    Aubrey arguably played one of the best strategic games we've seen. And on certain seasons, a cutthroat strategic game can win; like Parvati in FvF. However, Kaoh Rong was not one of those seasons and ultimately that was Aubreys biggest flaw. She did not juggle her powerhouse strategic game with her decent social game. Whereas Michelle did a better job evening out her decent strategic game with her powerhouse social game. In the end I think both Michelle and Aubrey were deserving. Haters come at me.

    • @isaacturpin1173

      I think they showed her more than people realize. She was fairly prominent, especially post merge. Not sure what you mean about Survivor "focusing on avoiding a bitter jury"

    • @isaacturpin1173
      @isaacturpin1173 6 лет назад +3

      In the end the point I was trying to make was both played a good game, both were deserving, however you do have to take into account the people you put on the jury and how you do it, especially on a season like Kaoh Rong and Michelle did a better job in that aspect.

      The Julia crossout and then writing Peter is one of the worst moves in the history of the game. Julia and Scot never liked or trusted her after that (and lost their jury vote at that moment) and by extension now Jason. It showed Aubry as completely wishy washy, indecisive, cagey, fake, and untrustworthy. It put the brains in the minority starting the merge and Aubry would have been the merge boot if Neal wasn't evacuated.

    People argue about who was the most deserving winner in this season, which is fine. However, I think that it kind of overshadows the powerhouse that was that Michelle, Aubrey, and Cydney alliance. I haven't seen that level of social awareness since Micronesia! Cydney was on the losing tribe consistently and was never on the chopping block there and switched up the game and made sure she had the numbers on the girls alliance on top of that. Aubrey worked her way around multiple times she was the target of the majority alliance and used her social skills to bring the game to convince Thai to flip on his alliance. Michelle was willing to drop every loyalty she had and keep all of her options open to move her game forward as she figured out she had to work with Thai towards the end to work against Aubrey after he actively worked against her; she dropped who she perceived as her strongest ally in Julia to establish herself in the alliance. One of my favorite final fours that I have seen in a season.

    Survivor Kaoh Rong was a great season but it often gets overlooked because of its bitter jury and its not so great ending. Aubry deserved to win S32 and nothing will ever convince me otherwise. I can’t believe we were denied the opportunity of seeing her in Winners At War, which I think would have had a different outcome with Aubry there. Let us not forget that Tony targeted Aubry early in S34 based on her great gameplay from S32. If Aubry can get a good player like Tony that paranoid and worried, it honestly means her S32 gameplay was one of the best ever!💯

    I think the biggest flaw in Aubry's game that I feel like isn't talked about enough is her failing to realize that Michele was closer to Cydney than she was.
    Aubry also failed to realize that Cydney was a major threat to win the game until F5, I wholeheartedly believe that Cydney had every intention of turning on Aubry at either F5 or F4 but she was also in a very good spot where everyone most likely wanted to take her to the end (and like she said kept her options open)
    I don't know, this speaks volumes about Aubry's social gameplay. Even so that Cydney truthfully outperformed her in that aspect too.

    • @yourlocalramen1660
      @yourlocalramen1660 Год назад +2

      I actually disagree. Michele was going to be cut by Aubry at Final 5, as she had planned. That Final 4 reward challenge that Aubry won was originally intended to be the Final 5 immunity challenge had Joe not been pulled from the game due to eating too much steak (Wow, Heatstroke, Infection and Steak; the 3 killers of Kaoh Rong lol). Regardless, had she won that challenge, Michele likely goes home in 5th place 4-1, as Joe and Tai almost 100% vote for her. From what we saw as well, the Final 4 immunity challenge was neck and neck between Michele and Tai until she bliltzed through it at the end and won narrowly, but in this other time, Tai ends up winning immunity. Recognizing the threat that Cydney is, Aubry 100% votes for Cydney, with Cydney's only real shot being Firemaking against Aubry, which we know how that turned out in our timeline. Juror removal, as garbage of a twist as it was, was always staying in the game, thus meaning that Aubry likely wins that between her, Tai and Joe, as she was shown to be the closest behind Michele in that challenge. Regardless, whether Aubry, Tai or Joe win that challenge, Scot likely gets voted off the jury. My guesses on how the jury votes then go like this (disregarding Scot because he's 100% toast with juror removal)
      Neal: Aubry
      Nick: Aubry
      Debbie: Joe
      Scot: (REMOVED)
      Julia: Either Joe or Aubry
      Jason: Joe
      Michele: Aubry
      Cydney: Aubry
      Aubry wins either 4-3 or 5-2. Joe's medical evacuation totally wrecked her chances.

    I love Aubry's journey, but from a storytelling perspective I do like that she lost the jury vote because as a result we got a more complex look at her journey and the bumps in the road. Same with Tai actually. It make Kaoh Rong a far better season than it would have been if she and Tai were just the heroes with no other complexities to it

    • @jonathanlee2099
      @jonathanlee2099 4 месяца назад

      The only thing is that I wish her vote cross out was explored by the show more as her game ending mistake because ultimately three of the five jury votes that she didn't get can be boiled down to that moment which ultimately was her downfall. And yet, she almost maneuvered her way to a winning combination anyway until Joe ate too much meat at the reward. It's a tragic downfall and why Aubry's story on paper is one of my favorite ones ever in Survivor

    Aubry taking joe and Cydney on the reward was her downfall and it wasn’t even a smart move. This has nothing to do with joe eating too much but if she leaves joe with tai or Michelle then nothing happens and the tai Michelle thing never gets started. Aubry should have won this game hands down

    • @eagerturtle4791
      @eagerturtle4791  6 лет назад +6

      I don't really think the Tai and Michele thing was actually going to come to anything, because Tai seemed pretty loyal to Aubry (at least in Kaoh Rong he was until he saw how much Aubry was manipulating him throughout the game). It seemed like Aubry had a solid final three with Joe and Tai and should have been able to go to the end with them if Joe didn't have to leave.
      On the other hand though, Michele did win the last two challenges (which likely would have been the final five immunity challenge and the final four immunity challenge), so Michele probably gets to the end anyway. At final four with Joe, Tai, and Aubry as potential targets in that scenario, I think it's very likely that Aubry gets voted out in 4th. I guess we'll never know though...

It doesn’t make you the most physical, strategic or socially adept person out there, it just means a set of circumstances happened in a way that gave you a victory.” That’s exactly what Kaôh Rong was: a set of circumstances that made Michele win over Aubry. 8:42 aubry in every season she has played she constantly makes the bad decision and she has no backbone when she wants someone out she doesn't get them out instead she lets other people decide what is going to happen many times she let tai make a choice for her and she wanted to keep liz but get rid of peter but debbie wanted liz so aubry did what debbie wanted and then she wanted to keep peter but instead of using peter's friendship with julia she let julia get in with tai and jason and then had to flip and vote peter out. she just kept messing up and michele kept doing the right thing.

      This comment is so incorrect lol Aubry was probably the most adaptable player in Kaoh Rong. The people that ruled with an iron fist, like how you said Aubry should play, all got taken out for that. Debbie never folded for anyone and thats the reason she went home, Nick, Jason, and Scot were very abrasive in their game demanding people side with them which is why they went home, Julia made it very obvious she rode the middle because she wanted to be in charge of the game and so she went home. Aubry and Cydney were the only people able to ride the waves of the game and stay in charge the entire time by convincing other people they were in charge when really, Aubry and Cydney were in charge the entire time. In Survivor you have to adapt to the people around you and this cast had multiple big personalities that were not going to step down to anyone: Nick, Jason, Scot, Debbie, Peter, Liz, Julia. Aubry and Cydney were able to convince people to do what they wanted without coming off too domineering, they made the big personalities believe they were in control when they werent. If Aubry and Cydney ever stepped out in front and revealed they were in control, if they ever tried to force people to do anything like you say they shouldve, they would have been voted out. Cydney was one vote away from going home the night Debbie went, Aubry was one vote away from being idoled out the night Scot went, they both survived this because they knew how to get on peoples good side and win them over without commanding them to submit to their will. Thats how Survivor works. If you think Survivor is about giving orders and taking orders then you havent been watching the show for that long. If anyone thinks youre in control, they take you out, Aubry and Cydney werent taken out until final 4.

      @@MrCarl760 I'm not reading your entire essay just from the start i can tell youre an emotional stan. I'll only address the first few lines I bothered to sit through. I never said aubry wasnt adaptable I said she was a pushover. adapting to things is one thing. allowing things that are bad for your game to happen whle knowing they are bad for your game is another. you can get your way without being a dictator. making the wrong moves and the wrong time doesn't make her adaptable. constantly scrambling because you make a bad move the cycle before isn't good game stan.

      Okay let’s break this down 💀
      “Aubry has no backbone”
      This is absolutely incorrect, as Aubry spearheaded all votes post-merge. On top of this, your claims regarding Liz is ridiculous because Aubry had no choice due to being the target l, thus meaning that she had to go along with the majority. Also this argument is so hypocritical when Michele literally had to do the same thing multiple times throughout the post-merge (Nick’s vote of, Scot’s Blindside and most glaringly Julia) All of those votes were as a result of AUBRY executing them. Aubry, let me remind you, had a 100% voting record throughout the ENTIRETY of Kaoh Rong, so this is just an incorrect statement in its entirety.
      “Michele did everything right.”
      Michele did one thing right, and this is why she deserved to win; she played off of a bitter jury. You cannot argue with that, it’s clear, it’s present and it’s a reality of the game. I’m not disputing Michele’s win here, I’m just saying that that’s the one major thing she did right to win. Other than that, I’m not even going to address the strategic game on her part, as she had the 2nd worst voting record of any winner (Bob is #1) only voting the correct person out 2/3 times. Her “social game” consisted of her being nice to the jury and them simply liking her more, not a bad idea. However, again this was just enough to win, so I applaud her for that.
      I love Michele but you “emotional stans” are ridiculous now because you think that her WAW game proved that she deserved to win KR. It didn’t prove anything about her original game, it proved her as a player, there’s a significant difference. I love Michele as a character and I think she proved herself as a shrewd player on WAW, but I’d be remiss if I reminded you that she beats maybe Ben in a FTC and that’s it. In terms of a career percentage, she has the worst voting record of anyone on WAW at 63%. To put that in perspective, the next lowest is Amber with about 77%.
      Overall, Michele deserved her win, I personally would’ve voted for Aubry based on WHAT WE SAW ON TV. I was not there, I’m not disregarding the jury’s decision and I respect the integrity of the game. Michele did what she needed to do to win, I applaud her for that and therefore she deserved to win.
