    Premature AV Nodal Junctional Beats
Premature beat created by AV bundle or AV node either due to intake of too much drugs e.g antiarrhythmics or antibiotics, may be the patient is taking too much caffeine or nicotine, or is under stress, or there is some calcified plaque nearby in the cardiac tissue, or there is infarctive tissue that is irritating the nearby healthy cells. Any one of these can trigger AV node or AV bundle to generate a premature beat.
Dr. Mobeen Syed explains that if the ectopic focus of the extrasystole is in the AV bundle, there will be no P wave although there will be a QRS complex because AV bundle is a one way street towards the ventricles (no contraction of atrium).
If ectopic focus of the extrasystole is somewhere near the AV node, then this impulse can travel backwards towards the atria as well as forward towards the ventricles. P wave and QRS complex is created at the same time. Due to this reason, P wave and QRS complex are superimposed on each other. If this happens repeatedly then these premature beats become premature rhythm.
    Following topics are discussed:
    *Premature beats or extrasystole.
    *Junctional extrasystole.
    *Junctional beat vs junctional rhythm.
*EKG changes associated with junctional premature beats.
