It’s interesting to see how the railways of Italy compare to that of England. Honestly, since moving to China, I think nothing can compare to the speed and punctuality of the trains here! Which part of Italy is this? Graffities are usually seen on structures along the railroad, but seeing them on the train bodies is something new. One of the reasons that the train bodies are made of stainless steel in many US cities is to allow easy removal of graffities.

Old railways were designed with steam engines. As advanced as Japan Rail, there are many 80kmh tracks in Japan. One can take high speed train Tokyo to Hakodate in Hokkaido in 8 hrs, but the local train from Hokodate to Sapporo is 80kmh or less for another 4 hrs.
Italy is undoubtably one of the most beautiful countries with magnificent history and culture, I absolutely adore it. However, most of its public transport are still being operated by the medieval systems and in many smaller towns the public transport is next to non existence that majority of people have to rely on private transfer means. Italy is the only developed EU country that has no riding Apps (Uber etc.) in operation as the government has to 'protect' the taxi drivers' rights. The political system has rotten to its bone with no major changes will be made regardless whoever wins the election. The ones who do have brains to manage the country better had been purged out. A place to love, a place to pity, that's made Italy today.

In Italy, the taxi industry and NCC (rental shuttle services with drivers) are almost like the existence of the mafia. The industry in each region is operated or even monopolized by a few companies that hold a limited number of operating licenses. Sharing economy products like Uber are struggling to compete with them because they lack the necessary licenses. As time goes on, consumers may feel that their services are outdated, expensive, and some taxi drivers in even international cities like Rome and Milan may not be able to communicate in English. The ticketing system for slow trains between regions is also unfriendly to tourists who are unfamiliar with the country and they may be fined unintentionally.
I once bought a ticket from Como to Milan and Milan to Bologna. But I didn't put the first ticket in the little machine because there was written the day and time of when I bought the ticket. They made me pay for the fine, the guy just didn't want to know why and asked very quickly for money. I stayed shorter in Italy that time. Many things I don't like anymore.. sorry for that.
If you are a train conductor in Europe, facing hundreds or thousands of riders daily, you will not care for countless reasons the ticket wasn't validated. The rule is there for decades, travelers should do their homework. It is not the conductor's job to determine if there is intent of fare dodging. Issue the fine, move on to check the next passenger, whether the rider learnt the lesson or not is of no concern.
the tickets for regionale(the slowest train) is valid for 3 months from purchase, so you have to convalidate it when you need to use it, for faster trains like eurostars and italo the ticket is valid only for the very train and seat you purchased, so it doesn't need to be convalidated
don't mean to degrade the italians. pickpocket is a problem in italy. my sister-in-law was pickpocketed in rome in october. so, when you travel in italy, make sure to put your handbags, backpacks and whatever in front of you. love from canada.

Sometimes the smaller town station’s ticket office close earlier, and you can’t buy tickets. It happened to me when I visited Lake Como. On my returned trip back to Milan, the small station of Varenna was closed earlier, we were quite a lot of people at the station catching the last train. They told us to take the train first and pay on board when the ticket inspector comes, but by the time we arrived to Milan, we did no see any ticket inspector on board 😂
You could buy it on different apps. On the app Trenitalia you can buy a ticket up to 5 minutes before the train arrives. Was that just an excuse not to buy the ticket? Like this Chinese guy in the video😒

The way they run things are very inconsistent, specially in the smaller towns, I don’t know if they upgraded now. Also, why would I do such a thing of not buying a ticket? I’ve travelled from Rome, to Florence, cinque Terre, Venice, Milan, to lake como by train and paid all tickets. I also rented a car in Tuscany, you think I can’t pay €3 from Varenna back to Milan? I’ve paid a damn taxi of €90 from the city of Milan to the airport! In Hong Kong, it is illegal to walk on the tracks, plus passengers need to contact the staff to pick the dropped items for them.

This is not bad compare to US rails. It is cheaper, faster and more convenient to travel by rail in Europe especially between big cities.

在德国,又一次我女儿的帽子,掉到站台下面去了,就是铁轨上。我就按照我自己以前在日本的经验,找工作人员,因为工作人员有一个长柄的夹子,可以把铁轨上的物品夹上来,但是我找了半天没有找到工作人员,最后在站台找到了一个查票的,他就让我直接跳下去捡。最后我看S-bahn还有好几分钟才到,就自己跳下去捡上来的。那个站台得有1米2以上,比视频里的站台高。

你们为什么不在手机上买票呢?快车要提前买票比较便宜,有指定位置。慢车没有指定座位,固定的价格所以也不需要提前买票,我都是赶到了火车站了才买票。电子票也不再需要确认了。我上次去意大利用了Omio和 Rail Europe。意大利的火车价格也挺便宜的,一个小时的高铁大概也就是12欧元。

夏天在法国坐火车也是各种奇葩,自己的那趟车晚点,就换到早一班火车,上去发现空调坏掉,但为了赶上在巴黎要转的下一班火车,只能在闷热的车厢里等,没想到等了一个多小时,空调修不好,有乘客问了站台上的工作人员,他就让大家换到另一个站台的火车,大家都已经大汗淋漓,还是拿着行李楼上楼下搬到另外一个站台上的火车,没想到那个火车还是没有空调,更可恶的是,这个火车的窗户都不能开,比前一个火车还要闷热,等了快一个小时,没有任何通知的情况下,我突然看到对面站台来的火车(其实就是我本来要坐的那个火车)是要去巴黎的,没有工作人员通知,我马上拿着行李上了这趟火车,还好自己上去的早,找到了个座位坐下,后面上来的人可都是要站一个多小时,大家没想到吧,法国有很多这样的城际火车都是无座票,座位也是先来后到😂,到了巴黎,还要从火车北站坐地铁转到东站,再去找我的火车,可是因为手机APP的信息没有及时更新,我以为要转的车已经走了,想着去换票,然后又被站台工作人员一通乱指点,还好没听她的,我自己看着站台上的列车时刻表选了一辆我觉得可以坐的车,没想到阴差阳错还是上了我本来要坐的那趟车,因为上去的急,我上错了车厢,这趟车要在一个中途站一分为二,我上去的车厢到不了我的目的地,那么我在中途站又要拿着行李下车走到我自己本来的那个车厢找到本来我自己的座位,这才安稳下来😂 哎!这就是法国现在坐火车的现状,我还是有法国乘火车的经验,对于旅游小白们,坐法国火车(欧洲都一样),一定要做足功课,特别是转乘,换票等,一定要了解,否则你一定会碰上各种奇葩事

哈哈,深有感触!前两年从德国回国,要坐火车去法兰克福坐飞机,中间要倒三次车,最后一趟车不知道怎么回事就被取消了,然后也没有任何通知,然后就是在站台上着急懵逼,怕赶不上飞机,毕竟疫情期间机票好几万啊。最后问来问去,跟着车站的工作人员上了一辆不知道从哪过来的火车,幸亏没误机🤣

超级喜欢意大利火车站的自动售票机,因为它可以选择中外。欧洲其他国家我是没见过。
我印象中现在意大利的慢车票也只能在当天使用了诶,以前没有日期限制的时候我看到有人把透明唇膏涂在车票上去打票机上打,如果没有人检票,就可以把打出来的日期擦掉,票下次继续用

高铁的话像这么横穿的人 等你看到车已经来不及躲了 非常危险
@Lex Beaf 从座椅布置和站点密度来看,是城际铁路,不是地铁或轻轨。当然也不是高铁。相当于中国的老绿皮,不过座舱的崭新度,座椅舒适度接近中国的高铁。
检票员不是仅仅靠脑记着乘客的,他手上有座位表,在那里上下车做了记号的。
加拿大也是不检票的, 自觉买,不过还是会有一些站台有人随机抽查。

检票的逻辑是检票员+可观逃票收入和检票设施+较少的逃票收入哪个划算决定的,站在百姓视角评人性化能看出个寂寞

@@linli3765 美國加拿大大多數人都係自己揸車或者坐飛機。中國人在中國到做衰嘢冇問題。去到國外做衰嘢就影響國家同人民嘅聲譽

在德国如果抓到你逃票你就必须交罚款,不能下车直接走,不然会被警察带走。
