    In their post-race comments, Dixon, Power, and Pagenaud were vocal they wanted to come back to Pocono again.
    Dixon: "The group of people here that work, they work extremely hard. I felt the crowd today at the start of the race was fantastic. It was gaining some really good momentum. Hopefully it does continue"
    Power: "The crowd is up 15 percent every year we come back. It's getting better. Like Scott said, the crowd was great today. It's a good racetrack, man, a good track for racing. I really hope we come back. I think the guys do a great job. It’s a cool track for us… It's hard for us to find good ovals these days that suit our cars.”
    Pagenaud: "It is a fun track to drive on. Real unfortunate, close to New York, a great market for IndyCar. It's an opportunity to bring people from New York to Indy car races... As a driver, I really enjoy coming here.”

    Indycar seriously needs another 2.5 mile oval 500 race alongside Indy. Pocono is a great track - all it needs is some sizeable funding to improve safety. By slowly moving away from these superspeedways, Indycar is losing its USP and turning slowly into a second tier US version of F1.

    • @michaelgawel5823

    We need Indycar racing back in Pennsylvania! Pocono just needs to know how to promote Indycar races much better. The track needs to improve safety here and there and the drivers need to know when to back off so they won’t crash so soon

      @N. Warner that wouldn’t cost nearly as much to fix then. Just increase the width of the backstretch
      I think the biggest problem has been a lack of practice and a lack of a lot of ovals on the schedule. We need more of them. Lots more. Milwaukee, Michigan, Pocono, and maybe bring in another like Kentucky. That to me would be pretty great.

    • @michaelhazen3153
      @michaelhazen3153 Год назад

      @N. Warner I was at that race and almost went into shock when they brought Elliot Sadler's car around on a flatbed truck and it had no front end. Only the firewall and back of it. Then I saw the replays on the big screens with Sadler's seat belts stretching so far forward. We could wait a hundred years and never see another wreck that bad but it's a testament to NASCAR safety capsules. I agree totally with you. As good as the IndyCar racing is at Pocono they shouldn't go back because of the track like you said and the fans aren't showing up even though they put on a better race there.ore often than NASCAR does 9 out of 10 races. IndyCar does.need 3 500 mile oval races but the third I don't know. I've often said that they could have an Indy 400 but nobody agrees with me in Indy where I have a lot of friends. Fontana and Michigan would be great.

It's a raw, zero error track, and we can't expect drivers to be paralyzed or killed for mistakes on track. Felix definitely had a lucky escape here.

    All it needs is a safety upgrade & maybe another repave & this track will be fine. In all honesty, this track is very similar to Indianapolis, it needs to come back along with re-adding Michigan back on the schedule for a Triple Crown of 500 milers again because I personally think there would be a better chance now of a driver potentially winning that now than during the CART era...

    Like most said, please bring this race back. Hopefully RP can work with the speedway to promote it. I’ll be there if it comes. And simple solution to early lap wrecks, spread the rows like Indy. 500 mile race on a track they can go 15 wide, the fans won’t mind if rows are spread 3-5 car lengths.

    Given that this track has had some of the worst crashes ever in IndyCar, I think they did the right thing to bail out of this course because look at what happened to Robert Wickens and the big crash from this race. Look at what happened with Ryan Hunter-Reay. I personally think that if they bring back Pocono, they need to do some big renovations to the catch fence and make it stronger. The crash with Wickens proved that they need better catch fences. Regardless of super barrier or concrete, that’s not the problem now. It’s the catchfence. This course is one of the fastest courses in IndyCar today and or if they do come back to this course. And worst of all, this was the course that killed the legend Justin Williams

      Most of the time on ovals, drivers will offset the steering to the left, so that even at the peak of your turn your arms aren't crossed. As a result, to go straight the steering wheel will be slightly to the right.

    I think that enough time has gone by to where we have had lots of key safety innovations like closed open wheel cockpits, to where we should be going to tracks like Pocono, Kansas, Homestead-Miami, heck, even Nashville Superspeedway. The problem is 1) NASCAR/ISC owns these tracks and refuses to put any effort into making the races marketable and able to draw crowds ticket-option wise and 2) IndyCar, in itself could do a much better job in marketing their product, I mean for Gods sake, Jay Frye at one point was in charge of PBR and look how successful theyve been in terms of marketing...... anyway, this is my case to have IndyCar back at more ovals....
