    I can almost smell the steam, the smoke and the oil. And the steam drifting across the fells - magic!! And your kids are loving it!!

      I grew up in Sunderland, I now live in Kent, but my heart is in the Lakes. It is one of the reasons I subscribe to your channel, and your life philosophy and the way you bring up your kids is bang on! My kids, now on the 30s cusp, are Lake District addicts!!!

    Indoors is for whimps lol. Did not realize how big that journey was to be honest but it looked great, shame it is so far away for us. The engine beings back happy memories of when I was a kid and used to ride on one at Sunderland, where we used to spend our 2 weeks summer holidays with my grandmother. Is Munchester Castle quite near there? If so, did you go? Cheers Alan

      Haha, in the words of Mountain Mike it is......
      Yeah, Muncaster Castle is quite near - walking distance but maybe not with little ones.
      It’s a great train journey - definitely recommended.

      I'm lucky that I live quite close to the little ratty I ride it quite often
