Tennessee ran most of the game because they were in cruise control. Nico didn't need to throw for 200+ yards because Tennessee had the game wrapped up by halftime.
@@servantotmhg9568 stats without context are useless. Nico didn't throw the ball for many yards because the gameplan was to run. The sooner's game plan was to throw because they were behind. Nico didn't need to throw and Hawkins did so of course he's going to have that many yards.
You need a run game established to have a good passing game, and in order to have a run game you need an o-line that isn’t inept. Now maybe MH can make some scores in spite of the o-line but nothing is guaranteed until you get an o-line that can actually make blocks and not look weak. And frankly I’m curious how Bedenbaugh fumbled the bag this badly.
Reaction time is key, and I think processing time combined with MH reaction and release time, definitely serves a QB who may not have the luxury of a Bad Dawg O'line, in that regard Michael Hawkins tends to digest voluminous amounts of critical information and deduces it into proper outcomes at a higher rate than JA
Why did Michigan win the Natty last year? They had an offensive line. They had dudes that went on to the NFL. Until our offensive line improves significantly it really won’t matter much who is QB. The run game opens the passing game. There is way too much talk about QBs and not enough talk about the root problem…the line. I get it. QBs are more fun and entertaining to talk about but OU needs to get their foundational players in order to be successful. It is going to be a long year if they don’t. It is what it is.
True, well, that and cheating... I agree with you O'line is crucial, in the short term a QB's reaction and release time, processing speed on the battlefield is critical since O'line seems not to be a viable option. In a perfect offense , line etc... JA might have done better, but chinks in the armor comes into plain view when your window for success is measured in micro seconds.
Hawkins had 132 passing yards thru 2 qtrs versus Nico who had 194 for the entire game

Q back ratings were about the same
Nico will get injured if he maintains his running. I’m still not a believer in Nico. If he weren’t fast and tall, he’d be a 3 star.
We got our tickets to go to the Auburn game to see the new Michael Hawkins offense and era begin
Yep, I'll be on the OU side Upper 40 ydln

Nice! John and Jay make a great team for Locked on Sooners!
Hawkins just needs to facilitate the offense and take what they give him
He'll be a star if he simply avoids bonehead turnovers

The most surprising thing about the OU offense V Tenn was JFA's ineptitude

We had to go with Hawkins. Jackson was just horrible this yr. You almost had to. Sadly.
Reminds me of the sam Bradford year when he went down at halftime against BYU the offensive line was riddled the rest of the year
where the entire hell is anthony?
JA has a mental problem, he just needs to reset . kinda like the yips
He's had a mental problem since the bowl game
What's the word on Tatum?
Can we see Hicks or Robinson at RB
Apparently Murray doesn't trust them or they would be out there as much as we're hurting for a good RB game.
Id like to see Sam get some looks, he runs with his pads low and is quick with attacking the holes or creating his own path if need be

JA looked good under Lebby. His bad games started when Seth Littrell became OC.
IF Hawkins lights it up from now on, we will be able to put that theory to rest
