It's not right they did this, fully aware and couldn't be bothered to let you know or knock the cost of the damage off the bill? Definitely broken trust and I don't blame you for not wanting to go back there! If they were honest and offered to knock the cost of damage off your bill or offer to repair it free then fair enough, that would have been acceptable! Who on earth would be so dumb to place those bollards so close to that garage opening? ⚠️😯
Exactly! I know accidents happen and I'd have been fine if they just sorted it out and not lied about it to try and hide it. He still knows how to get in touch with me to give me cash back, but is still a dick, so won't. I'd have recommended him to all the local MX5 owners in forums and on my blogs, so he's lost tens of thousands in potential work. He's an idiot.
Got a feeling this may have been my car about 3 years ago, 2002 1.8i. I live near Alvechurch, it did need work on the sills, well one of them, silver hard top and I saw the car a while after I sold it and the wheels had been changed, like the ones on it in the picture. Weird if it was mine when I viewed this post at random. A grand for the work seems a lot though, I was quoted £500 for the work needed if it's the same car, a few coincidences there. The chap said he was taking it to Spain. Enough rambling on, was a good car, had it 12 years, just bought another one 2017, blame my wife.
It sounds like once you've had an MX5 you're in for life! I'll be trying to keep this one as long as possible... maybe with enough money I'll upgrade to a mk4, but planning on getting the front chassis rails done this year to keep it going for many years, yet. It's unlikely it's your car, but possible. I bought it from West Bromwich area and it's on Welsh reg plates (I think)... I'm pretty sure my sills had only ever been bodged, as they were totally gone - did you pay £500 for one side or for both sides?
No, as he said in the phonecall that he wouldn't give me their details as it was on private land so wasn't covered... I'm not entirely convinced that's right...
James Cater Racing Maybe I’m wrong, but to operate in business like that I thought they had to have something like public liability insurance. Citizens Advice for you maybe? Small Claims Court ?
@@andrewpreston4127 That was my understanding, too. For a £2-300 repair the court route just isn't worth it to me. I actually have all the materials to repair it myself, as I was going to fix the rear sills myself originally. I'm just disappointed that businesses still pull this crap and get away with it!
Thank you for sharing 🦔
How can you crash a miata like that, it's so tiny you can see everything

Did you make a claim to their insurance ?
No, as he said in the phonecall that he wouldn't give me their details as it was on private land so wasn't covered... I'm not entirely convinced that's right...
