He led the league one year in defensive win shares-- they should make video highlighting his defense. He had 30-12-10-9 steals-2 blocks one game (31 minutes). He had 49-15-12-4 blocks with a broken back (vertebra) at 35 y.o.. He is the GOAT. Keep watchin'
Larry led the NBA in defensive win shares 4 times, same as Hakeem. He wasn't supposed to lock down the opposing point guard but he was the greatest team defensive player ever.
Every game. I was watching every Celtics game in the early 80s and he did something incredible at least once in every game. He was also out there every night playing as hard as he could to win every game.
The greatest of all time. It took MJ from 1984 to 1991 before he won a title. And Bird, a rookie in 1980, won back-back-back MVPs from 1984 to 1986, and his 3rd title in 86.
Now you have to see if you can find when Johnson and Bird played together on the1978 Team USA the year before they met in the NCAA finals. That was a true demonstration of skill from two of the best passers of that time. The video title: Legendary Magic: Larry Bird and Earvin Johnson playing together Run Time: 12:30 Channel: Basketball Jones For those that think Larry Bird was not as good as he really was. The execution of perfection. Another great video gentlemen. Keep up the great work.
@@kimmycook2698 This was not the Dream Team that did no happen until 1992, this is in reference to Team USA that took part in the 1978 World Invitational Tournament. But yes the dream team was great.
Where in the world did this come from?? We thought we had seen it all with the birdman. But this??? These are some of the greatest moves I've ever seen. And one of the players on another video said "He's slow?", "He can't jump?". This video should go viral!!
I think people who say that either only saw him towards the end of his career because he was slower during that time. Or they misunderstood some of the other league players when they were talking about how slow he was. He was only slow in the sense that he could not run back and forth as quickly as some others could. But Larry was quick ...many many other ways!!!
Situational Awareness on god mode...he seemed to always know where everyone was going to be. He called his shots and followed through..he trashed talked and backed it up.
What you boys are seeing is greatness at it's finest like you've never seen from no one else and never Will.. that's what your seeing.. GOAT BASKETBALL PLAYER
Great reaction, guys. Too funny. If Larry Bird had had a healthy or even somewhat healthy 16-18 year career he would be in everybody's GOAT conversation.
Have you guys seen the Bird is the Word highlight video? 🙏 Is relatively new from Larry Legend Full Games channel. I think you'll like. Includes things I'd not seen before. (Don't get stuck on the first song - the music progresses 🙂)
Larry had 27 points LEFT HANDED against Portland. If you knew anything about Bird back in the day, you weren't surprised. He made left handed shots all the time. Difference was, that game, he announced it as his primary to the public.
Ok...I finally figured it out. Larry Bird may or may not be the "greatest basketball player of all time". But Larry Bird was, and still is... THE GREATEST ALL AROUND BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME!!
At 4:30: What you saw is practice makes perfect. Y'all seeing that no one hardly looks at - his ability to adjust his shot! I call it Situational Awareness - y'all probably call it BB IQ. The one you thought that he shot behind the player? That one is another example of that. Homie #41 was going to block Birds shot - Bird saw it - banking it was the way it was going in!!!
Should witnessed him live ,that's why peeps that grew up on 80 's bball, call this bball now soft ,they were so close you had to really thread the needle, but larry had triple doubles all the time ,he came 1 steal away from a quad double, one game ,we miss and love ya bird 🐦 ❤this man would play hurt all the time ,Larry could play better on the floor then most standing up ❤,there's atleast 25 top plays on yt of larry on the floor #larrybird ❤🐦
The only reason Larry didn't get that quad was because it didn't matter to him! Coach asked if he wanted to go back in to go for it.... he said no I've done enough damage in this game! He wasn't interested in stats ...his main goal was always winning!
Youre watching the REAL best to ever play. Larry Bird is Mr Highlight reel. He aint pretty but when you WATCH him he make ppl look stupid. And all with beautiful subtlety. Not showy. He didnt care about flashy. He cared about winning. He made everyone around him better. Every single teammate .
I have been a huge fan of Bird since I was 7. I’m 48 now. And he’s was alway top 2 of all time. You could pick Jordan or Bird and I wouldn’t argue. It the fact is, Bird is #1.
I hear young folks today say all the time "why arent they guarding him" but the truth was Larry was 6' 9" with long arms & a bag full of tricks that made him virtually unguardable 90% of the time especially by the shorter players so there were some who even though they should have tried just gave up trying - !
Back in the day--a lotta black players hated Bird really bad. Here was the problem--along comes a player unlike anyone we had ever seen before who could do it all and even stuff we didn't know existed, as a rookie, and he is white?. That turned basketball and everything we thought we knew about basketball on its head because back then, almost all white guys were doing well to be called 'good defenders, reliable, hustle, unselfish, good at given up the ball to the scorer', who was almost ALWAYS black back then. Only Walton, Maravich, or Barry at the time were white guys who could shoot the ball regularly and be regarded as talented star scorers who were white--maybe a few others. Times have changed in this regard. Makes me feel good to see you guys appreciate Bird. You are fun to watch react!
People always saying Larry wasn't athletic, which is bullshit. True, he was no MJ or Dominque, but in his prime before his injuries he had plenty of athleticism.
Bird is way too similar to john wick. Bunch of guys coming at him. He does fancy moves to defend himself and his shots are crazy accurate and deadly and he always gets his shots off. Unstoppable.
You guys are good, but if you haven't seen 100s of hours of his highlights, you haven't seen em all. He has put up some anomalous numbers that you should sit down before you read: 30-12-10-9 stls-2 blk game in 31 minutes against Stockton and Jazz in '85--led 34-10 after first quarter and never came out for 4th quarter. Had 49-14-12-4 blks-1 stl game against the loaded Drexler Portland team in '92 with achilles tendonitis and broken vertebra at 35 yrs. old--I think he hit the game-winning 3.. I think it propelled them into the playoffs despite all the team injuries and age. He averaged like 32-13-5 for a career in college, taking the Sycamores to 33-0. First 50-40-90 guy in league history, then did it the next year. Took a terrible Celtic team to +32 wins rookie year for team, a championship in year 2. Only 24-10-6 guy for an entire career in league history. That's just the tip of the iceburg. He led the league in defensive win-shares four times!!
He would ALWAYS leave you speechless and shaking your head.
I seen this all the time back in the day. Every single night Bird would do something that was absolutely not humanly possible

Love your Bird reactions! Thanks.

Larry played fundamentally sound basketball with the old-school street basketball swag.
Bird did not need to take a shot to effect the outcome of a game.
I love you guys!!! You make me laugh every time I watch you guys!!! I bet your parents are proud of you boys!!!
We just saw GREATNESS!😂😂🎂

That was a hook shot with his weak hand!!! That's what was impressive!!
Larry's main offensive move in the low post was a lefty hook as he crossed the lane. Inside of 15' he was totally ambidextrous.
Yea I’ve seen him bank with the left from 15ft on the run. 😜😱

What you just saw … was Larry being a legend. The master of the off balance shot. The best passer in the game. The savant of basketball.
Everyone always thinks of Larry as just a shooter but his layup package was fantastic.

Bird didn’t just have eyes in the back of his head. He had eyes in every pore of his body.
