Refreshing to see something Sean Bean does not die in. Though for a moment I did think the potatoe pushed him a bit close to it.
Haha true.
Isn't there one episode left ?
Hahahahahaha
@A. Fox wrote it yesterday 🤦
I thought his character was a stroke sufferer.
Does anybody know any audiobooks read by Sean Bean? I could literally listen to his voice forever. What a pure legend this man is. We need more of him in the movies!!
some game of thrones content on youtube
He recorded 2 of BC’s Sharpe Books as audio books.
Anyone who thinks this 'tiff' is just about a jacket potato knows absolutely NOTHING about marriage.
I like Sean. He makes me giggle because whatever he's appearing in, say 'Troy' in Ancient Greece or as a transvestite in a Jimmy McGovern play, he still has his Sheffield accent.
And then he grabs her hand! LOL! I love it. That was a master tennis match right there between those 2 fine actors.
Excellent acting and writing, it’s often what’s not said in a marriage that counts. Life isn’t fast moving, this is honest and sometimes painful to watch, but I think many of us can associate with it. Thank you 🙏
He got angry because he felt as if he has lost his voice and he was going through alot: made redundant recently, trip was also paid for by wife I presume, so he didnt have most of the things in control in these days, and getting a jacket potato was the only thing he thought that he had control over and her wife didnt pay attention to that, so he felt he had lost total control/he has no voice..... bloody genius series indeed.....
Sean bean can become a king in any country at any time
Seriously... don't mess with an Englishman and his food request! Lesson learned.
My wife and I watched this............we haven't spoken since.
This has got to be the funniest thing ever
Two wonderful actors and two of my favourites but oh dear, dear, dear. !!!
I know know right 🙀
Best opening scene over😂😂many a couples fight has started with banal issues like a jacket potato😂
"no potatuh?" bluddy jackket PUTATAH? NO PUTATAH HE DIDN'T GIVE A PUTATAH!! YOU AD CHIPZ HE HAD POTATUHHHh???
lmfaoooo deid
“What a superbly featured room, and what excellent boiled potatoes.”
Very emotional. And don’t miss Sean getting rid of the ants and when he gets a pound stuck in a gym locker.
Usually the English humour is funny and / or sarcastic in a dark way and really good. But this dialogue lacked spice, humour and seemed quite dull.
4 hour long episodes where absolutely nothing happens! The only reason the title music is so bloody loud is to wake you up.
Most depressing pointless show ever.
The point it is an antidote to the fast-paced, dumbing down, ultra-excitement nature of short titillating clips we are bombarded with on social media and TV that destroy brain cells.
Dull.
@@jofoster1596 no one wants to admit they have a 5 second attention span these days
@@jofoster1596 they probably think got was good.
Is it just me who thinks that jacket potatoes are the most depressingly dull, wretched things to eat?
I used to love them, but I had some recently and it was exactly as you said.
I'm guessing that is what we call a "Baked potato" here. Usually eaten with lots of butter and salt and/or sour cream. Quite good, actually. Now, if you're going to eat it plain...blah.
It's just a little thing that let's him vent. Something else is worrying him.
I agree
Marmite show. I tuned in and was sat there thinking WTF is this. Then watched all 4 episodes, utterly tedious but I couldnt take my eyes off it.
Amazed Bean agreed to play this nonsense. Some of the dialogue between the pair is just plain daft. At times he looks embarrassed .. Guess he must have a tax bill to settle to want to do this..
I watched his interview with Nicola and the writer/director. He seemed to genuinely like the script and the story. Good for him. I think its a good role for him, looking forward to this.
Amazing how 2 people can see 2 totally different things while looking at the same picture. Sort of like...marriage?
Daft? Every holiday I've been on I've met this couple. Was painfully spot on.
I preferred Bean's 'revitalising shower gel' scenes, just riveting tv. And there's 4 hours of it to savour on iplayer. Sean Bean loading a dishwasher, Sean Bean opening a drawer, Sean Bean buying some cashews, Sean Bean complaining about dirty surfaces in lifts, Sean Bean varnishing a garden chair, Sean Bean clearing his throat, Sean Bean sighing, Sean Bean crying.
James Bolam asking if wine exists in other countries other than his own, James Bolam offering guidance on how to cut a sandwich containing tomatoes, James Bolam ignoring his daughter, James Bolam's son ignoring James Bolam's daughter.
Another character offering Nicola Walker a French Fancy several times, another character telling Sean Bean & Nicola Walker to 'stop saying bye'.
Quality 'drama'.
With these two great actors and the title Marriage , I could only guess how good this was going to/ or might be but bit of a slow burner so far but will keep watching 😏
All the fuss about that ring and now this...
I only watched this because I perv at Sean Bean
This entire episode was terrible. Very awkward, made me want to die.
Can't wait for episode 2
If I want to look at the dull, boring everyday of a long term marriage I'll just look at my own. Where is the entertainment?
I'm sure yours can't be as boring as mine.
@@monicas2269 😒 keep smiling 😀
@@vinderloovince3011 I try 🙂

Cannot wait to see this.
This was brilliant, the whole potato thing was a coping mechanism by both of them for his fear of flying.
Found this really awkward to watch
I can't hear them mumbling so I just ignored them and read the comments. Still awkward though. Hmm.
@A. Fox Tastemaker.
Awful show truly painful to watch
@A. Fox totally agree
Wonder if there is people out there that would argue like this over a potato 😂
It wasn't about the potato.
@@hopehoping yes it was 😂
Yes, millions of them.
@@hopehoping Exactly. I think mostly mature & married people will understand and appreciate these ‘potato’ exchanges.
I’m a little shocked and slightly disappointed at the comments here.
The theme music is in the style of what the BBC Radiophonic workshop would have done in the 70’s and 80’s and people seem shocked that it’s a bit different and experimental? Voices and echo seem a bit too much for folk these days ?
What do people want?
A nice little tune that sounds like everything else !?
Come on people

It’s time for some free thinking 🤔
They just want to grouse. They must be lovely company. Me...I'd watch Nicola read the damn phonebook. This is from the same very droll, dry, subtly witty writer of "Mum," which I (an american) loved.
She can’t admit she should of asked if they do jacket potatoes that would of ended that quick
Northern accent was meant to express anger
Trust me, the storyline wont improve. The writers must be daft.
Spoiler alert: Sean dies in this movie right away and comes back to his wife in the body of Whoopi Goldberg.
I really liked the scene where she was making a bowl to put the chips in...
Gee, what a brilliant scene!! Sean Bean, you’re the best, and Nicola, you’re absolutely lovely ❤️
I knew I recognized Eddark Stark/Boromir!
Just thought the first episode was strange, two very good actors doing this was odd, let's hope this gets better argument over a potatoes fried boiled or baked. Come on people must of thought this is weird.
It's post lockdown propaganda to keep the people in a prolonged state of despair. This is why no one watches TV anymore.
Not in the least. Seriously? That's Marriage! To a tee! Perfectly played. What was weird to you?!
@@anastasiabeaverhausen8220 that's not marriage. There's missing context as to why the characters are the way they are. Every marriage is not the same.
It unfortunately doesn't get better...
@@ferretfriend5458 no it really doesn't absolute garbage, could literally push people over the edge
Bloody awful..
I really hoped this would be good. A lot of time when Sean stands ???? I understand he is portraying a man lost, but I hope tomorrow night there is a bit more life to this series
Two really good actors in such an awful drama, is the bad language really necessary
Erm, yes. Otherwise it wouldn't be very convincing.
Have watched the first episode tonight. 3 episodes to go. This 1st episode is a bit bland. But the title music and song is annoying. No idea why it has been chosen for this program. I think the storyline builds to more drama but these are two amazing actors are making it look like hard work trying to act being married. Storyline is something that I'm sure will improve. But wasn't overly impressed by this first episode. Title music ruins it.
It’s supposed to be bland
Just seen a Newspaper article ( Newspaper Chronicle) saying that many people are complaining about the theme tune and it made them switch off. I at least preserved and watched it all the way through. The theme tune obviously won't of done it any favours. It was too edgy and unsuitable for the programme. Both are great actors and great to see North East actor James Bolam (Likely Lads, New Tricks, Only when I laugh). I get there was tension for the reason of the storyline. There is more to the story but the theme tune will put people off watching some excellent actors tell a very deep and tragic story.
@@victoriahouse9969 Unsuitable? The theme tune is the perfect representation of marriage
Two voices, arguing and out of sync, slowly coming together in a grand celebratory chorus. That's marriage. Two people, often out of sync but able to come together when they need to.
Welll it's put me off from watching the next 3 episodes. I usually go with this motto "If I like the theme tune, I usually end up liking the show". It's worked for years. Sadly its also proven me right with this show. Despite the actors. The storyline didn't grab me and the music annoyed me.
It is boring and boring
Honesty Rather surprised Sean Bean would agree to this sorta role at this point in his career.
exactly..pointless dribble
He's an actor, for god sake! 😳🙄
Didn't he play a transvestite and won an award for it?
I'm sure all they had to say was "Nicola Walker" playe your wife. No-brainer.
@@toomuchinformation Yes, yes he did. Your point?
Well that was all truly awful.
Couldn't invest in such boring people.
Is this the sort of life the elites at the BBC think us little people lead?
You would have to brain dead to think this show was good. its sad to see a great actor like Sean Bean playing this part.
No. Brain dead people want explosions and instant gratification..not intelligent emotional drama.
Think you have to be a little brain dead to not understand why the show is good.
WHAT A LOAD OF BULL.

Love that Aoooooooooooo
for a man that has “made it” to only have a women walk rather than admit her faults, I would say beware. 45 years old, 16 years of marriage, and my wife is leaving without trying to fix anything. You will experience it, all of you. Enjoy your eventual divorces. Don’t bother with marriage!!! It’s only for the wives advantage!
I don’t get it. Married for 27 years and she doesn’t know, he has flying anxiety? She goes on and on about that potatoe. Does she think, he will admit fear? This is not love and understanding! This is passive aggressive old hag mode. Feelings are contrived in this.
ВВС….
RUBBISH
what the heck is a jacket potato???
A baked potato.
I was so confused
Potatoes retain heat so you put them in your jacket to stay warm and then when they finally get cold you take a warm one out of someone else's pocket and slip the cold one in there.
Works every time.

They call potatoes chips, in England. That would be enough to divorce someone, right there, so I hope they can work things out.

This series was so AWFUL! Stilted unbelievable dialogue, plot (if you can call it that) moved slower than a glacier and theme music so horrible I had to turn the sound off every time. I endured to the last episode, thinking it had to get better, but it didn't.
RIDICULOUS is 100% correct.

Yes, and two adults married a long time act this way. And they are portraying it for us to look and consider how we act in our lives
