I recently tried grapefruit for the first time! I think it's now my favorite citrus and just yesterday I was wondering about planting a tree! I love the process of cutting it open without hitting the flesh, peeling away the juice pods from the pith, and getting every last bit. It's sort of meditative 😊

Not funny joke: Maine is a major producer of blueberries. The state encouraged literal blueberry plantations and a pest appeared. Even few bushes a blueberry maggot appeared. the state recommended a pesticide. Farmers used it and the next year discovered the pesticide killed off predators that ate the pest.
Yellow jackets are awesome. I want to see more (never been stung a-tall, God bless) wasps and plant sugar cane sorghum because they love the sap.
Organic is how to go. chemical diets add too much nitrogen and pests find that sweet.
Horned toads love fire ants. When we moved home to AZ, we had 4 kissing bugs in the house in one summer. I followed the Vietnamese plan and after killing them, each went on a fire ant nest, smacked the colony a few times, and saw no more kissing bugs for years.
Ants are harvesters, stealing seed and killing it to raise their fungus gardens. A few nests per acre are good. More and they'll wipe out annual plants fast.
Rolly pollies eat seeds and sprouted seeds, too. They and garden roaches will wipe out a garden.

I dont really spray my trees with insecticides. most of the time i let the ladybugs take care of aphids or other pests. however, my peaches get this grub that retard growth and rot fruit. So i am at my wits end with that one

So far my cold hardy (zone 8b) grapefruit is thriving. I don't have it in the ground yet, waiting on some more work around the property (clearing of sun blocking trees) before I plant so probably a year from now in the fall is when I will plant my Grapefruit, Lemon, Avocado and cold hardy Banana in the ground here in WA

Hi Jay, long time no see. Do you have a website other than Facebook. I think I got hacked or something and haven't been able to get on Facebook for over a couple of years. I'd be interested in getting some more trees from you at some point.
