I can't tell if they're missing jokes because of how fast they talk or if they're just not getting the humor.

I feel them, I remember when a friend made me watch the first season and a little more, I didn't wanted to be rude but she finally realized I wasn't vibing with it, in a way I related to Saiki, he wanted people to leave him alone with his coffee jello and I wanted to leave his show alone, I think the only part I enjoyed was the dumb magicians
I think they hear the jokes; they just don’t find it funny. Which I understand cause I don’t find these jokes funny either.

You forgot to mention that Saiki doesn't even talk to anyone except his parents, and a few others that knows he's a psychic. Everyone basically just hangs around him, without him actually doing any talking.
He explains in one of the first episodes that he does communicate with everyone, he just uses his telepathy instead of actually opening his mouth. People respond to what he 'says' all the time.
this is why it's such a big deal that he actually verbally thanks his friends in the finale, because that's literally the only time in the show that Saiki's mouth is actually animated for talking (not counting imaginary versions of him usually from Teruhashi's fantasies)
Sometimes the stuff he says goes directly to their minds, he never actually opens his mouth.

Watched Saiki K and loved it, recently got diagnosed with ADHD. It’s so fast paced and a lot of the episodes are self contained so there’s very few cliffhangers. Is still one of, if not the best comedy anime I’ve watched.

The comedy for this show is great! It's such an underrated gem, sucks s2 never got dubbed because the English dub is arguably funnier. Except for people who need everything to go slow and be explained for them. Thankfully there is nobody like that here. Thankfully.

i get that they kind of have to commentate over the show to get views, and maybe they arent talking over it in the stream as much as they are here, but the show is supposed to be fast paced and it literally makes fun of the things they talk about (like teruhashi seeming basic/the characters being basic, which btw this is a highschool show, they all have to wear uniforms, how unique can they look?? anyways her whole thing IS that shes the "ideal look", acts basic on purpose, and is self absorbed etc) but they dont seem to actually be trying to enjoy it, its like when someone gets you to watch a show you dont think you'll like so you keep this negative mindset from the start and miss the good parts because youre too busy nit picking/talking over it by saying how bad it is.

It's fine to not like the show, parodies aren't everyone's cup of tea......But as the show is purposely a self aware parody, it doesn't make sense to say its bad for having elements of a self aware parody.

There's a difference to watch parody just for the reference and smug satisfaction of getting it, and actually just experiencing a funny joke because it's the kind of joke you could take being said about yourself.
The first is like blackface, and being a person who is offended if that doesn't put blacks in thier place, the latter is like wearing a sombrero, if you're mexican that makes it extra funny and if you're not that ALSO makes it extra funny.
For the record, to add to the last comment dressing like Stephen colbert is like wearing the sombrero of the whites, BEING him is like the other thing, only about being white.

I'm actually really picky when it comes to anime so there's not a lot of shows I watch. But when I gave Saiki K a try I was surprised at how much I really liked it, hell it even got a lot of laughs outta me. This show will always be one of my favorites.

I like how the videos editing matches how much attention they were paying, at the start it's mostly the anime, you get alot of context but later on they are screaming, there's cuts everywhere and they scream, its metaphorical and stuff

watching it in japanese with a good sub is a whole new level dude, i think that's what made me love this anime so much! the guy who was doing the subtitles was so competent that certain jokes about japanese culture had quick explanations that made me not only learn new things, but also laugh about something i never thought was funny.
Saiki Kusuo is my favorite anime fr bro, and all thanks to the amazing writers working on the manga, and the amazing sub guy who gave me a whole new perception of it!
It's not good because it's almost impossible to read two walls of text at the same time because two people are talking at once.

Fun fact: Nendou's Japanese VA is Daisuke Ono, the voice of Jotaro from JOJO's, Erwin Smith from AOT, and Shukuro Tsukishima from Bleach, one of the many reasons the show is better in Japanese.

@@admiralmonocle3874 I think their enjoyment of things they watch is heavily affected by the nature of their content. They keep talking over it, which is great for content, but they spend so much time not listening/watching so when they get back into it, they've missed a significant amount, so they aren't invested, and therefore don't really care about the comedy.
Ironically, despite the fact they hate Family Guy, it's the perfect comedy for them, since cutaway gags mean you don't have to be invested in the actual story or characters at all.

I love Saiki K. and would call it like..... Absurd, comfort funny, if that makes ANY sense. But I can also definitely see how it would not appeal to everyone. It especially doesn't really work for a reaction channel because it's so rapid fire with its jokes and dialogue, if you start reacting to it, you'll miss half the show.
SAIKI K IS SOO GOOD OMG.. especially the eng dub out of context that is the funniest thing ever. (I think the absurdity of it is what makes it funny, and the irony. idk I just really like it it’s a comfort show I watch it when I’m sad)
I think the problem is how fast pased the show is, its really funny but you have to actually pay attention to get it
You have to also be slightly intelligent to get it. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but with how fast it is, you need to process information fast and have at least a normal IQ, I know some people don't get the jokes and have to pause and rewind multiple times during each episode. It's really not for everyone. Many people don't find it funny because they simply have, the way many people like to put it, "skill issues".
This show is way too good. My favorite anime of all time.
