (in all genres) into a frenzied pace that no human being can sustain in a healthy way. It seems that RUclipsrs in multiple genres are reaching their tipping point and there seems to be a desire/movement to shift away from focusing so hard on stats and quick monetization and moving toward sustainable growth and a channel of viewers who really want to be there. Keep enjoying what you are doing most of all. I appreciate you asking what we like, but keep in mind that those who like what _YOU_ like will be drawn to you. They will find you. So, my advice is to keep doing what you find fun. It's how you started and we all came here, drawn like moths pretty quickly. That formula appears to be working for you, so I say keep that up. :)

@@SoupSoupOfficialI'm glad it seems useful to you. As a point of reference, even some of the folks on Hermitcraft are being vocal about taking things a little more slowly, trying to build in survival instead of their test worlds and then transferring that to the server. If you peek around RUclips, you will see there are lots of pockets of this mindset and it really does extend beyond Minecraft RUclips into other genres. It may not be widespread yet, but I have seen it enough places around to notice a trend or a pattern. Good luck, SoupSoup!

I like the way you talk and do things. It’s not screaming to the microphone and begging for consent attention just simple narrating to listen and watch while eating or working. Also I appreciate the fact that you don’t force building an automatic farm of something before making a project. If I would want to watch that I’d simply watch the tutorial.

Don't lose sight of the original purpose of the series, my friend. We are all just here to sit back and enjoy the ride. Your builds don't have to be groundbreaking, huge, or even original. They just have to be special to you. 😊 You shouldn't have to worry about improving your video formula because so many people see it and love it. We picked up the series because of what it is, and that's good enough to satisfy me, if not the algorithm. My best wishes to you Soupsoup, and keep up the energy!

I really like your videos because your play style matches mine! Enjoying building and exploring more than speed running to kill the dragon or building the biggest mega builds there are. And I like that you're not zooming around or flying everywhere but need to pillar up or use scaffolding just like me 😊
I also get a lot of inspiration and great tips from your videos since I am kinda new to building without following a tutorial.
Oh! And I just love Gill and his shenanigans! Keep up the great work, and I hope to catch your next life stream too!

The reason I watch your videos is simplicity aesthetics, your world looks very pretty and its not for the sake of us wanting to see it as pretty but because you want a nice base to be in, your not appeasing anyone, you are inspired and open about that from those like Dallasmed that I've been watching for years. Yet you are self contained, you just play the game for the game and not using the game as a means to be competitive. You are just a normal player, and that simple normality is comforting to watch.

I feel like what sets you apart from other Minecraft Let's plays is that this world truly feels like it is yours and you're choosing to share it with us. Most Minecraft RUclipsrs or lets plays, good or bad, feel like they're making a world solely for the challenge or because it would be a good video title. It feels like the Minecraft RUclipsr has no connect to the world. With this series, I feel like I'm getting to learn about and "hangout" with a dude who is willing to share something about himself and express himself through a fun Minecraft world that is something you don't see a lot on the internet recently.

What's inspiring to me is that you don't just try to shape the world on your own, you let the world play its part, it's a conversation.
It's very refreshing because your builds are scaled down to a relatable size and yet the world feels so much richer than most Minecraft YT these days. 👏👏👏

When I watch other RUclipsrs making massive projects every video, it's sorta alienating
I much prefer seeing a world slowly come together bit by bit with little things here and there.
I grew up watching Stampylongnose and I miss that slow, one step at a time style. You do something similar in your own way, and I like that!

I've been meaning to comment since I saw your first video. The whole premise of your videos and helping people get the inspiration of getting back into the game really hit home with me. Being the military, I usually have plenty of time and mental energy to play Minecraft and all the games in my Steam library. I've been playing Minecraft off and on since September 2009. Whenever I took a short break from the game, I always knew I would come back within a month or two max. Nearly 3 years ago I got deployed to a unit that really took a toll on my mental health, and because of that and my lack of time being home, I didn't really "play" Minecraft during the next 2 years. Every once in a while, I would start the game, explore a bit, maybe even start collecting all the saplings, corral the different farm animals, collect one of each type of crop to start farms, and even go do some mining for those precious ores. Never in those two years, did I even start a base or keep a world for more than a few days. Now that I've transferred to a different unit where my mental health has mostly recovered, and I've started watching the new Hermitcraft episodes and your videos, and enjoyed a lot of the other great Minecraft content out there, I feel I can finally build myself a base and get that immersive feeling of really being at home while playing the game. I credit good content creators like yourself (and my unit change) with my ability to finally get back into having better mental health and truly enjoying gaming and life in general once again. Thank you SoupSoup, for all the inspiration, and helpful ideas you share about how to truly enjoy the game again!

8:08 Hey man, in my honest opinion take as long as you need of course. But I couldn't go as far to say that you need to publish something better each time.
We're all here for the simple an relaxing ride along the way. It's actually a vibe and perfect to just do what you're doing from the start already, your goal was not making anything too big and just pleasing like it used to. See my point? Same goes for the video's!
It's like old RUclips in a way if you get what I mean. Just a nice playthrough, nothing too big and spectacular.

The main reason why i’m watching you is bacause you don’t make the over the top builds or extremely op farm on day 1-100. This is a world that me and i assume a lot of other players could have too. I’m not the best builder, i’m nog the best redstone guy but these good looking not too big builds make me want to play my world again.

  • @FenrirInFlowers
    @FenrirInFlowers 8 месяцев назад

I'm here because your videos are fun, relaxing, and make me want to play Minecraft. All those videos where folks are doing ridiculous amounts of work to build insane stuff in sped up time-lapse segments don't feel like the actual game anymore. The pressure and how they make me feel like I need to play in an unrealistic way have started to make me exhausted. Slower gameplay that feels like someone is actually having fun playing is wonderful and relateable. It's not even about big projects vs small projects. It's refreshing to see the game approached at a reasonable pace instead of 40,000 blocks collected offscreen from some super farms and then a 2 minute time-lapse for something with the complexity of a castle or giant cathedral. Things don't have to be perfect. It's a process, and the builds can continue to develop with you. I also love the lore and world building. Your base isn't some pretty facade that feels empty. The spaces are used and lived in. I love watching long-term worlds grow bit by bit too.
