My jezdíme pro víno do Čejkovic ... možná nejstarší vinařská oblast u nás (známé i Templářské sklepy). Commandaria. Je to opravdu super. Jen ... se musí opatrně :-) ... má větší podíl alkoholu :-) ...
Do you know Cimmandaria wine? Even such wines are made in our country. Many Czechs and Moravians don't know it either, but ... it's an excellent wine. We get this wine from a friend from Čejkovice, only when it's a holiday :-). So even today. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commandaria
In a month or so (May) go visit and walk through the botanical gardens in Troja (Bohnice entrance), check out the Troja chateau and what we call the "the Prague Versailles" from the St. Claire winery and vineyards. Svata Klara, krasna prochazka and the view of the river.
This makes me EXCITED to finally travel to Czech to visit my husband's family so me and my mother in law can enjoy czech wine together. I live 45 mins from Sonoma and Napa Valley. I asked my mother in law what was her favorite wine (husband asked in Czech for me) and she kept saying White, so perhaps she can show me her favorite local whites when we visit. This is one of my favorite RUclips video of all time because it is the first time I've seen a virtual wine tasting and it is so fitting for these times.
Hi Samantha, so glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I had so much fun, it was such a nice way to "hang out" with friends. And having an expert guide to show us some really nice wine made it a real treat! Safe travels when you finally get to come, I hope it's soon!
You don't travel to "Czech." It's like traveling to French instead of France, saying you're from Danish instead of Denmark... It's the Czech Republic or Czechia...
@@firesfar9149 okay. As long as I've known my husband, he's referred to his own country as "Czech". Never questioned it. I sometimes call it the Czech Republic, too. But, good to know. I watched her video about the discussion about what is correct to call the country and some people (from the Czech Republic) agree with different things. Lol

Hi Jen, and Happy New Year to y'all all first and foremost! I am more like you, from beer straight to whiskey kinda drinker, but when in Rome... I go from beer to slivovice, or better yet to hruskovice (pear brandy), a less sweet brandy that is excellent in Bohemia. Not having much to add about Moravian wines, I will mention a small production from back in the day when the country was hidden behind the iron curtain. The wine was from Roudnice nad Labem, north of Prague. They only produced one red and one white wine. It was exclusively supplied for the office of the President, and to institutions like the Presidium of the Academy of Science in Prague, where I got a bottle of each. The red was good, the white was to die for. The best white wine ever! One that comes close to it is a small brand from Alsace-Lorraine. PF 2021 !!
I like Palava as well, it has nice fruity and fresh taste. Palava is actually quite rare, because this type of plant doesn't grow on many vineyards. Other types of wine is often misleadingly labelled as Palava, because of it's popularity.
This was fantastic, I am Moravian, but I know nothing about wines and that we have so many good wines. Definitely one of the best vlogs I have seen in a long time. I like the dynamics and interactions between everyone. You should do some type of followup, perhaps in one of the wineries ... ??? I feel bad for the French lady, she was alone ....
Děkuji za velmi příjemné a obohacující video. S přítelkyní jsme milovníci vín a určitě jí udělá radost když se inspirujeme Vaším videem a uděláme si výlet na Moravu 🙂
thank you for the great tips Jen, the video was really cool. I like the passion and enthusiasm of the sommelier, I am definitely saving her contact details for some after-covid wine tasting tour.
To je fakt.A musím říct, že vína z Čech mi překvapivě chutnají více než moravská. :)
ok folks, this video is fantastic. We have been in few very different wineries, hard to compare (Canada, Greece, Italy and Vracov (city). Just every region has slightly different taste and every human has different taste as well. But one of best wines in my life was from Skarecky company. They are from Vracov- very cool place to stay overnight. Thanks for video again
Congratulations! According to my opinion, this video is so far the best one the American lady has published on RUclips. It can be a matter of discussion if the choice of wines is really representative for the Czech Republic, moreover the 4% of wine produced in Bohemia is not even mentioned, but the clip is an outstanding artistic feat tranducing the pleasant, friendly and relaxed atmosphere to the listeners.
Výborný díl a prima tipy.
Hi Jennifer , thanks for the nice video . Arielle is awesome . I like her fascination with wine . She knows a lot about the background and hisori of wines . I appreciate her personal knowledge of local producers .
I think you should also try Tramín červený and its crossover with Muller Thurgau called Pálava. Both are excellent sweeter aromatic wines and my personal favourites...
Hi Jen, I have been watching your videos just for few days but I really fell in love with them. We celebrate traditional feast "hody" in Moravia where we drink mostly vine. In my opinion that is the reason for such consumption of vine. :) There is a lot of singing and dancing and drinking. Also we have dance "cifrování" (it is quite "Moravian freestyle") that is quite physically demanding and you need a lot of vine to survive all of this. And family usually comes together to be there so more drinking etc. :) One of the most biggest is in Kyjov. I really recommend seeing this live. As for architecture you mentioned in some videos before I really love Telč especially square and castle. I am looking forward your next videos and have a nice year 2021. May the C19 is gracious to us. :)
Your best video so far...yes I'm from Moravia 😂 your video make me homesick. Last 24 years I'm living abroad US, México and now UK .Keep up the good work ...ohh I have almost forgot 😀 sommelier Arielle knows her business she is brilliant
Loved this video. All nice people and lots of good news. It added a lot to my almost no knowledge of our wine situation (I'm czech, from Prague - it explains a lot :-)). I have this feeling every moravian citizen tends to make his own wine behind his barn an it takes a lot of time to find some really good one. So after many years of tasting bad moravian wines I decided to not giving it another chance and switched to italian, french, austrian, german or simply non-czech wines, which quality is basically better understandable for me of. This video initiated my new belief. Maybe I should give our nation's produce another chance... Anyway I didn't expect this video to entertain and educate me so much and it did, so I thank you for it. I was going to spend the New Year's Eve drinking vodka with juice, but now I look in my wine shelf quite sure to open some.
Reading comments made by Moravians here about their wine ranking (drinkable - non-drinkable - for Praguers), makes your choice of wines from other regions quite obvious.
Děkuji Vám za nejúžasnější propagaci našich Moravských vín , vytečná vína se dělají i na Mělnicku a Mostecku :) Vemte kamarády do Znojma a nebo Mikulova , tam nikdy neprohloupíte a vinařům to pomůže .
Normally, I only differentiate wine to like/don't like so I really enjoyed the video. Wish you, Honza, Tobik, and your loved ones all the best in the new year! :)
I love moravian vine! I live in a small city in south moravia next to Bzenec (famous city with tasty vine) and most families here have its own vineyards. I would never buy a wine in a shop. The taste of local vine is amazing 🥰
So I had a great couple of nights in Valtice. I am not a wine person but after a sampling in a cellar, I vaguely remember the border patrol got involved around midnight because we accidently invaded Austria on the way back to the hotel.
@@DreamPrague Don't do it .. "Templarske sklepy" belongs to "supermarket wines." Maybe 15 years back (sh*t .. I'm getting old already) it was not bad, but times have changed. And specially after this semi-sweet varieties I can guarantee, that you will get a terrible hangover.
@@DreamPrague Templářské sklepy are famous among experts as quantity not quality producers. They even had to pay huge huge penalty for trying to sell Moldavian vine as "Moravian".
Miluju autentičnost a takových videí bych uvítala víc. 😊
Hey, a really good tasting and Arielle has done a great job introducing these wines/wineries (yet again...) touching on a few local wine myths that are all too common among the Czechs (like the Welsch... :-) entertaining and educative I really like that..
Čili to přenesení z Rakouska opravdu sedí.
I Know people who are producing wine just for tehmselves friends, 200-300 liters per year, I tasted them, not bad actually, their hobby and do it with love.

They (winemakers in S. Moravia) used to keep the best wines for themselves back then (before 1989). I've had the privilege to taste a bottle of wine from their personal stash and I can tell you.... it was the best wine I've ever tasted bar none. I remember it like today, thirty years later! I've never tasted any wine even close to that one and trust me, I'm trying :D
@@DreamPrague You actually can do that. There is an event made by Czech tourist club (KČT) every late September/early October called Pochod slováckými vinohrady (March through Slovácko vineyards) in which you go through a lot of little personal wineries often with owner present to taste Burčák (a step in crossing between grape juice and young wine) and sometimes their wines from previous years too. It starts in Hodonín and goes wine villages like Mutěnice, Dolní Bojanovice, Prušánky...
I have note to wine cellars, carved into the sand near Znojmo. There is one very interesting. It is located in village Šatov. Cellar is named "Malovaný sklep" (Painted cellar). It was pre WW2 wine bar and all walls in cellar are covered by paintings done by local artist Maxmillian Appeltauer. He continued to paint cellar after WW2, despite that he lose one hand in the war. Also some "sklepní uličky" (wine cellar streets) are beautiful places, for example "Plže" in Petrov village, "Bůdy" in Blatnice pod Svatým Antonínkem or "Nechory" in Prušánky village.
Thanks, it was a nice talk. Moravian wines are good, but remember that they are divided according to quality. Delicious wines are those with an attribute. E.g. selection of grapes, or late harvest. Newly also VOC. Delicious white wines are: Tramín, Pálava, Neuburské, etc. Be sure to ask them, they are not sour. And Znojmo is definitely great. Ask also about the Old Vineyards and the famous Šobes Vineyard.🙂 Good taste! 😉
No Asi nejlepší bude sednout na nějaký expres, sjet o Břeclavi a motorákem dál do neznámé a neprobádané divočiny jižní Moravy.
Hi, I arrived at your channel I think after watching a video from the Ladi & Margaret channel who are building a van conversion in a small town in the Czech Republic. It is funny how disappearing down the RUclips rabbit hole can lead to hidden gems. I have now watched your back catalogue and keep up with your new releases. Your Czech language videos have sparked a curiosity in me and I am contemplating starting to learn Czech. After all many people learn Spanish and French but how many can say they have learned Czech 🤓. I have seen your recommendation for Italki but would rather get some practice under my belt before taking any lessons or having a conversation. I have been looking for some reference books (English - Czech dictionary, grammar, pronunciation) and apps but to be honest the reviews all seem to contradict each other. I realise this is completely off the topic of this video but do you have any recommendations for a complete beginner to learning Czech? By the way wine is not really my cup of tea but it is always interesting to hear an enthusiastic expert talk about their field of expertise. Another great video 👍, cheers.
Hey! I've been learning Czech for about a year, entirely online, and I can recommend what I've done. I started with Duolingo, because it's free and a pretty good introduction to any language, though not perfect. The Czech course is pretty well put together and the mods are really good at answering questions quickly. I mostly use this to get a basic sense of grammar, and some vocabulary. I use italki as well, though I didn't start until a few months after starting (when quarantine got to me tbh, I needed people). It's pretty affordable, and I've progressed so much more combining it with duolingo than otherwise, especially in terms of speaking. Make sure you find a teacher who is fluent in your native language if possible, it's helpful. Italki is my all-around practice. The other one I use is Lingbe. I actually got this recommendation from one of Jen's videos! It's not structured, just make a call when you want and go! I will say this is intimidating on a good day, but I've progressed so much by just talking to people. Also free! Oh, and RUclips. Lots and lots of RUclips. I personally like Kovy and Pokáč a lot, and of course Jen. But the practice I get from listening is very good. I keep a notebook with me and write things down if I don't understand them. Hope this helps! I'm happy to answer any questions if you have them!
@@sada1504: Hi, thank you so much for your response I will certainly give your suggestions a try. Do you by any chance use any reference materials at all (online or books) I have heard they can be useful, especially with grammar.
I recommend some basic textbook, like Czech Step by Step, along with Duolingo, which is free. Sometimes the textbook help fill in the gaps that is a bit confusing in Duolingo. Also a good teacher can help you at any level. Also my teacher eliska has her own channel and website and is very helpful! ruclips.net/channel/UCN_8eCxfVH68XoRimh7BY9A Thank you for watching the videos! Happy New Year!
A basic textbook is very good. I didn't use one, and that's one of the things I will definitely do differently for future languages. One other thing I remembered is a Czech-English dictionary, you can find any number of them in app form, and they're very helpful for looking up stray words
Hey, Jen! The idea to host this video conference is awesome! 👌👍 Unfortunately, although I like wine, I prefer beer. 😂😉😄🍺🍻 That's why I'm not an expert on wines, but thanks to this video I learned something interesting about them... My favorite brand of wine is PERLA (red, rosé and white), semi-sweet wines, produced by České Vinařské Závody. PERLA wines are a mixture of wines from the European Community, they are probably not a noble kind (Arielle does not praise me), but I like these wines... 🍸 I wish everyone good luck in the new year 2021! 🍀✨
To prostě bez lásky nelze pěstovat.
I've read that Morovia makes some excellent wines. I would like to try some, but I've never seen a single bottle of Czech wine here in the Netherlands, . . . . and we're not so far away!
in practical terms, reds are hit and miss and mostly miss, but whites are mostly good and sometimes great for the price. I do not think they export much though
@@slouberiee I finally got to visit beautiful Prague for the first time last year in September, 2021. I LOVED it! I would go back tomorrow if I could afford to travel again. Very nice video Jen👍 and to this day it is really suitable. But I don't drink wine a lot, my favorite drink is Gin + Tonic, Beefeater London dry is my friend, especially when I need to release steam from work. 😆
Hi Mari, thanks for the recommendation, we will look for that recommendation. My drink of choice in thees pandemic days is Whiskey ☺ and of course Pilsner, but these wines were a nice change! PF 2021!
Hi. I come from Znojmo. Wonderful city, excellent wines and people. I currently live in the Netherlands and prefer French and Spanish wines, but when I go to Moravia, I really like to drink local wines. I like wines from the Lahofer winery
@@DreamPrague I agree - Lahofer winery makes pretty good wines. Moravian wines are quite good, but you should taste wines from Mělník, Most and Velké Žernoseky - where the vineyards are older and not so famous, but the wines are more luxurious and much more expensive.

You know that Moravian saying: "Dá sa, nedá sa, dá sa Pražákovi." meaning the grading of vines: good vines, bed vines and vines good for prague habitants. It's a small Moravian joke about Czechs drinking Moravian vine.

I love your videos!! They're so much fun for me to watch. I taught English in Ostrava and Brno 1990-1992 and am currently trying to learn the language, adding to the 34 words I probably learned in those two years. Will you be. making more when you speak in Czech with English subtitles? Those videos really spur me on!! Blessings to you in 2021! (PS Trump did pardon all those turkeys!)
Brno has changed a lot, so has Prague but Ostrava has changed the most dramatically, I think. I’ve been back 5-6 times and plan on a long stay post Covid. Carry on. Your personality shines through and wins subscribers!!
Well, there are also some wineyards in the cetral Bohemia - Mělník, north of Prague, Grébovka etc. with some very nice products. Not expected in the very centre of the bier-part. But yes, drinking wine in Moravian sklípek has some bonus value.
Yes, we are not just a beer nation :) For example, in video mentioned, Volařik become a winer of the year in like 5 years from 7, last year it was I hink Vican, both from Mikulov. Volarik did never disapoint me, all the wines are great and also you get torroir ones.... The best i had in my live was Irsai 2018 from Tetur winery, but it is impossible to buy now ... And there are many others in south moravia region, sadly it is far from Prague to visit to experience for travelers. Maybe thats why it remains forgotten treasure of CZE and keeps the preice low for locals who can enjoy it...
Czechia is small country but offers a lot of variety in everything. If you think about alcoholic beverage then we are inside all zones. Wine culture in Moravia that goes to south and Mediterranean. Beer culture that is in Bohemia and goes north-west (Germany, Ireland). Liquor culture that is very strong in east moravia and goes further east.
Moravian wine is famous in USA too actually. I can recomend you to taste Líbal from Horní Dunajovice (small unknown village but greats vine makers) Líbal won two gold medals in San Francisco International Wine Competition and he won with every single bottle he sent there from that time. Have to experience wine cellars tours (otevřené sklepy). Best festivals in the Czech republic, you will not remeber. However always choose a small one not made for turists- but the locals. Ps: Zbožňuji tvoje videa.
Oh cool, thanks for the tip! I look forward to returning to Znojmo next year!

@Dream Prague You've pronounced Znojmo absolutely correctly, but your wine guide hasn't :) My hometown is worth to visit not only because of wine cellars but also amazing historical centre of the the town with the gateway to the The national park Podyji/Thayataal!
The selection of the wines was nice, and even the talk about Moravia and it's wineries. There are not only many producers but Moravia is special with the huge number of approved wine types (I won't bother you with the explanation). And, besides the officially producing and selling vintners, there are many who do produce only for themselves and their friends. And all the wines are available. When you once dive into the Czech wine culture, you'll never come up again. PS: In Bohemia, there are some good wines grown too, on the riversides of Elbe, where the Vltava l enters.
Moc zajímavé video. Víno piji a rád. Ahoj.
nejen most, ve stredoveku se v cechach vino pestovalo u kazdeho vetsiho mesta. nejtypictejsi ceska vina jsou samozrejme melnicina a zernosecke - nejtradicnejsi (rozumej nejstarsi zname) odrudy prync (tramin bily) a rouci (pinot noir, zavedeny do cech v pol. 14. stoleti).
Gurdau, probably, is just German transcription of Kurdějov. It is true that area around Pavlov is quite extraordinary and looks like from some other part of the Europe, with waters of VDNM it reminds me of Greece for some reason.
Takže by to odpovídalo 3. století. Takže se to nedá ani dokázat ani vyvrátit. Nicméně doporučuji ochutnat i mělnická vína. :-)
the somelier made a wine tasting and didnt give you the original moravian vine that was cultivated there? Its called Pálava (called after mountains where it was cultivated), its a kind of Traminer Rot, you should definetly taste that one
Takže, vše s Mírou 😇 zdravím a rád s vámi poznávám Česko i svět 👍👍👍
"Vlašský ryzlink" literally means Italian Riesling. "Vlašský" is an adjective from the word "Vlach", which in the old Czech language is a designation for a person from northern Italy, or also Roman or Romanesque. In the Polish language, this designation has remained to this day. (Włoch - Włochy)
As someone who worked in wine business couple of years I dare to say I have some knowledge in this field and am luckily able to safely identify "bang for the buck" when hunting for a good wine deal in the supermarket shelves. :) So let me state that we definitely have some really good wines here and it is shame that our wine is very much overshadowed by our beer. I always think of supporting our local wine producers, when buying wine for myself or my guests, however, and this a huge "however", I think our white wines are generally better than the read ones. Having said that, I always buy local white wine, it is genuinely world class, but almost always I go for red wine from South Africa, South America, Italy or Spain. We do not have optimal climate for top notch red wines. Not saying our red wine is not good, it is just a bit below the "best of the best" category. ;)
The emperor and Czech king Charles IV. (from the theater play and musical movie A Night at Karlstein): Dear guests, taste the wine. It is from the first vine that has been grown here in Czechia. Maybe it seems a little bitter, but for the first taste only. And so it is with everything in this country.
Hi Jen, awesome video, interesting information as usual... just want to have this 6pack of wine here to taste. Gotta find out how is the shipping process due covid now. Have a great New Year!
I realize it's kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good site to watch new tv shows online?
@Alonzo Jericho i watch on Flixzone. Just google for it =)
My jezdíme pro víno do Čejkovic ... možná nejstarší vinařská oblast u nás (známé i Templářské sklepy).

PF 2021 !!
I recommend "Winery Baloun", I especially like Palava. They supplied wine for the castle of Prague, for the former president and his guests.
I like Palava as well, it has nice fruity and fresh taste. Palava is actually quite rare, because this type of plant doesn't grow on many vineyards. Other types of wine is often misleadingly labelled as Palava, because of it's popularity.
Oh yes!
Síma, thanks so much for the recommendation! I would love to have a glass with you sometime!
@@DreamPrague I have to agree. Pálava is for me the best Moravian wine. :-)
@@DreamPrague but you told that you do not love sweet wines. Palava is sweeter white wine.
@@jirirokyta9666 Not necessarily, I've already drunk a dry Pálava, it depends on how much the winemaker lets it ferment.
I’m glad you enjoyed it Lubo! I would love to do an in-person follow up!
That was lovely. Hope to taste some of these wines someday.
Thanks Václav!
Fantastické video, neskutečně mě to bavilo . Skvělá práce
Great wine tasting! I might be another Czech guy in stunning surprise! Defenitively I give a try mentioned wines! Arielle is excelent indeed!

thank you for the great tips Jen, the video was really cool. I like the passion and enthusiasm of the sommelier, I am definitely saving her contact details for some after-covid wine tasting tour.
Me too, I can’t wait to visit those wineries in person!
Cheers! This episode made me so wine-thirsty and looking forward to some wine-tasting in the vineyards...
V Čechách se přece víno pěstuje taky, v okolí Mělníku a Litoměřic. A vinice máte koncekonců i v Praze.
To je fakt.A musím říct, že vína z Čech mi překvapivě chutnají více než moravská.

ok folks, this video is fantastic.
It can be a matter of discussion if the choice of wines is really representative for the Czech Republic, moreover the 4% of wine produced in Bohemia is not even mentioned, but the clip is an outstanding artistic feat tranducing the pleasant, friendly and relaxed atmosphere to the listeners.
opět skvěle pojaté video. Fandím Vám!

Pálava a Silván sú moje najobľubenejšie biele odrody
Hi Jen, I have been watching your videos just for few days but I really fell in love with them. We celebrate traditional feast "hody" in Moravia where we drink mostly vine. In my opinion that is the reason for such consumption of vine. :)
There is a lot of singing and dancing and drinking. Also we have dance "cifrování" (it is quite "Moravian freestyle") that is quite physically demanding and you need a lot of vine to survive all of this. And family usually comes together to be there so more drinking etc. :)
One of the most biggest is in Kyjov. I really recommend seeing this live.
As for architecture you mentioned in some videos before I really love Telč especially square and castle.
I am looking forward your next videos and have a nice year 2021. May the C19 is gracious to us. :)
Hi Jan, that hody sounds like a blast! I can’t wait to go down there! I’ll start training now ;)

Your best video so far...yes I'm from Moravia 😂 your video make me homesick. Last 24 years I'm living abroad US, México and now UK .Keep up the good work ...ohh I have almost forgot 😀 sommelier Arielle knows her business she is brilliant
Vinařství Krist a vinařství Vavříček, to jsou moje oblíbené. :) Jinak moc pěkné a zajímavé video.
Amazing video Jen and team. I never liked our wines that much must try new ones.
So I had a great couple of nights in Valtice. I am not a wine person but after a sampling in a cellar, I vaguely remember the border patrol got involved around midnight because we accidently invaded Austria on the way back to the hotel.
I always loved ‘Templarske sklepy’ and my favorite were Tramin cerveny for white and Modry Portugal for reds. I enjoyed this video very much :)
Thanks for sharing! I'll add these to my list!
:-) entertaining and educative I really like that..

and the saddest, that pannonian (moravian included) wines are called "czech" or "bohemian" even.
Čili to přenesení z Rakouska opravdu sedí.
Poláci, slovo Włochy, používají pro Italii doteď. :-)

Oh wow, so I need access to the personal stash, then!

The one I've tasted they opened by MISTAKE! :D
@@DreamPrague Although that was a loooong time ago. I bet they're more "open" nowadays.
Though back then, nobody was selling their best wines.
My grandparents had a vine cellar in the line of cellars next to Vrbovec (near Znojmo) and a small vineyard next to the house.

Unfortunately, although I like wine, I prefer beer. 😂😉😄🍺🍻
That's why I'm not an expert on wines, but thanks to this video I learned something interesting about them... My favorite brand of wine is PERLA (red, rosé and white), semi-sweet wines, produced by České Vinařské Závody. PERLA wines are a mixture of wines from the European Community, they are probably not a noble kind (Arielle does not praise me), but I like these wines... 🍸

The amount produced in Czechia is not even able to cover local consumpion :-D so not much left for export. You must come here to taste it :)
in practical terms, reds are hit and miss and mostly miss, but whites are mostly good and sometimes great for the price. I do not think they export much though
@@slouberiee I finally got to visit beautiful Prague for the first time last year in September, 2021. I LOVED it! I would go back tomorrow if I could afford to travel again. Naturally, pivo (beer) predominates, but I got to try some fine Czech wines, too.
Here's a video I made with photos I took with my phone camera, and music I wrote. ruclips.net/video/_K-aRZV1ySE/видео.html
@@jindrichzapletal5822 I tasted a few good reds and a nice Sylvaner at the Vinny Bar at the Hotel Olšanka. Later at a restaurant, I bought a bottle of red "Portugal" which was recommended as a good Czech wine.

Hi Jen, I particularly enjoyed this video as I am a big moravian wine lover myself. I can recommend Vinařství Hamerník from Dolní Dunajovice, Vinařství Baloun or Vinařství Piálek &Jäger (especially their Ryzlink rýnský). But there are many, many more:) Happy New Year!
Thank you for these tips. I am pretty ignorant on wine, but I learned a lot making this video! I will check out your recommendations!
Very nice video Jen👍 and to this day it is really suitable.
I personally like Pinot Gris from the Baloun winery and when it comes to red wine, I like Cabernet Sauvignon from Moldava which I always leave a little age at home, usually waits a year, so it is not Czech. But I don't drink wine a lot, my favorite drink is Gin + Tonic,
Beefeater London dry is my friend, especially when I need to release steam from work. 😆
Hi Mari, thanks for the recommendation, we will look for that recommendation. My drink of choice in thees pandemic days is Whiskey ☺ and of course Pilsner, but these wines were a nice change! PF 2021!
@@DreamPrague PF 2021🥳🎉🍾🥂
Hi. I come from Znojmo. Wonderful city, excellent wines and people. I currently live in the Netherlands and prefer French and Spanish wines, but when I go to Moravia, I really like to drink local wines. I like wines from the Lahofer winery
Thank you for the tip, I will seek out that winery! PF 2021!
@@DreamPrague I agree - Lahofer winery makes pretty good wines. Personally I like Mikrosvín-Mikulov winery even more - they do really excellent wines and if you are looking for the summer vacation "wine wandering" tip - they have wine-cellars in Dunajovice in the milddle of wineyards - you can rent an apartment next to it with wonderfull view of Pálava hills... ;)
I was hoping a little you could try a very popular one Château De Krabicé 👌👌👌

Moravian wines are quite good, but you should taste wines from Mělník, Most and Velké Žernoseky - where the vineyards are older and not so famous, but the wines are more luxurious and much more expensive.

I reccomend visiting the town of Mikulov but mainly the nearby villages for the best wine you have ever had.
Do more vids like this - it was cool! I really enjoyed it - im from Czech R. too (but live in Vienna - and i like austrians wines - they are great), but i didnt know that we have so good wines. I must definitely book tour wine after Covid times :)
Wow, my mom lives in Nosislav and I take "burčák" from Mr. Válka every year. Apparantly I've to buy even something more :-)
How cool!
Perfektní video! Díky. Poučné i pro nás tuzemce :-)
Happy New Year from Yukon. I love your show. :)
from you Yukon? How cool! Haha, I knew someone would call me out, but we'd been saying "Czech" wine the whole evening, and then when I recorded the intro, I realized it. Yes, those MORAVIAN wines were delightful :)

You know that Moravian saying: "Dá sa, nedá sa, dá sa Pražákovi." meaning the grading of vines: good vines, bed vines and vines good for prague habitants. It's a small Moravian joke about Czechs drinking Moravian vine.
@@MrToradragon @Zelezny_Jestrab
Is the joke about Czechs (also Moravians) or just Bohemians?
@@argetlam9902 It's a way for the Moravians to make fun of Praguers. However, many people in Prague actually come from Moravia (most of the people are not in Prague for more than 1 generation)
@@argetlam9902 As same as Prague citizens make jokes about Brno, Hradec Kralove about Pardubice (and vice versa), Moravians like to make jokes about Bohemians or Pragues... We (I mean all the Czechs) love this kind of jokes🙂
great video, greetings from Moravia
I love your videos!! They're so much fun for me to watch. I taught English in Ostrava and Brno 1990-1992 and am currently trying to learn the language, adding to the 34 words I probably learned in those two years. Will you be. making more when you speak in Czech with English subtitles? Those videos really spur me on!! Blessings to you in 2021! (PS Trump did pardon all those turkeys!)
Ahaha! He did! Yes I’ll be doing more in czech...a bit Rusty over the holidays but soon! Come back and visit, I bet Brno has changed a lot since 92!
You should go and visit Mikulov in Moravia. You’d love it!
Maybe. I was there last summer and I felt like being back in communism. They are realy lost in time.
Amazing idea and video! :)
Nice content. I am from Znojmo so i have wine as a part of my blood. :)
and in Znojmo is also wine gallery Enotéka, which won czech architecture prize Grandprix architektů.
Znojmo je nádherné, okolí také. Zdravíme z Varů.
I cannot wait to return to Znojmo, now that I've learned some new things about it! Happy New Year!
Moje najobľúbenejšie vína sú biele a červené😉
moje grappa ;)
When I was teen, we used to drink a vine called "Portas" or poblijak, and it really was.
The most famous wineyard is of course Šobes near Znojmo. However, it is owned by big company Znovin, not by a small winery.
Vínečko bílé , budu ťa pít co budu žít , vínečko bílé ....the sweet South Moravan region , my home
Ryzlink rýnský = wine of kings and king of wines.
My most favorite wine from that region is definetely Blatnický Roháč from Blatnice
Moc zajímavé video. Víno piji a rád. Ahoj.
nejen most, ve stredoveku se v cechach vino pestovalo u kazdeho vetsiho mesta. nejtypictejsi ceska vina jsou samozrejme melnicina a zernosecke - nejtradicnejsi (rozumej nejstarsi zname) odrudy prync (tramin bily) a rouci (pinot noir, zavedeny do cech v pol. 14. stoleti).
Gurdau, probably, is just German transcription of Kurdějov.
It is true that area around Pavlov is quite extraordinary and looks like from some other part of the Europe, with waters of VDNM it reminds me of Greece for some reason.
So let me state that we definitely have some really good wines here and it is shame that our wine is very much overshadowed by our beer.
Hi Jan, PF 2021! they were really good wines, I hope you get to try them all!
I heard this old joke about Moravian wines: There are 3 kinds: dá sa (good), nedá sa (not good), dá sa Pražákovi (good for a Prague person) :D :D
