Finally, the long-awaited moment has arrived!
We return to Kanto for a 90...ish minute epic! and by epic I mean methodical explorations of the Yellow arc of Pokemon Adventures (or Pokemon Special if your feeling fancy or Pokespe if your 12)
We are looking at not just the manga but as usual looking at the broader landscape of Pokemon as a franchise. The wait is finally over, unless you read this part while watching the video, then the wait has just started for Gold Silver and Crystal!

Yellow imo is the best protagonist ever in anything related to Pokémon ever. Girl was a zero to hero and she kind of has that "Gohan" feeling to her that you just don't ever see in any protagonist, it's usually "become the champion/bestest in da world", but Yellow? She had to become accustomed to battling, she had to adapt and overcome her fears so rapidly and against some of the most evil characters ever seen. Yellow is definitely one of my personal favorite female characters in fiction, and especially Pokémon.
Another foreshadow thing in the manga I would like to point out:
Professor Oak, in Agatha's flashback in this arc, was seen to use Kangaskhan's Dizzy Punch to beat up Agatha's Gengar.
Dizzy Punch is a normal type move. It shouldn't be able to hit the Ghost type Gengar.
The manga gave some weird bs explanation about understanding the spirits makes you be able to hit ghosts with normal type moves, but basically you can explain it as "Oak is so f good in Pokemon that he can break the rules of type effectiveness"
But if you look further....
In Gen4, Kangaskhan gets the ability "Scrappy".
What does Scrappy do?
It allows normal type attacks to hit Ghost type moves.
Exactly what was shown in this manga 3 generations before this ability was a thing.
The OG Elite Four will always be my favorite. They were OP as hell, and wanted to destroy humanity. The perfect combo!

I think one reason Yellow was disguised as a boy (not the reason in lore) is that back in the day Pokemon Adventures was still more a shonen-vibe manga.
Remember this is still in the 90s. If you suddenly just make the sequel story a female protagonist a cute young girl, the audience possibly wouldn't accept it too well.
But they still wanted to make Yellow the girl who was saved by Red in the previous arc, as that gives her actual motivation (and experience of battling with Pikachu) in this arc, which is a neat way of linking the story and shifting the protagonist to the next new character.
Since she was only revealed to be a girl like 3/4 into the Yellow arc, people who like her won't dislike her just because she's a girl. Instead, it makes more sense on some of her previous actions.
Who did the disguised woman idea first pokespe yellow or Metroid?

To clarify, Pokemon was not meant to end with the Gen 2, that's just a mistranslation that was spread as a rumor. There was no way they were ending the franchise while it was making so much money.
I think its more of a slight stretch.
Nintendo and GF the company knows this money train is too sweet to stop. Nintendo and GF the developers working on the game probably felt differently.
Its really normal for a game dev team to say "Hey I think we did all the stuff we wanted to do more or less. Lets work on a new game"
and the company and fans go "Hey you were really cooking with that last one... im gonna need more of that please"

Funny enough, Manga Lance really made N very awkward in the manga. Because N is really just a toned down Manga Lance.
They both are able to communicate with Pokemon, but Lance can heal Pokemon on his will on top to this ability.
They both hate human, but while N only just forces people to release Pokemon, Lance straight up commits genocide to set Pokemon free back in their environment.
In many ways, Lance is way more aggressive and outright "evil" compared with N. N really just went with Getsis's plans, while Lance straight up is the leader of the group.
In 100 years when I get around to the BW arc, ill remember this comment
N is supposed to be sympathetic and he's never really been portrayed as the antagonist (as far as I know, I haven't read that arc in the manga but have played the games). N is groomed and raised to be the "honorable" Pokemon savior, unlike Manga Lance who reached that aspiration through traumatic events; by BW2 (in the games at least) we're even fighting by his side seeing his redemption arc.
As far as I'm concerned they're fundamentally different characters with similar traits, hell I'd rather say N is a discount Yellow first before comparing him to Lance. I think it kind of fits since Yellow got the Princess Sapphire influences, while N is clearly made to be a virtuous princely character.

Agatha doesn't die. After she is seemingly knocked out, she uses Gengar to confuse Blue/Green and Koga. After Gengar loses, Agatha gives a short monologue and disappears in a swirl of darkness.

This video would probably be like 30 minutes less if the guy took the time to edit the video better. In the beginning he says take a drink every time he says hey you pikachu but you should take a drink every time he repeats a line because he can't take the time to edit the video properly.
You shouldn't take a drink every time I flub an edit because you would go to the hospital.
well arent the reason all yellow pokemon evolve because he sgtop them from evolving using pokedex? and since the pokedex fall to the lava then all of them start evolving?

Looking back, the stuff that Pokemon came out with to tide fans over while they waited for Gold & Silver was all super cool and in inventive, especially since they only really had 1 Gen to pull ideas from at the time.

Nice video! One addition: Graveler's evolution, though way overdue, might be a reference to trade evolution, as it was given to her by Brock.
Also, may I suggest using the original Japanese names for the rivals (Green is the boy and Blue is the girl), because in one scene in FRLG arc Red and Green traded their starters and remarked that they matched the colors in their names.
