● ▬ ☸ The purpose of the #Dhumavatimantra ☸ ▬●
PRIMARY NIGHT, OR INITIAL CHAOS
Dhumavati symbolizes the original Chaos, which lies at the beginning of Creation (Mulavidya). The whole Universe of Illusions sprang from Chaos, and we must transcend this illusion. The simple truth is that we are originally born in ignorance, and this fact is not the result of fiction or the discovery of some philosophy. We really do not know who we are or where we are going in life. Our life is a limited light between the darkness of the past and the darkness of the future. Before birth and after death, the darkness of Dhumavati envelops us. The darkness of ignorance hides the light of consciousness from us. If Maya personifies the magical power of the Divine Illusion, which splits the Unified Reality into many objects and phenomena, then ignorance is the power of darkness that darkens the light of the vision underlying this Reality from us. However, there is also a positive meaning in ignorance: only when we are truly aware of our ignorance do prerequisites for knowledge arise. And then a real reassessment of everything that we used to call knowledge and what turned out to be essentially ignorance occurs.
For yogis, the factor of higher misunderstanding is that a person ignores or forgets the true nature of his “I”, which always seeks to eliminate fears, likes and dislikes, false opinions and beliefs. As the mind progresses toward the realization that there is no reality outside of consciousness, man approaches immortality.
Dhumavati is therefore the original Dream of the Universe in which all creations are dissolved in the Reality of Parabrahman. In the same way, Dhumavati means yoga-nidra, or yogic sleep, in which the yogi stays in a state of deep meditation, cutting him off from the outside world. Dhumavati, therefore, symbolizes the state of bliss that precedes creation, when everything was in one Impersonal Brahman. Dhumavati invites us to wake up from samsara dreams and return to the peaceful state of nirvana.
