Nice licks and a great vintage Status. Tone's a little trebly to my ear but that bass has a nice voice and you articulate it really well. Those open Es sound amazing

John Taylor Personally known and is Bass god.
John Taylor and Mark King were innovative bassist, probably not as revered for this as they should be because it was just top 40 pop music.

It could be argued that Duran Duran is a less sophisticated version of cult heroes Japan. The visual and musical aesthetics are quite similar between the two. Mick Karn, their bass player, has genre-defining originality and virtuosity. If you like John Taylor, you'll love Mick Karn:

I agree, both bands do have very similar musical and visual aesthetics but I find John Taylor and Mick Karn to approach the bass with very different perspectives. Love both of their work.
