- Manta, Orlando's newest roller coaster, opened early to guests at SeaWorld on May 6, 2009.
On hand were Director of Design and Engineering Brian Morrow, Director of Park Operations Tim Carrier, and Director of Aquariums Gary Violetta to share some insight into the design, construction, and operation of this new thrill ride.

omg i rode this on opening day i was one of the very first to ride this!!!!!!!! it was AWESUM!!!!!!!!!! i luveddddddd it
I've decided i'm going next year, so i can't wait to try this one out, my dad loves the rides, it will be my first time riding on these sorts of rides, so it should be a lot of fun lol.
it rocks i was just there. we were on the first train of the day. its amazing.

I just went there, and I rode in the front. SO SWEET
This ride is amazing. Incredibly smooth. Feels extremely secure. The feeling is unlike any other coaster.

I haven't been to Sea World for quite a while. The last time I went was when they just opened Kraken in 2000. Kraken is an awesome rollercoaster and it's good to see that Sea World is adding another awesome coaster. I would love for Sea World to keep making awesome rides such as this.
They're just doing soft openings now then they're closing the ride on May 20th for a special two day invitation only grand opening event and then the ride will be officially opened at the normal park opening time on May 22nd.
looove kraken & journey to atlantis, can't wait for manta!
this ride was so scary you drop down head first for like 5 seconds. my throat was hurting for 2 hours after this ride! the way that they make you face down makes it even scarier.

Manta by a mile in my opinion. The G's on that dive loop are just insane.
Actually, there is no such thing as "copying" in the roller coaster industry unless it is solely for themeing. Both Air and Manta (as well as other coasters such as Tatsu and Superman: Ultimate Flight) were built by designers Bolliger & Mabilard. The park orders a specific type of coaster, Flying Coaster in this case, and the designers creates a ride based on the specifications. The only way a park can "copy" a coaster is if they completely decorate it in the same fashion. :)
My favourite ride apart from Sheikra at Busch Gardens. Going to Alton Towers next weekend to try out Air!!

Yes, I definitely agree with you, hence why I called it SUF 1.5. I give it a few months or a year before the novelty wears off :)

Cause we were there and before we went back home we saw one hanging still at the top of the tilt..

Agreed there as well, not many coasters have a queue that can keep riders busy, especially with an aquarium. The music is epic too. I enjoyed the music they had that first week (Starting May 2nd). It seems they have slightly changed it up recently though. I no longer hear the choir of children in an part of it.

It kinda worries me..i'm going to sea world on Friday and planning to ride this, does it hurt your head?
I think back row is more thrilling because you can feel even slightest jerks and enjoy full speed of the rollercoaster

I loved this ride! Except the one I was scared about was the Dive Loop XD LMAO. At least I rode twice and try to get use to it! In my opinion I love manta better than Kraken xD Ik Kraken has a drop and crazy ass loops. But Manta feels AWEEESOMEEE!

As simple as i can explain it, 3g is your weight "feel" x3. 1g is your normal weight. 3 , is your weight x 3 feel. Its fun.
brilliant ride, g force is great. altho it broke down 5 times in 1 day...and its short
very dfferent to other rollercoasters, but i am stil not scared!!! will any coaster scare me???

i was in seaworld 4 days ago, i was thinking of riding it.....but CURSE MY FEAR OF HEIGHTS!! i'll ride next time
It's novel at first, but all it really is is Superman's Ultimate Flight 1.5. Trust me, I know since I've been on both numerous times.
All in all, it's a smooth ride, not really fast or tall at all. Pretty much the best part is last row going into the pretzel loop. Not much after that. I can see why people who don't like coasters would like this ride as it is more of a tame and smooth coaster ride.

too bad i live in fort lauderdale, all the good stuff is north florida, they need to put an amusement park down south here like in miami... never understood why they haven't since miami is one of the biggest tourist attractions...

Yeah. I haven't found a rollercoaster yet that actually excites me. I can't wait to go to Ceder Points, Top Thrill Dragster! I saw a picture of a girl that actually pee'd herself on it!

actually there are several clones of superman ultimate flight and this is not one of them.
i rode 6 times 2 days ago DO NOT go into this park thinking u will ride it waiting in a 1 1/2-3 hour line you either have to come at 8:00 1 hour early or do buy a quik que i rode it 6 times in 20 mins with the quik que!! best ride ever and manta is scarier the worst part tho is the upside down 3G loop it feels SOOOOO weird!!

Hahaha, it's definitely called a pretzel loop and not a dive loop at all. A dive loop is a totally different element...

Been on it, not worth going to Sea World for even if you live in Florida state. Its a good laugh as its a different rollercoaster experience. its slightly better than the other of its kind, Air and Tatsu. It fails in comparison to the giants of the world like the Hulk and Kingda Ka.
I went on it not that scary at all mostly enjoyable :D
Alot like Air at Alton Towers, UK. But Air is better!
