      Fab - tell us how you get on and if you buy the larger breakfast, I would love to see a pic of it please. I used to live in Woodthorpe myself in the 80s but there was nothing as good as that in those days.

      You would enjoy that brekkie, Tony. Every component was quality and was cooked impeccably. And a fair price for too.

    This is a really good video Nikki. Very well presented. Good close ups of the food. One minor point, on the long shots, who ever is on the camera can lower it slightly to include the plate in the shot, there is plenty of room to do that above your head. But I have to say this is a brilliant review. The cafe itself looks lovely, and the breakfast looks fabulous. In my book you can't beet the good old English breakfast. This place is within 45 minutes of me, so I may just do this one cold December morning. Thanks again, Nikki. I am so glad I found Nikki's Nosh, I find them a great watch, and you have also led me to buy an airfryer, which I am so enjoying using. ❤

      Thank you Denise. The DJI Pocket 3 is a bit like an unruly cat - you point it in the right direction and then it decides to look elsewhere instead of me or the food. I will not let it get the better of me !

    I never had black pudding; I will try it though!

    • @NikkisNosh
      @NikkisNosh  25 дней назад +1

      The very best black pudding is Arthur Haig's Doreen Recipe but they are a small company with fairly limited production runs so it is not so easy to get than the well known Bury Black Pudding you can buy from most UK supermarkets. The difference though is substantial.

    • @NikkisNosh

      Black pudding is very much a Northern England delicacy but I guess us Yorkies, Geordies and Scousers would baulk at some of the entrails you guys eat in the USA - all I can remember was from watching The Beverley Hillbillies and Grannie's various culinary delights like hog jowls and chitlins. hehehehee

      We do have pigs' trotters here in the UK and they are cooked a bit like lamb shanks I think. As regards to gator on a stick, forgive me if I volunteer to pass on that delicacy. What does it taste like? And don't say chicken hahahaha.

    • @NikkisNosh
      @NikkisNosh  17 дней назад +1

      I am puzzled about what you say since at the time of filming there were no male employees in that café at all and I just quickly rewatched the video to see if I could see a dog walking man wearing an apron and I couldn't see one. Could you clarify please, Marsha ? Do you live in Woodthorpe? I know it was sold by Phil before Christmas to a young couple and I intend to revisit as a result in the next 3 months. Of course, it could be someone from another business in that little shopping strip including the pub but it would be a worry if a dog was being kept on the café premises since the kitchen is very small indeed and dogs and commercial kitchens do not mix. Thanks in advance for clarifying this.

    Haven't been round Woodthorpe in donkeys years. Nice it seems to have perked up a bit. That entire row of units was looking pretty dire last I was there. Supposedly the butchers is good too.
    Edit: Actually, theres a thing I don't normally see - videos on the quality of butchers.

    • @NikkisNosh
      @NikkisNosh  2 месяца назад

      I spent some time in Richardson's Butchers after leaving Phill Ya Boots Cafe and had a wonderful chat about traditional butchery and bought some wonderful sausages and burgers from Martin Richardson himself. He is ever so knowlegeable about meats and his joints of meat looked wonderful.
      So I will be doing a sort of "Butcher of the Week" strand in future episodes, so watch this space.

      Are you reading my mind, Dan? I have promised to do just that though I need to get all the right ingredients together to make a version of my breakfast right for 2024. The major thing missing is someone well known to do the taste testing. A YT celeb would be wonderful - even someone who doesn't like mushrooms lol.

    That looks a bit stingy. A full English with only one egg ! One sausage ? In most London that would be a standard breakfast ! Don't think I'll be breakfasting in York anytime soon. Come down to London and try Peliccis, now THERE is a full English !

    • @NikkisNosh
      @NikkisNosh  2 месяца назад +3

      To be fair, I did opt for the regular breakfast as opposed to the large which, I understand DID include 2 sausages and 2 eggs. The common York breakfast is as I received and what I have gotten elsewhere but it was really delicious but I can appreciate your point. The other day, I found a picture of the breakfast I served when I ran my B&B in York and it was pretty much the same as Phill Ya Boots - mind you I also served a started of fresh fruit salad. Of course, when you serve scrambled egg, it is always 2 eggs. The same breakfast in the city centre would easily be £15 believe it or not. York is darned expensive.
      When I am in London, I will indeed follow your advice and seek out Peliccis particularly if you are offering to pay for it - haha - only joking - thanks for commenting and joining the channel.

      Niki ordered a standard full rather than the large full, which I'm sure would have 2 eggs and 2 sausages. A full English means it has all the components. Anyway, it looked wonderful with very high quality ingredients, as good or better than anything in London.
