I was inspired by your posting of the sardine fast. I have autoimmune problems. So I decided to do it as long as I can. So far it’s good… 1.5 weeks. Down 17.5 pounds so far. I’m feeling great.
I’ve been on a weight loss journey While taking GLP1 medication for almost 2 years. I’ve lost 131 pounds so far with 30 to go. the first year I ate a keto diet since then I have been on a carnivore diet for almost a year now. The GLP1 medication helps with the food noise. I physically have felt my best on the carnivore diet. Each person has their own path to health, the combination of carnivore and GLP1 has been working for me.
Girl, we are so similar when it comes to food! I feel this video 10000%! Maybe try crisping up your leftover ground beef? I struggle with leftover ground beef, but making it little crispy bits seems to help me. Thanks for the info about GLP as well, I'm going to incorporate more fasting. I have a family of skinnies in my house, I'm the only one who needs to lose 80 lbs, yay for me. And I'm a stay at home mom who emotionally eats and cannot get a grasp on hunger cues, yet at least. Praying for change and the will to keep going!
I am so happy you're talking about this (GLP-1)! I just love watching your stuff that i didn't even read the title. To be honest, I was feeling sort of sad thinking thatbyour content may not be 100% relatable to me as I did not have the success I was hoping for. I felt like I was going to have to give up my carnivore peeps because most, if not all would just dismiss me because I decided to give tirzepatide a try. After 1.5 years on carnivore, I gained 20 lbs. I tracked, counted weighed, high fat, high protein, exercised, fasted and so on, and yet scale just kept going up!! I have been diagnosed with Hashimotos. Despite eating my maintenance calories or in a deficit, I still effing gained. I finally went to my doctor over the summer regarding my weightloss resistance. Fasting insulin: 2.3, fasting glucose: 76, A1C 5.0, HDL 80, Trigs 43, thyroid numbers on point, so wtf??!! He said, well, you're eligible for the injections. Initially I was offended! So he referred me to an endocrinologist, she ran labs, everything looked great and she too suggested the injections. But she also referred me back to my naturopath. Frustrated, I went back to my naturopath (which insurance does not cover) and expressed my plight about my the other doctors pretty much not having an answer to my weight gain and only reccomending glp-1 medication as their solution. And to my surprise she says she uses them in her practice too! Shr discussed microdosing and supplementing with the proobiotic akkermansia. So that's when I started my research. Even though my labs look good (even had my leptin checked, vitamin d, sex hormones etc) I must be dealing with either too low of insulin or some sort of insulin resistance (all my weight is in my midsection). So medications like semaglutide (glp-1) and tirzepatide (glp-1 and GIP) are agonist drugs, meaning, these peptides act like hormones that bacteria in our gut make. These hormones (messengers) interact with our brains in phenomenonal ways. So yes, you can have a deficiency in a certain gut microbe that produce these enzymes or hormones that our body needs to activate insulin properly or suppress glucagon etc. Honestly, people can have a lack of certain microbes that help support the production of Serotonin that can ultimately lead to depression. So long ass story short, I did a crap ton of reading and decided to give tirzepatide (this is a dual agonist peptide, glp-1 aka ozempic/wegovy is a single agonist peptide). And I gave not had any negative side effects! I have so much more energy and it helps me to eat in more of a deficit (1500 cals as opposed to 1800) I still am mostly carnivore...more "ketovore" meat, eggs, veggies and some fruit. But honestly, I would love to know how your friend is doing on this medication while carnivore! Anyway, I find it wild that just a month ago, I decide to go on this direction and then one of my favorite carnivores is open to talking about it. Thank you for being so vulnerable and saying every step of your journey! I have enjoyed your content so much!
I’m so glad you shared bcuz I’m in the same situation. I’ve been on keto + carnivore for 5+ yrs. I lost 66 lbs, but still had another 50+ to go. I have MS, and other challenges that make weight loss difficult. I’ve been doing keto/carnivore + Wegovy and I’m not sad about it. Even tho I was doing everything right, something was still off in my body and needed some support. It’s nice to have others out there going through the same journey. I appreciate your post! 🎉
Honestly right there with you!! I’ve been considering GLP-1 combined with Carnivore. I’m also a volume eater and struggle with all of these things. Thanks for the update ❤
Girl you have every right to be excited, proud, nervous, etc. It's a defining moment of accomplishment writing a book and having it published. You celebrate!
Carnivore and using GLP-1. I’m truly insulin resistant, it was a total game changer for me. Try it, it either works or doesn’t but it won’t hurt you. And Dr. Tyna’s message is something worth listening to - why do we let ourselves get so metabolically sick before using meds that are safe and effective. Makes no sense! Good luck on this next path on your journey.
Please don’t use that medication your doing brilliant just track you foods I struggle to I’m diabetic type 3c medical after loosing my pancreas it’s hard but it’s my hard good luck Courtney love faye uk 🇬🇧
6:00 I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how you don’t take yourself so seriously that you can poke fun😂❤ Also I’m rooting for you. I hope you can get to the point where you are content with yourself. I don’t think chasing the ideal weight on your scale is going to help you. I think you need to give yourself some grace in your food journey. 🫶🏽 keep contrasting now with before and focusing on the positives.
love this video - I also have my last 10-12 lbs and up down up down -and I struggle with obsessive eating -your not alone- also Dr boz talk s about butter being just as affective as the glp-1
Oh that’s interesting! I’ll have to check that out. I have hear her mention a butter fast, but haven’t watched videos on it. I’d rather do that than a sardine fast!
I’m with you. I don’t like having to put all my recipes into carb manager. Especially when I substitute ingredients each time. And, no, there are negative reports coming back from the GLP1 receptors. Gastric stasis, increases the number of fat cells, and you must stay on it as long as you don’t want to gain weight. When you go off, the increased number of cells get a lot fatter.
I hear though, that the negatives are when one is using a higher dose, not so much the microdosing. But that could possibly not be accurate. I do worry about the things you mentioned!
This is the video I needed. Thank you. I’ve also gained 8 pounds back of my 25 lost. I am probably eating more quantity but only ketovore. No cheats. Will have to temporarily cut my portions. You are giving me the inspiration to prep my two meals. Thank you!!!!
I'm in Canada. I have been watching you for a year or so, i love your reaction to finding your book on the shelf❤ day 5 egg fast for me -7lbs, and i messed up, i had cream for first 3 days🤪🎉
I loved this brain dump! I've been in the same mi dset, so I can relate. The difference is that you jumped in and did something. I also need to action 🎉
I dont like seeing anyone back slide, but I'm right there with you! You're not alone. I to, am up like 7lbs. If you have any tips on how to lose the weight after falling off the band wagon. PLEASE let me know!
I feel like God gives us these "practical, not emotional" men for a reason 😂 My hubby is your hubby and I'm you....I get it. Us woman need to fast a wee bit different, especially around menstrual cycle. I did a fast on my first day of period and felt soooo faint. I also have Hashimotos 🥴 so I don't know how much that may stress the thyroid. But I agree with your husband I felt better the second day. After the fast though I noticed I've been craving meat with lots of fat and butter I'm just leaning into that. Best of luck! Can't wait to grab your book.
I took mounjaro for 8 months, the food noise was gone, no hunger. I am glad I used it, it helped me develop my habits now. I have been off for 6 months, I was keto and it helped me while I was trying carnivore/ketovore. I hate meds but it helped me, I have lost 85 lbs. If you have questions feel free to ask me.
I’m not Courtney but I do have a question. I took the meds for 6 months, felt sick 24/7 but did have weight loss and think I reset how I think and feel about eating. I still have weight to lose and was wondering if you’ve had weight loss after going off meds. I feel i would like to transition to more of a carnivore diet over low carb.
This was so relatable!! I lost 35 pounds then gained 7! I need to track my macros again. I did a 96 hour water fast a couple of weeks ago. It wasn’t too bad. I’m the same, my hunger cues aren’t reliable.
Just like salt and fat were demonized, so have these peptides. Did people over dose themselves here and there? Apparently yes. But overall, these side effects are rare and are due to too much medicine. You should check out Dr Tyna Moore’s podcast. She has a playlist telling the truth about how medicinal the peptides are and how all the negatives are due to overdosing. Even the standard schedule is too much for many people. And then they aren’t being told the necessity of eating meat and lifting. Dr Amie Hornaman also has a podcast on this. It’s crazy how we are, yet again, being lied to about something that could help and heal so many people. 😢
Glp1 is something to deeply RESEARCH. The two people that I know that we're on it for an extended period of time one of them was told she needs to be on it for life or she'll gain back so now she's on a very small dose , forever, because she actually got too skinny and they needed to give her less dose and my other friend went off of it and gained ot all back plus more. It's very similar to the rage of the diet pills in the 80s. You feel amazing on them but the long-term is the problem Just watch the video that Tucker did with the guy that worked for the company concerning these meds. I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pool unless I was morbidly obese
Agreed research is needed. Check out the Mark Hyman podcast with Casey Means and Dr Tyna Moore and watch to the end. She actually works with patients. Casey does not. He’s treating this like it’s cholesterol medicine which it is not. Cholesterol medicine is not natural to our body. Peptides are natural to our body. It’s more like a hormone. We supplement testosterone, progesterone, estrogen etc all the time in people who can no longer produce it and it changes their lives. And yes, they have to take it for life. And they wouldn’t change it for a second. I highly suggest after the Casey/Tyna debate you head to Dr Tyna Moore’s podcast where she lays out why standard medicine is doing this wrong and how to do it the right way so you don’t have side effects, maintain your muscle and heal yourself. It’s game changing for people.
I have seriously considered taking the glp1 but I am a bit afraid. I would love a boost to lose 30 lbs so I don't feel like garbage. It would help if I stay carnivore for more than 2 days at a time.
Check out Dr Tyna Moore’s playlist Ozempic Done Right. This will arm you with some information on side effects, can they be avoided? How to maintain your muscle? And so much more.
Do u use iodine? If you're not treating thyroid you will def gain and struggle to loose. I love GLP-1 meds. They have numerous benefits. Personally it was very tolerable and helpful. And have u ever had fasting insulin checked? Lot of carnivore docs talk about it.
According to Dr Berry and others can't really get too much. And if healthy kidneys will just pee out any extra. Also fluoride being an issue blocking the uptake. Yeah. Good luck girl!
Men are so funny.. total opposites to women, which is how it's meant to be, but it's hilarious to see the contrast at times. xD! Btw... You always look beautiful, so don't worry about that one bit, silly lady. YAY for the cookbook in stores!! Congrats!! As for the GLP-1.. I am someone who has an extremely screwed up metabolism. So I understand your struggle and because we live in a world where we're exposed to so much that naturally works against our bodies... ...sometimes our bodies likely do need help. That is my thinking. I wish it wasn't so, but sometimes, it makes sense that we might need something more. Whether GLP-1 is the answer or not for your body, I do not know. How you choose to deal with your own health is a personal choice though and ultimately, you do what you feel is the best path for your body.
Beware of fasting. It messed up my hormones bad, due to stress on my body. Just be careful. I do intermittent fasting but nothing longer than 14 hours. High fat carnivore has been amazing for me!! I have not gained any weight at all and my energy is so high. Cravings gone, hunger, gone. 🎉
It makes me sad when people, mostly women, have maybe 10-15 pounds (or less) to lose and the scale stalls and they turn to the GLP-1 drugs. I know it’s a mind game with the scale and weight! I think it can be a very slippery slope. Anyway, of course everyone will do what they are comfortable with but hate that the industry allows this drug to be used by people who truly aren’t obese. Love you Courtney!! Love your videos and your cookbook is wonderful!!! Thanks for all you share and do. 😊 And you really look great!
You should check our Dr Tyna Moore and Dr Amie Hornaman’s podcasts on these. They talk about the reasons someone can’t lose that weight and it’s not due to lack of effort. It’s due to undying issues that often don’t show up on bloodwork. And this actually addresses that underlying issue as well as so many other issues. It’s really not a drug, it’s a peptide mimicking peptides in our body. Collagen is a peptide. Insulin is a peptide. It’s similar to taking thyroid or BHT in that it’s supplementing something off in your body. I think your mind will be blown when the truth about these comes out. Are they being used incorrectly? Yes. Are they evil? No. You can actually heal without losing a single pound.
Thank you! I understand what you’re saying, but it’s more than just the weight loss. I’m also reading that this is helping people with their arthritis too. I’d love to get my insulin and glucose issues figured out, which is why I’m digging deeper into this. But of course would love to figure it out without meds, but it’s been a struggle!
Dr Cywes the carb addiction doc says he uses Ozempic in patients with stubborn insulin resistance after they are on a low carb diet with exercise. He mentioned that people don't stay on Ozempic that long just to give them some help. I like that idea of micro dosing especially if it's for a short time.
I found if I divert from beef butter and bacon. Anything sweet makes the noises in my head take over. So for me nothing sweet! Not even electrolytes It’s the “keto” foods that derail my progress and I’ve noticed everyone else who dabbles in non carnivorous foods also gains.
The only way I can eat leftover meat (especially hamburger) is by heating it in my veggie steamer. I use it also for to cook seafood. Adds moisture and the texture is like you just cooked it.😁
I take the GLP 1. I mainly started taking it to get my sugar cravings under control. I was so out of control, and i was told that GLP 1 medication helps with addictions. They were correct. I can walk by sweets without obsessing over them now.
Be careful, as binge eaters fasting could be of double edge. It should occur naturally. I lost 40 pounds walking in the morning 10k minimum fasted and eating just when I got hungry, wich sometimes was only in the afternoon, just listening to my body.
What I’ve heard is if you’re prioritizing protein and lifting weights then it shouldn’t be an issue. That it’s the ones continuing on with their SAD diet that have those issues 🤷♀️
Just my opinion, stay away from any medication if your doctor hasn't said you have a disease and you will die without it! So many problems and effects with a short term fix to loose weight. Doing it the hard way is not easy but your health will thank you. I'm trying to do my own healthy way of eating, vitamins and minerals, etc to help with my auto immune disorders. I don't want to be on medication, my body is designed to heal and if my doctor says I'm going to die without medication then I will consider meds for a very short term adjustment. Also remember it took u us long time to get a body in the state it is in and it's going to take time to heal.Just my opinion
I think she is doing it the hard way and it’s not working. We’ve been lied to and told this is a drug. A drug is cholesterol medication. It’s not natural to our body. GLP-1 is a peptide - which mimics what is in our body. A lot of things do not show up on blood tests that are in fact present. I know I went to the doctor for years with symptoms of hashimotos and was sent away with Zoloft. Unfortunately, our medical in this country is not good. 🫤
Hi Courtney! I'm 72, T2 diabetic for 25 years (!!) and obese. Working with Dr. Rob Cywes, who strongly recommended that I take semaglutide (ozempic), so I'm doing that. It's beginning to work. Yes, our bodies do make GLP-1, and semaglutide is an "antagonist" for it, which means it increases our output of GLP-1. There can be ugly side effects on higher doses, but I am NOT on a higher dose. Taking it primarily for my high insulin / insulin resistance, but also beginning to see weight loss. I wouldn't take the drug just to lose weight, but people I love are dropping like flies from T2D. Hope this info helps you.
My friend and her husband are on the GLP-1 meds and not only are they super expensive, they’ve had side effects. My friend tried to come off of it due to the price but she gained weight immediately. I stalled for a long time on regular carnivore but I’m doing lion currently (day 8) and the scale is finally moving down again.
It’s hard when you have family to care for. My husband will bring home danish and tell me it’s mine. He will bring home snacks and now I tell him it put them in his tv room. When your hungry and trying to stay on program or fast he wants me to cook bacon! It’s hard!!!!
The goal for me in life is to be on no medications. All medications come with side effects. The side effects of Ozempic are not fully known yet, but some include permanent gastroparesis. That’s a death sentence basically. Not worth it.
You know the answer to your concern… I’ve looked into lots and lots of videos and research for autoimmune. As well as thyroid/hormone you name it. Base line it come down to 60/40. 60% fat and 40% protein. They’ve all said they didn’t get healed or even saw the last of the weight come off or even break the stall until they raised the fat % in the foods they ate.
@@CourtneyLuna me too! I’ve had 6 Tbsp of cold butter today. I splurged and had mackerel cakes instead of sardines for my Omega 3s today! When you think of eating this much fat in a day, compare that to the way I was raised. In HS I used to take a container of diet jello for lunch. That was all I ate. I was not fat. I ate a lot of baked chicken, no skin. Then after married I fixed all low fat foods. It was the thing to do.
@@YeshuaKingMessiah My point is these drugs should be a last resort and used only for the truly obese with life threatening co morbidities. We do not know of the effects down the road. So far what we have seen has not been all positive. I am an RN who sees the effects of obesity every day. But to use them for the last few pounds in unnecessary. We get too impatient with ourselves myself included but these drugs are not the end all be all.
You’ve been “carnivoring” for quite some time now with different approaches. Seems, it’s just not working anymore. I wonder if you added some carbs, you would see improvement with your hunger signals, and subsequently weight loss. With All these carb imitation meals you make, maybe that’s what you need. Ted Naiman talked about it. Ironically, as someone who used to have poor control around junk food, after the whole keto/carnivore rabbit hole, adding a small amount of whole food carbs back actually improved my hunger signals. I gained weight on carnivore because I would overeat on fatty meat, butter, bacon, etc.
U would need to decrease the protein if ur increasing the fat So u might not have been overeating the fat, but overeating the protein due to increased fat.
I was inspired by your posting of the sardine fast. I have autoimmune problems. So I decided to do it as long as I can. So far it’s good… 1.5 weeks. Down 17.5 pounds so far. I’m feeling great.

This was so relatable!! I lost 35 pounds then gained 7! I need to track my macros again. I did a 96 hour water fast a couple of weeks ago. It wasn’t too bad. I’m the same, my hunger cues aren’t reliable.
Isn’t it so frustrating. Great job on your success so far!
In the same boat. PLEASE KEEP US POSTED. I’m doing a very similar challenge for myself.
Good for you. Go to what you know is good for you!
Nooooo on the GLP- 1 medication!! Too many side effects! I heard it can cause permanent stomach problems and eye problems.
You feel amazing on them but the long-term is the problem
Just watch the video that Tucker did with the guy that worked for the company concerning these meds.
Thank you
Do u use iodine? If you're not treating thyroid you will def gain and struggle to loose. I love GLP-1 meds. They have numerous benefits. Personally it was very tolerable and helpful. And have u ever had fasting insulin checked? Lot of carnivore docs talk about it.
I don’t. I’ve started going down the rabbit hole on it and see mixed reviews on it
According to Dr Berry and others can't really get too much.
Thank you so much for this!! Appreciate you!
I've been thinking and asking the same question about it.
I think that’s probably not a bad idea! I wonder if I may be slightly insulin resistance
I found if I divert from beef butter and bacon. Anything sweet makes the noises in my head take over. So for me nothing sweet!
Not even electrolytes
It’s the “keto” foods that derail my progress and I’ve noticed everyone else who dabbles in non carnivorous foods also gains.
The only way I can eat leftover meat (especially hamburger) is by heating it in my veggie steamer. I use it also for to cook seafood. Adds moisture and the texture is like you just cooked it.😁
Great tip!
I take the GLP 1. I mainly started taking it to get my sugar cravings under control. I was so out of control, and i was told that GLP 1 medication helps with addictions. They were correct. I can walk by sweets without obsessing over them now.
That’s so wonderful. Life changing!
🎉🎉🎉
Be careful, as binge eaters fasting could be of double edge. It should occur naturally. I lost 40 pounds walking in the morning 10k minimum fasted and eating just when I got hungry, wich sometimes was only in the afternoon, just listening to my body.
I agree! Had to make sure not to overdo it today. Sometimes the pendulum swings so far the other way after a fast. Ugh.
Do the research on ozempic or GLP1. Watch Dr Berry's video on these meds. People have said they lose muscle mass on yhe drugs.
What I’ve heard is if you’re prioritizing protein and lifting weights then it shouldn’t be an issue. That it’s the ones continuing on with their SAD diet that have those issues 🤷♀️
@@CourtneyLuna that makes so much sense!
I understand that, but like I said in the video this is so much more than weight loss
Thank you so much for sharing that!! Please keep me posted on how it works for you :)
Sounds like a good plan! I’m using my fat intake
Thank you for this 💜
The price does suck. Bad. There are compounds but of course the FDA and big pharma are trying to take that away. 🙄
Bacon grease ON the counter?! Please tell me more. Definitely interested in your hearing about that. 👍
Yes! Keep my butter on the counter too, but the backup in the fridge :)
Please share more in depth on non pharma resolutions you find in your research. ❤❤❤
Will do!
It’s hard when you have family to care for. My husband will bring home danish and tell me it’s mine. He will bring home snacks and now I tell him it put them in his tv room. When your hungry and trying to stay on program or fast he wants me to cook bacon! It’s hard!!!!
So hard! Mental struggle for sure
What do your macros look like? I am tracking calories and look at my macros trying to keep carbs under 25 g
The goal for me in life is to be on no medications. All medications come with side effects. The side effects of Ozempic are not fully known yet, but some include permanent gastroparesis. That’s a death sentence basically. Not worth it.
I hear ya! But interesting what it’s going and what it’s fixing. Would love to do that naturally with food, or even supplements to fix things
I’m higher fat at the moment! Praying for a miracle! 😂
Yes I eat about 80/20 for my thyroid!
I’m missing not getting to make some of the things in your book.
For a beef & pork producer closer to you, look at Farmer Tyler Ranch in northern CA. He is a fellow RUclipsr and has grass finished.
Thank you 🙏
What about crowd sourcing your recipes into carb manager?
Great idea!
Is health or the number on the scale a priority?
Health, of course, but I don’t think it’s healthy to have excess body fat
They’re very much related
Not even the scale but tape measure (body recomp), mirror and muscle strength/bone density
I do love the BBB & E idea!
PLEASE just research the cons and the side effects of GLP1 meds!!!!!
I am!! That’s why we’re talking about it lol
jammy eggs good!
Maybe you are not supposed to lose more weight..you look healthy and beautiful 😊
Thank you, but I still have a lot of body fat. And my glucose issues, it’s like my body can’t release it
You’ve been “carnivoring” for quite some time now with different approaches.
Definitely open to that, just need to make sure it wouldn’t be anything sweet. I’m easily triggered!
U would need to decrease the protein if ur increasing the fat
So u might not have been overeating the fat, but overeating the protein due to increased fat.
In the same boat. PLEASE KEEP US POSTED. I’m doing a very similar challenge for myself.
Will do!
