Italy is undoubtably one of the most beautiful countries with magnificent history and culture, I absolutely adore it. However, most of its public transport are still being operated by the medieval systems and in many smaller towns the public transport is next to non existence that majority of people have to rely on private transfer means. Italy is the only developed EU country that has no riding Apps (Uber etc.) in operation as the government has to 'protect' the taxi drivers' rights. The political system has rotten to its bone with no major changes will be made regardless whoever wins the election. The ones who do have brains to manage the country better had been purged out. A place to love, a place to pity, that's made Italy today.

In Italy, the taxi industry and NCC (rental shuttle services with drivers) are almost like the existence of the mafia. The industry in each region is operated or even monopolized by a few companies that hold a limited number of operating licenses. Sharing economy products like Uber are struggling to compete with them because they lack the necessary licenses. As time goes on, consumers may feel that their services are outdated, expensive, and some taxi drivers in even international cities like Rome and Milan may not be able to communicate in English. The ticketing system for slow trains between regions is also unfriendly to tourists who are unfamiliar with the country and they may be fined unintentionally.

If you are a train conductor in Europe, facing hundreds or thousands of riders daily, you will not care for countless reasons the ticket wasn't validated. The rule is there for decades, travelers should do their homework. It is not the conductor's job to determine if there is intent of fare dodging. Issue the fine, move on to check the next passenger, whether the rider learnt the lesson or not is of no concern.

Pickpockets unfortunately are all gypsies like in Rome. The government can’t do much because many of them don’t want to live like the rest of Italians. Many don’t send their children at school and don’t do normal jobs. The only thing they can do is stealing. Then if the government does something to prevent this, they will be called racist because they are a minority. If they are caught stealing, they are send to jail and the next day they are free especially if they are women and children.
Even fake gladiators in Rome are usually foreigners mostly from Bulgaria and Romania.

That last train we took was so crowded, people were standing up, others seating on the floor it was very packed. It is the best combination of political freedom, economic prosperity and social cohesion that the humankind has been able to build - the three things together". "The rest of the world is not exactly a garden. Most of the rest of the world is a jungle, and the jungle could invade the garden."
