I can say that I love the musicianship that these directors have. Battle wise they’re not ready……song selections only.

The rout was in effect, and the PA announcer tried to save SU in Round 7 - didn't help; that Annihilate was mid. It started out strong, and I liked it, but it almost turned into a concert piece.
Yes JSU has that intricate, melody, tone, harmony and professional. We all know SU is loud and entertaining.
This was week three on the road for Jackson St and wanted all the smoke and got it easy and I was not expecting it hear that tune from 14 it brought back memories
The angle dont matter if the execution is not good. It dont take the camera to be in front of the band to hear execution, which SU wasn't given the majority of this battle

I agree with you that this game came too early on schedule. Back in my day, The Boombox was mid season and we started preparing for them from game one. Everybody we went up against up to that game were just victims of warfare that got caught in the wake.

The more I listen, i’m starting to think SU didn’t think Jackson would show up that early since they normally always late and they had to play more songs in the Zero than they expected and most of them were suppose to be saved for the next battle. No excuse tho.

@KBThaBandHead is one of the best to do it on this platform. He is not an SU homer; he has an SU bias. It has to be a clear and convincing win, or SU will get the nod, kinda like the tie goes to the runner in baseball. I have a bias towards DaBoom (TrumpFunk '85), but when they are mid, I gotta call it like I see it and be as objective as possible.
Southern has so many sousaphones and it really throws off the balance.

SU and other schools gotta stop cramming opposing bands in small ass corners. The only schools that I think give the opposing band a great spot are JSU and ASU. Great acoustics in both their stadiums and they ain’t scared to go face to face with other bands. Petition to have every future Crankfest in The Vet

Luv both bands. This the true rivalry. The Bayou Classic really needs JSU & SU. However I understand that revenue that the Schools gets makes sense for the game to be played at the schools instead of in New Orleans!
JSU is currently in their bag right now…..They are doing to Southern what Southern use to do to others…… JSU has clearly taken over the top spot and they have no interest in allowing Southern to think otherwise…. It’s truly amazing what can happen when you prioritize musicality and sound over simply cranking. Until Southern realizes that, JSU will be the top dog for years to come. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Job well done Sonic Boom!

I’m not too much a fan of Kenneth Collins’ writing for SU. He’s got a pen and he’s been doing this for awhile. But he’s extremely hit or miss when compared to the SU standard.

The truth about southern's trumpets is they are trying to save the band. SU is losing strictly on arrangements and song selection and they know it. Trumpets are trying to shoot for extra points no cap 💯😂😂😂
