I find it hilarious that Arin and Dan are so confused why the characters are questioning Rantaro's motive for entering the library. Out of context, it doesn't sound weird for him to go to the library, but in context, going to the library to read when you're mere minutes away from being mauled by an army of animatronic teddy bears is definitely not normal.
It's definitively not strange either though, like where COULD you go that was safe? Might as well try to get some reading in before you die. So, yes, it is weird for the characters to wonder why he came there.

I kinda like the original voice he used for kiibo for like 4 lines before he realized he was a robot. The voice he’s doing now would be way better suited for Monodam when he finally starts talking more. Which I think he’s gonna realize, and then either have to give one of them a completely different voice or just give them both the robot voice and have it be confusing

Your prediction will almost certainly come true except for one thing: You don't "suck up words" in this game. They replaced that with a much more interesting mechanic.

Agreed! It's so insane how much sense these scenes make in hindsight, I can't believe I didn't see it before.
Danganronpa may not be known for good writing, but they kind of nailed it in this first chapter.
The moments are all slightly odd, but not enough to think anything is going on, like last episode where it doesn’t let you move on in the warehouse til you’ve inspected a *certain something*. It makes you go “uh… okay I guess we’re waiting here? I guess I should inspect stuff?” but you still move on without thinking about it too much. It’s really great.

Are they really clairvoyant moments when Arin pre-read all the trials and overarching plot to speed the game up and not seem do dumb, even though literally everyone else is on the same level of dumb when it comes to these sorts of games? He did the same thing in DR2 after he was traumatized by how dumb he felt in DR1. If Dan makes predictions, that's one thing, but Arin? Why he's going to pretend to go in blind while still making spot-on "predictions" is fucking baffling. It's like he's trying to ruin it for Dan.

I mean, I know humor is subjective and everything, but even if I did find their bits funny, I think I’d still be annoyed at how they barge into every other scene to disrupt the flow of the story just to spout some stupid shit and kill the pacing.
No it isn't.
It's easier to deal with them in the Japanese Dub where their greetings and farewells are essentially just "Hi Kuma!" and "Bye Kuma!" which allows you to appreciate how much their theme "Rise and Shine, Ursine!" actually slaps. Whenever they were pissing me off, I'd just pause the game and listen to BGM for a second and I'd feel MUCH better.
Might just be me but arin seems so much more interested in this one and willing to accept the absurdity. I’m so excited to see this trial 👀

I think this just might be ( at least for me ) their funniest Danganronpa playthrough yet. Both of them have gotten used to the absurd nature of the game and their comedy really blended here.

Ryoma doesn't have a huge foot, his foot is facing forwards and he has a chain on his ankle. He's the Ultimate Prisoner so he just leaves it on as like a fashion accessory. It's on the nose, but the characters in this games are like that.
I dunno, he may not be able to take it off. So I wouldn’t call it a fashion accessory, especially when wearing it can be super inconvenient.

This is the 1st play through of the game I’ve watched since finishing it and I got to say the 1st Chapter hurts so much more knowing the truth. There is so many little moments that you don’t really notice or think well that was strange, and in the end they were all signs. :(

I haven't heard the word japanimation since the late 90s. Dan just took me back to my childhood of watching DBZ, Sailor Moon, and Card Captors.
As much as I was a kid to say something along the lines of "No, it's called anime, Dad!" I must admit that japanimation has more of an appeal to me now as an adult.

Seeing this game after having already played it is a fun experience. The little hints and just seeing the interaction of characters. There is a lot to say but I would not want to spoil anything.
We are definitely going to need a Friday episode since the chapters keep getting longer and longer. Maybe even 1 hour episodes?
I mean they said they’d do 1 hour episodes, so it’s really confusing as to why besides the prologue, they only end at 40 mins

If the average runtime per episode is about 45 minutes, and How Long to Beat says this game takes about 39 hours to beat, that means we're in for about 52 total episodes of Dangonronpa 3. That works out to about 23 more weeks from when this episode came out to get through the game, not accounting for them taking breaks and playing something else on the weekends in the middle of this playthrough. I think longer, maybe even an hour and a half long, episodes are probably justified for this game.
No, I think 52 episodes is perfect for this series.

LPs always take longer, with the players reading lines and adding commentary and so on (and of course there’s a mental tax to all that that makes the game harder). I’d compare the amount of footage in other LPs to see what percentage we are into this one, and use that to estimate the amount of footage remaining.

The great satisfaction of these games is seeing characters like her and knowing that sooner or later you won't have to deal with her anymore
I hope at some point someone tells them about how badly localized Tenko is. In Japanese she speaks politely about everyone, indicative of a martial artist. She is also, in Japanese, very annoying, but that is a character trait. The hating men thing came from how she referred to boys with a pun using the kanji for 'men' and 'death' instead of 'men' and 'child'. I wish the translators and localization team didn't alter her personality so harshly. She comes across a lot more mean in English, whereas in Japanese she's just excitable and childish.
Also Angie makes a lot more sense when you find out that in the Japanese version 'Atua' is just. Christian God.

@@octopusbreadyeah gonta was really disappointing for me when i first checked out the english version since i originally played the game in japanese... i'm normally a pretty big defender of most localisation choices (even angie's i can at least understand since even if you interpret her "kamisama" as the christian god it's still meant to be a fairly foreign idealogy to the player as christianity is pretty rare in japan - so emulating that "foreign-ness" for western players by creating a new god makes some degree of sense) but gonta's caveman-ification just.... baffles me. it doesn't add anything substantial to his character - in fact it takes AWAY from the idea that he takes being a gentleman so seriously he trained himself to speak extremely politely despite being raised in the woods. he's my favourite character and his speech patterns were a pretty big part of that so the translators deciding "he speaks in the third-person so we'll just translate it as caveman talk" really sucked :(

@@af3897 he speaks exclusively in full, articulate sentences using the polite form (not extremely formal so no keigo or anything - he just sounds really polite/kind and has a very soothing/sweet kind of voice imo)! the only particularly "strange" thing about his speech is that he uses 'gonta' as a first person pronoun instead of boku/ore/etc. which isn't even necessarily grammatically incorrect - it's just a fairly cutesy/childish way to refer to yourself, which i always thought was a cute contrast with his otherwise mature way of talking :)
so, for example, if gonta said something like "gonta think bathroom is suspicious. want to go with him?" in the english version, he'd probably say something like "gonta thinks that the bathroom seems suspicious. would you like to investigate it together?" in japanese! i'd recommend listening to a few of his jp voicelines if you want - i don't think you have to understand japanese to get a feel for his personality from them!

Isn't it already established that the other very iPad-esque tablets in the game are referred to as "student handbook Monopads" (e.g., 31:29), so it may just be that Monopad refers to the device itself, and it can either be programmed as a student handbook or a monokuma file? Have no idea of outcome with her, just pointing out that the word Monopad is used by other characters
