The game. Bristol City sat back, initially, waiting for the onslaught on an emotional day but they, , easily, dealt with one main striker.Kevin Nisbet showed some nice classy touches but Bristol just put 2/3 men on him. After 25 minutes of nothingness, Bristol realised they could win this and was the better team without really penetrating. Joe Bryan, also, showed some neat touches. Bristol looked livelier after 60/65 minutes and came close on 2 or 3 occasions. Rowett FINALLY brought on Bradders and eventually Esse and Co only to take Nisbet off,so Kevin never had the benefit of any supply.Danny Mac was on the beach and if anyone was going to win it was BC and they did with 90 seconds left and deserved it.
@@TheEpicMineCrafter13 Yes,to be fair, defensively he was ok but several times he failed to control decent passes to him and his final ball was poor. He is more a traditional full back than wing back.
Isle of Skye where were you? Danny Mac was subbed because he worked himself into the ground if Fleming cooper Bryan put a shift in s DM did and does every game we would be a top team . Savile spent the match talking to a Bristol city player then came on and did nish but the real culprit is rowett he fails our club on every occasion waiting until the 82nd minute to bring on subs that changed the tempo and the crowd was a massive mistake and one that he constantly makes
From a Bristol City supporter’s perspective, it’s great to hear an unbiased opinion of the game. From watching it on tv, both teams struggled to create, we ultimately are looking to attack teams on the counter with pace, which we’ve tried to put throughout the front 3-4 & against teams who play 5 at the back & sit a bit deeper (as Millwall did) we will struggle to create much as there isn’t the space in behind. We did have one opportunity in the first half from a corner & maybe could have had a penalty for a blatant shove by your right-back on Sam Bell when making no attempt to play the ball. We are currently dealing with a few injuries (Tommy Conway out for 2-3 months, Weimann, Atkinson (out possibly until December/New Year) Benerous & McCrorie & we’ve just sold Alex Scott (our prize asset) in this past week. Dickie only signed in the summer & his partnership with Vyner is only just starting but Vyner is in the last year of his contract & has suitor’s sniffing around so he could be off soon, same with our left-back Pring & Left-forward Sam Bell, all are attracting interest. So we could have some changes before this transfer window closes. If we can keep these players & maybe add a couple then there no knowing how we could do, we’ve played two league matches against teams we historically struggle to get results against (Preston & Millwall) & have walked away with 4 points, there seems to be a different mindset within the team which could lead us towards the upper end of the division although this optimism could all disappear after one capitulation. Good luck for the season, as always I think you’ll be difficult to beat & maybe that’s Rowett’s problem, he’d rather not get beat rather than try to win a game?
I think there is a lack of fundamental coaching.Rowett wants to play with handbrake on, we're on the back foot.Minus one player yesterday he could have played that formation against Blackburn!Long season if he doesn't change his mind set.
Another Rowett masterclass. I predicted 0/0 after 65 minutes if he just played one main striker at home then, belatedly,he would put on the team that should have started in this home game and we would win and Rowett would be hailed a "genius" for finishing with the eam who were, closer,to what I hoped would be the starting line up. Forgive me for being an old romantic but I thought Nisbet was going to take the load of Bradders and they would have 2 main strikers to worry about but far too ambitious for a HOME game against mighty Bristol City. Another highlight was ALL ELEVEN back at every corner so the second ball kept coming back.Cheers Gazza:(
1 shot on target the whole game (from a free-kick). The system was at fault today. 5-2-3 at home won't get us promoted. Doesn't get the best out of Flemming, and evidently Nisbit. Danny McNamara is solid defensively, but limited going forward. Casper De Norre looks a good signing, one positive.
Your match report summed the game up perfectly. Too many long balls that didn’t reach their target, we need to go back to playing proper football, with accurate passing and awareness. Onwards and upwards, we’ve never made things easy for ourselves.
It's the same old Millwall !! This happens every year !! We need at least 10 to 12 games into the season for things to settle down.and find our best formation..don't panic just yet !! Things will get better 🙏. . If you look back 5 years and listen to the comments ,it's ecsactly the same !! Year after year ...
I agree with what you say but GR seems set and stubbon in his ways and the last time he found a winning combination of players and the formation to play them in was because his favoured players ( the Ryan Woods era) were all out injured and he had no other choice than to finally, FINALLY, play the players and formation the supporters had wanted him to play for ages. It was a classic example of not seeing the wood for the trees. Playing Emakhu, Nisbet, Bradshaw and Esse right from the start seems the logical and obvious choice in this instance so why doesn't he play them? Is he not seeing the wood for the trees again, or is there something we don't know about?
A dire performance, if Bristol City had a forward line, it would have been a rerun of Reading. Millwall had no organisation with players running into each other, two or three going for the same ball and no out ball, they did not look like a team at all - and as Pearson said, Bristol City looked far fitter too. What is going on in training? Millwall never looked like scoring, only when Bradders came on did they show any sign of life. De Norre and Bryant both played well and look really good acquisitions , they were easily two of Millwall’s better players, but Sarkic has no command of his area and his kicking is pretty poor - no wonder the Wolves fans were happy enough to see him leaving. Surely Rowett must see his three at the back combinations do not work with the players at his disposal? Keep on like this and it will be a long, hard season.

This has to improve as I cant watch this shit every week. Frustrates me how GR cant lift our players for cup games and big occasions like today. So pissed off.
Our two youngsters, After Burner and Laughter Burner, should be playing a more integral part in our team because they have shown they add an effective and exciting dynamic to our game.
Our pressing was poor, Bradshaw aside. We're standing too far off the city players. They had way too much time to receive the ball, get their heads up and play. We lacked intensity, aggression and not tight enough when out of possession. Then 5 atb, wingbacks not pushing on and CB's just lumping it forward, bypassing De Norre, Mitchell and Flemming. City just collecting it and play out again, with Nisbet hardly touching the ball.
Why is everyone being so polite and nice . Our manager is wretch. No ambition . No bollocks He ruined the whole day for our late chairmen’s family and us . Leave
A totally inept performance from a majority of the players The back five dosent work Fleming is clearly not interested anymore and how does Rowett expect Nisbet to score if you don't give him the ball. Going to Norwich next Sunday hope its a better performance then.
IMO Our passing was piss poor, either too short, going out, or bread and butter for their defence, we didnt win enough 2nd balls and we were out muscled. I hate the new rule, but I have no cause for complaint while it is applied to everyone fairly About as Millwall a performance as I've seen, and a real shame considering I think this is the best squad in depth we've seen for a long time
