  • Here's a brief description of my harvest of what is known as "Fatwood" Which is Resined Pinewood and the resin itself contains "Terpene" the main component of turpentine. Fatwood can be cut into small pieces of wood you can use as kindling to start a fire in a camping or survival situation. Fatwood is highly flammable and can be lit in wet conditions. Fatwood is a must for every camper or survivalist fire kit.

Besides the noisy cars going by, best fatwood Stump I've ever seen.....Looks like Wild and Wonderful West Virginia fatwood, more resin than wood. Where are you filming this video?

Hire a landscaper and have him saw that off. Dig it out a bit first. Then split it up with an axe. You need some chunks of this stuff, not just little chips!

thank you for leaving a comment. You are absolutely right but I am limited on tools to take on a big stump or root system. I am grateful for what I can harvest with the little tools I have. I will post a video soon of me extracting an entire root system from a small dead Pine tree. Watch for the video and thanks once again.

U said this tree was cut down a year ago?
Was this tree dead when it was cut down, because WHERE did the stump get all the Resins if their was NO tree above?

The tree was cut down because it was sick. The pine tree was infected with the southern pine Beatle and it was dangerously close to to a residential building. Just as soon as the tree was cut down it began to bleed out pine resin. Thanks for watching and there are many more videos that followed that one. Please watch them and share your comments. Cheers 🍻..

I do the same thing except I cut mine up on a table saw into 1 X1X4 inch long or similar size pieces , then drill a hole in the top so a string of paracord can hold the Ferro rod and Striker , I then collect the dust for fire starter , yours looks like a chopped up mess and short ,but I guess you know that

Yes I agree with what you are saying, but if you keep watching the videos you will see some awesome Fatwood projects I made using fatwood and soon to post on my upcoming videos showing many other ideas of what you can do with it. I am currently making face sculptures with some of my trophy 🏆 pieces I collected during my Fatwood Adventures. Thanks for watching..

@@EarthBlue2 I got a gold mine of this , pine trees all over the place , closest is 100 feet away , I got hundreds of them , I also have Red Cedar trees , same thing , hundreds of them , I'm going for Red Cedar tomorrow , I have already cut them down , time to cut the branches off , man oh man do they smell good , I am a woodworker and my woodshop is full of them already , some were cut over 30 years ago , I make anything and everything , I even turn them on my wood lathe ,
And Black Walnut although it doesn't have any Fat Wood in it but looks great ,
I like that name outdoor wilderness Wildlife Adventure , been on plenty of them
