Her voice seems like its so fragile and brittle, yet at the same time - there's this mastery, strength and control, subtly evident and it permeates the song throughout. This is a marriage of an evocative voice and sublime lyricality.
+JimmyBhoy71 if you hear her new tracks from her upcoming record, she does these lovely falsettos and more tender singing; her voice is just like an intrument of its own.
First off, love Angel Olsen. Call me crazy, but the drummer rushes the tempo in the first part and totally throws her off. The song is much better when it isn't rushed. Don't you think?
lot of adrenaline playing live, especially for an iconoclast. she appears to be the calmest center of a storm ever tho, masterpiece anchor tattoo come to life
intersting you noticed that -- the rushed drumming was the first thing I noticed too. and I'd just watched her KEXP session and marveled at the drummer's simple textures but apparently it's the same guy here....he must have been nervous on national TV.
watched a ton of her live videos tonight and it seems she only knows like 4 or 5 chords on the guitar, yet somehow her songs sound pretty distinct. that's impressive when talented song writers can pull that off. early punk comes to mind, and she def has that punk spirit.
It might not be that she "only knows like 4 or 5 chords" - it could be her vocal range falls comfortably within a certain key, so that is the key she plays in. I get so tired of people posting comments who think they are so smart, but in reality they don't know sh!t. Go take another bathroom selfie, numb nuts.

Like a female Johnny Cash crossed with Janis Joplin. With the fruitiness of Wendy James.

She kinda sounds like Ryan gosling in that one movie where he says he sings goofy
***** Blue Valentine, I think. One of my favourites...
Im getting a Patsy cline vibe
that voice is seriously good
I love your Moe Szyslak picture.
I'm completely in love! Shades of Roy orbison!!!
She's amazing. Definitely got that Roy Orbison thing going on!
Angel's voice is hauntingly beautiful 😍
This is my comfort performance
I will always love this performance it seems.
now tell me if you don't feel this way?
Takes me back to the 70s.
That voice with that strength. This could go anywhere.
She is Great !!! Nice voice !!
I love the drummer, I love her fringe and I love this version!!
He got hurt and had to play a left handed drum setup but he kept it that way for a long time
I love this live
what a lady. great performance.
Such a Great song
She asks me if "I'm lonely too?", smiles and I melt at 1:35
Great performance! Oh Dave I miss your show.

To be fair, even in versions where she starts the song herself she's usually off-tempo from the recorded version. Just one of those things.
I was about to say the same thing and honestly it kind of takes away from the mood of the song D:
TV performances have time limits; probably sped up the tempo on purpose
The drummer did speed up slightly, i noticed that. It's easy done
true
Put this at 1.25 speed and you got yourself a nice country song
that desciption tho

selfie lmaoooo
This is inaccurate
Play this at .05 speed ! It's so good!
oh! YEAH! Nice one!
Actually, .75 is spot-on
Haha I do this all the time with Angels fast songs
She sounds just like the recording
Omg those legs though
Some of her music one would have to have an acquired taste.
drummer fucked up the tempo
I just can’t get on with her voice at all.
Not gonna say you're wrong as all art is opinion, but it probably works for so many people because it doesn't sound trained at all.
