I work in a primary school. One of the Dads drops his year one daughter off on his electric long board. She stands between his legs with her arms wrapped around his legs. Both of them have the biggest smiles when they are riding. At school all of the staff refer to him as the coolest parent at school. The natural progression from a regular board to a e skateboard, for me, was encouraged by seeing the joy in both their eyes when riding.

    Hello again Scott!
    Informative review as
always! :) my extreme e-sk8board obsession definitely started about 22 months ago when school became in-person again after corona! Everyone had come back with electric sk8boards and was flying around like future people!!! It was so magical seeing them fly!! I NEEEEEED ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! If not from this giveaway, it will be with my own hard earned money after I someday pay off my student loans :,( I graduated about 3 weeks ago! :) and started working 2 days after I graduated😂 (graduation was saturday may 6, and I started working in an office that is a 10 minute drive from my parent’s house on may 8)

I was addicted to watching the downhill "raw run" videos. Especially the couple that were shot in/around Columbia. The thought of going that fast on a board was definitely drawing me in, but terrified me at same time. I had seen several ads for Backfire Boards and looked into it. Decided 35mph on an electric would be a bit safer than 70mph with no brakes. I've been through 5 boards since then. ESK8 has become my favorite thing in life.

As always love your work Scotty.
I grew up with either surf or snow as riding options, and was into long boarding as well.
While headed down to my favourite surf spot at 13th beach, a few guys were carving on the road ahead of my car and I thought nothing of it till they started going uphill!!! Game changer
I followed them for a bit and ended up having a chat. They were riding boards they had built themselves, and man were these things sketch.
But I jumped on one and I was hooked, haven’t looked back since!

@@scottdaviesyoutube yep. The same in Europe. And I would have to ship it to Germany and then get it to Slovenia, the country I am from. In the end I bought a Meepo V1, the original with red wheels and convex deck. That thing was incredibly sketchy to ride, it felt akin to riding a broom stick(handle) due to the convex shape. It also had a weak battery with tons of voltage sag. Basically every time I hit a crack in the street, it would pause for a split second then kick in with full throttle. Regardless, I fell in love with esk8boarding. Later I upgraded the deck to V1.5 and ESC to their V2 ESC and later evern to V3, which I coupled with the Sanyo ER battery. The board was finally rideable then.
Nowadays I use a Backfire Zealot S with cloudwheels. I miss the range of the Meepo ER battery, but I still get around 18 km out of it even if I ride aggressively.
Next purchase will be a mini board, either Tynee 3 or something with built in lights. I am a bit bummed I skipped on the Exway Wave Nasa. That board seems to be exactly what I am looking for.

I had no idea of electric boards last year. I have a couple of longboards which I use for downhill and watched a lot of downhill freeride videos. One day the video menu put up an "electric group ride" video which I thought was going to be all bikes. Turns out the guy leading the ride was on a big E board. I was shocked.that such a thing existed.....then the light turns green and this guy just takes off. Right then and there I knew I would get one. (I was like WTF?)
Found your channel and binge watched pretty much all your videos and learned about the different types of decks, motors, speed controls, and batteries. Took awhile to decide.
I started skateboarding in 84' as a kid, got into it again 5 years ago. Also rode and raced dirtbikes most of my life. Also been riding sportbikes most of my life. I also built a high horsepower crazy ass vintage Camaro. Point of this is that I got my 1st E-board April 13 or 14th and it is the most fun I've had in years. (I can't get off the thing, I just turned 800km a few hours ago.)
The E board is like a combination of my Car, RCs and motorcycles all in one and makes me feel like I'm 15 years old instead of 52. My family & friends think I'm nuts, but I think I got my niece hooked last weekend. I got the EoVan Carbon Silo with belt drive and so far no issues with it. Put harder Riptide bushings in it as you suggested and regularly run it at top speed.
Thanks for making the research a little easier. Best money I ever spent.

I'm not really looking to win but I do want this out there:
I got into eskates because I got a new job in which I cannot drive to anymore.
The train station is a significant distance away from home and taking the bus to there takes as much time as walking--around 20 minutes or more. Moreover, the bus schedule is unreliable--I was never certain if I was early or late when I get to the bus stop. Walking is fine if you're not pressed for time but that's more than 40 minutes I will lose every work day, 40 minutes that I'd rather use for more enjoyable things in life.
An eskate halves that travel time to the train station and I can also predictably tell which train I can catch when I get to the station.

One of the managers at my previous job was the owner of multiple Esk8 and Onewheel and one day at lunch, he asked me if I wanted to go for a ride. From then it was a daily meetup hehe!

I was skating when I was a teenager but now in my mid 30s I just wanna cruise around, enjoy the nature and the view around me. Just need to convince my wife to spend such a big money on a skateboard 😅

meepo has a serious product strategy problem, at this point there's no way to tell what you are actually buying from their website. they either release new stuff with incoherent namings and dich them immediately for another one or change specs early after launch without notice. plus all the never-released prototype reviews you find on youtube.

I was thinking about inventing it and then realized that it’s pretty much solid technology already 😂
So that’s what got me into it😋

Had heard about esk8 here and there but they were more toys back then . About 4 years ago I saw an add for evolve . And soon worked out they had become serious big boy toys . Just had to get one . Now have two and looking to get the whole family moving

I was a skater from way back when and wanted to get back into it. I was too unfit for kick pushing and my wife was sick to death of eboards popping up on her FB ads so she got me a boosted mini. What a woman..

I got into electric skateboards, because as a kid, there was an ad in Thrasher magazine for a proto type kit that would retrofit a gas motor to your existing skate. The kit never made it to market, but the seed was planted in my head for a motorized skateboard. Then around 2004 I saw some websites for ⚡️🛹⚡️s and kept an eye on things for 18 years until the price of the technology and my budget intersected.

I got into eskating when a friend of mine let me cruise downtown Phoenix with him. He is a twin and his brother was working so I got to use his. I was gifted an escooter and found myself riding with no hands and that has gotten me to really want to get a eskateboard.
