If I nit-picked everything I heard in this battle, than it wouldn't be a battle tbh. Both bands were not perfect in no regard but I felt MMB had better selections. NO was in the drivers seat the entire battle by going first and setting the tone but MMB counterpunches were top-tier. This was great battle and hat's off to both programs because they always bring the best out of each other. It's crazy that you can't give props to a director that has put in the hard work. I'm starting to think people are just hating on him now. SMH

Yes, I do prefer a certain writing style (we all do tbh) but at the end of the day it’s about execution. The directors you named all have one thing in common. They all have a special gift of getting the most out of the musicians they director. You can tell the energy shifts whenever their on the podium. I will always recognize that when I see it, regardless if I knew their name. One of my observations is that when it comes to certain cities and bands ie SOUTHERN and New Orleans. in my opinion, this was the best summer band season we have seen in a long time. you could pick any 3 of the heavyweights as the best band this season and you wouldnt seem that crazy. memphis shocking the world by becoming (debatably) the kings of summer band this year, GAMB recruiting the whole state, NOLA finally getting tubas, this has been extremely entertaining. MY RANKINGS: 1.MMB 2. GAMB 3. NOLA personally, i prefer GAMB's sound out of any of these bands, but i cannot deny that Memphis has proven that they are the better band. just a personal preference when it comes to GAMB Thank you KB for providing us great reaction content this summer band season 🙏
I don't get all this talk about bands only being hyped or prepared to battle one school. That would never fly in college. You couldn't use the excuse you were lacking because you were playing JSU or SU next. These people should know this. Both NOLA said GA said something similar when they battled Memphis. If you're really that band you just show up to annihilate whomever you go against. SU or JSU would never be caught dead saying that the week before the BoomBox. Now you might play a different lineup for a band that isn't much competition or isn't a SWAC band, but you don't slack. When I was in the BOOM the director would tell us to battle and prove you are who you say you are against the good bands but build your resume by crushing the others, or something similar to that. GA claimed they overlooked Memphis, but they weren't much better against NOLA. NOLa basically let them hang in the battle. NOLA had already battled GA. What reason would they have to hold anything back. Memphis had way fewer people that could travel than for the previous battle, and they still came to show out. With the number of good high school bands and college students that have some out of the city over the years, you would think people would know not to sleep on Memphis. If you know anything about Memphis, you know people from Memphis don't play. That "Whoop Dat Trick" mentality even extends to band. KB was being generous to NOLA in a couple rounds
The Real MMB for the W. NOASB is like a zero quarter band, hype you up with rap tunes but lacking in musicianship and real songs for the game & 5th quarter.🤷🏾♂️
First off great job to both bands for the show and for showing up. 2nd I would like to say to people in the comments close your month if you never played a horn before or March in any band. 3rd you people forget this is a battle of the Bands, BLOWING is what it’s all about. NOASB is doing right. BLOWING and keeping the crowd hyped is how you judge a battle of the band. Just cuz MEMPHIS had a book don’t mean they stuck to the objective. This not UIL battle of the bands. This is summer band where you BLOWING and SMASHING on everyone that get in your way. NOASB stuck to the objective BLOWING that’s why they won to me. Yes MEMPHIS had a better book but all them songs wasn’t BLOWING some of them songs was for UIL battle and marching band season not for summer band.
To say a battle of bands is all about BLOWING is crazy. Music isn't all about blowing and being loud. You don't have to play a horn to understand that lol. The mentality in our community needs to evolve from Blowing to Musicianship because that's making US look bad frfr. Musicianship isn't a MEAC concept as well so don't try to use that as an excuse smh.

I don't get all this talk about bands only being hyped or prepared to battle one school. That would never fly in college. You couldn't use the excuse you were lacking because you were playing JSU or SU next. These people should know this. Both NOLA said GA said something similar when they battled Memphis. If you're really that band you just show up to annihilate whomever you go against. SU or JSU would never be caught dead saying that the week before the BoomBox. Now you might play a different lineup for a band that isn't much competition or isn't a SWAC band, but you don't slack. When I was in the BOOM the director would tell us to battle and prove you are who you say you are against the good bands but build your resume by crushing the others, or something similar to that. GA claimed they overlooked Memphis, but they weren't much better against NOLA. NOLa basically let them hang in the battle. NOLA had already battled GA. What reason would they have to hold anything back. Memphis had way fewer people that could travel than for the previous battle, and they still came to show out. With the number of good high school bands and college students that have some out of the city over the years, you would think people would know not to sleep on Memphis. If you know anything about Memphis, you know people from Memphis don't play. That "Whoop Dat Trick" mentality even extends to band. KB was being generous to NOLA in a couple rounds

First off great job to both bands for the show and for showing up. 2nd I would like to say to people in the comments close your month if you never played a horn before or March in any band. 3rd you people forget this is a battle of the Bands, BLOWING is what it’s all about. NOASB is doing right. BLOWING and keeping the crowd hyped is how you judge a battle of the band. Just cuz MEMPHIS had a book don’t mean they stuck to the objective. This not UIL battle of the bands. This is summer band where you BLOWING and SMASHING on everyone that get in your way. NOASB stuck to the objective BLOWING that’s why they won to me. Yes MEMPHIS had a better book but all them songs wasn’t BLOWING some of them songs was for UIL battle and marching band season not for summer band.

To say a battle of bands is all about BLOWING is crazy. Music isn't all about blowing and being loud. You don't have to play a horn to understand that lol. The mentality in our community needs to evolve from Blowing to Musicianship because that's making US look bad frfr. Musicianship isn't a MEAC concept as well so don't try to use that as an excuse smh.

I’m a Southern University fan all day but I know bands like Florida a&m sounds better balanced. Bethune Cookman, Tennessee State, North Carolina. They all sound better than Southern but Southern get your heart, your soul. That’s raw power. KB how many classic bands songs was played at the battle?
