Thank you for your suggestion. We understand the challenges posed by Ahmad Javaid Sahib's sophisticated Urdu, and we have already provided subtitles for the key parts of our over three-minute long trailer. You can find these subtitles in both the trailer and the shorts/reels of this podcast. Translating philosophical content requires significant effort and attention to detail, which is why the translation of the trailer and shorts took considerable time and effort. We hope to have your support as we continue to work on translating this full podcast, as well as Ahmad Javaid Sahib's previous two sessions at OTS. Here are the links to those sessions:

I would highly appreciate Dr Amad Javaid, if he can touch upon the irrelavence of recent philosophical figures like Heidegger and his phenomenological approach of answering big question of Being. Almost all everything i see now can be traced back to Heidegger. Does his work like Being and Time have any substance, and can be used or have the potential to be developed further to understand religiousity and Religion

Eid Mubarak to Ahmad Javaid and to all his audience, the followers of this and his own RUclips Channel. Like everything else faith related, every ritual and every sacred event, the Islamic Eid is also about both stepping out and also stepping in: stepping out of the prison of time, the soul shattering chaos of the world that engulf us all irrespective of our standing or rank in this world; and, more importantly, a stepping in to re-collect, re-assess, re-awaken and re-member (remember). This Eid ul Adha is especially about the sacred virtue of sacrifice above all else, and what decent, meaningful and authentic human relationship can be devoid of it? Ahmad Javaid has often talked about the utter importance of relationships, both horizontally (with the world, with Manifestation) but especially "vertically" (with God, with the Principle) and rightly so. His lament has been that all relationships are now devoid of "sincerity" and when there is no sincerity in Faith/Iman, no other piety matters, as all the sages and saints of Islam have stressed throughout the ages, Imam/Hazrat Ali (AS) in particular who has said: "The pinnacle of faith is sincerity". I would add to that the virtue of sacrifice. Our relationships now lack sacrifice as well, or "sincere sacrifice". Everything is now commodity-like, including relationships, just as Marx had foreseen. Ahmad Javaid's other emphasis has been on prayer/zikr and what can be a better way to bring us back to that fitrah, to that state of natural goodness from which we have strayed away than prayer? So, pray for one another, for the old and the young, pray for your community and for the world that now seems to be on fire with what is going on in places like Gaza and Pakistan in particular. Prayer heals and this world is deeply in need of healing above everything else. Eid Mubarak to all! (Dervaish, Quetta walla)

Says Bruno Berard about Kant in a recent article:
If, in philosophy, there is a 'before an after Immanuel Kant (1724-1804), this is because he has inverted the meaning of intelligence (Verstand) and reason (Vernunft) as understood by all preceding philosophers: from Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus and St. Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, Dante, Leibnitz, Malebranche, and beyond, all said to labor under an illusion which he (Kant) alone was able to recognize and dispel! (What pathological hubris!)

Whereas modernism (often called modernity) says “God is abstract / is an abstraction; we are the real/reality”, authentic, revealed religions say, “God is the Real; we are the abstraction”. Cogito ergo sum ( “I think, therefore, I am”) said Descartes, the father of modern rationalism and of modern philosophy. Cogito, ergo Est ("I think, therefore God is” or "Because God is, I can, therefore, think") say the sacred religious traditions of man. This is the crucial difference.

Before Nietzsche, Kant-the so-called “philosophers’ philosopher”---said (in words to that effect): “We can never know noumena (things in themselves, things as they really are) because our perception stops us from having a pure and undiluted access to it. In other words, Ultimate Reality or God is impossible! What this sage of Konigsberg was saying amounts to this: “I cannot jump and slam dunk. So, there is no such thing as the sport of basketball!” (this is the famous epistemic turn of modern Western philosophy after which modern man became solely concerned with how questions of epistemology and forgot all abut ontology, which Heidegger tried to revive in the twentieth century). This man, Immanuel Kant, never left his small European town where he lived, never met a non-European, but was not hesitant, just like his predecessor David Hume, to pronounce Eurocentric and even racist evaluations of Africans and other peoples. The millennial traditions of Asians and Africans with their rich and diverse ways of knowing, doing and being amounted to nothing to him!

Dear we should refrain from hero worship as much as possible. instead we should be appreciating what's being featured rather than getting exhausted on missing the figures we have been idealizing
Sahil adeem, indeed an "intellectual", gets featured, like other social media figures, on a dozen of different channels and podcasts, which is inarguably great.
Don't exhaust yourself on one figure. Listen to varying perspectives and opinions . There's hardly a figure in the Asiatic religio- academic landscape, the stature of sir Ahmad Javaid. So closely listen to him. Let a few channels be exclusive Thankyou

Magar waqt ke sath aur unki baaton ko baar baar sunnay se, hamari zuban aur samajh behtar honay lagi. Yeh sirf unki zuban nahi balkay unke paish kardah pechidah khayalat hain jo samajhnay mein waqt letay hain. Hum ne isey madd-e-nazar rakhtay huay trailer mein English subtitles bhi shamil kiye hain. Umeed hai ke yeh subtitles aap ke liye madadgaar saabit hon gain.

    Ok. Lets see.
I am a philosopher and I can see this old fellow is talking too much non-sense. In the first part he talked about intellect. He described intellect and its limitations. He resorted to Kant's epistemology and several other western thinkers. I think he didn't understand Kant properly. He didn't put such limitations on mind and intellect. Kant proposed that we cannot know things in themselves but we can know only about phenomenon. In Western tradition, intellect is active and mind is more real than matter.
This fellow said mind have innate ideas. There is proof of such claim. Humans like other animals have certain instincts and sense and perceptual framework which is even not constant. He also stated that we have innate idea of oneness. This is again a false claim. There is no evidence to substantiate this claim. I think he has no understanding of anthropology and evolutionary psychology.
In the second part he talked about intellect through Quranic perspective. He proposed that definition of intellect that Quran provides "Intellect is ability to see things and through things symbolically". This logically entails human intellect is best in teleology. While there are several evidences proving that humans are very poor in teleology. We often assign biased views to symbols and causal relationships. There are even scientific papers on this.
The most non-sense thing he talked about is, people who don't believe in God are fool. I mean WTH. If you cannot prove a claim, you would say that other person is fool. In which intellectual tradition intellectual people do this. When you cannot substantiate your claim, call other person a fool. WOW.
I can go in details on various things he talked about which are non-sense. There are just flowery words, not philosophy. Is he even aware that in 20th century most of things he is talking about have been challenged and debunked.
Why Muslims thinkers have failed to evolve and why don''t they keep abreast with contemporary advancements? We haven't produced any intellectual in centuries.
Knowing history of philosophy does not means one knows how to philosophize.

@@MullBatoora-kf6cj My area of interest and research is phenomenology of time and mind. I haven't published my work as it is not finished.
Your guess is wrong. I am no follower of Kant. In fact I disagree with Kant's several propositions.
Please listen again at 1:00:18. He clearly stated several times that people who don't believe in God are fool. This is pathetic line of reasoning. If you can't prove your point, start abusing other person. When intellectually poor people fail to reason, they resort to violence. This old fellow is committing two fallacies in this talk. First is straw-man fallacy. He said things about intellect and disproved it. He either misrepresented or misunderstood the meaning of intellect.
Second is Ad hominem. Instead of disproving the argument(s) of people who don't believe in existence of God, he just calls them fool. This is quintessential example of Ad hominem fallacy.

Do you even know how unethical it is?

@1:06:20 "The Chinese are sub-human"! "How come? What do you mean by sub-human, janab?" "Well...they do eat pork, don't they?" This is logic of a kind I have yet to encounter. "Chinese are sub-human"! Really?
This is ignorance of the first order and very unfortunate coming from this otherwise informed man; it is either arrogance based on sheer ignorance of the Chinese tradition, metaphysical or otherwise, or ignorance based on sheer arrogance. Almost a century of atheistic communism has failed to completely kill the Taoist and Neo-Confucianist spirit in that major civilization of the world, a civilization that has long boasted and considered itself as the "center of the world", as "the middle kingdom" under the Heaven. Anybody who claims that either the authentic Chinese civilization, heir to Taoism, Confucianism and also Buddhism, is ignorant of the idea of God or of the Supreme Principle/ Ultimate Consciousness (the two poles, objective and subjective) just because Taoism and Confucianism/Neo-Confucianism do not use the same categories or the same language as the Abrahamic religions do to discuss those ultimate realities, or just because secular Western orientalists claim that Confucianist "humanism" is the same as modern Western atheistic humanism, is making a terribly faulty judgement, as our good speaker is also doing here in this lecture. Just a cursory look at the work of someone like Tu-Weiming, a contemporary neo-Confucian scholar, will reveal how wrong, if not arrogant, such pronouncements are: "the Chinese are sub-human!" For reference, try to read his work on the neo-Confucianist concept of "anthropocosmism". That alone should cure many of their intellectual malaise, of their bad cultural habit, that excite them to make such absurd claims like "the Chinese are sub-human!" Astaghfirullah!

Janab, Mohtaram: As has become your unfortunate wont, you never lose an opportunity to go by without passing a snide comment, expressing your unjustified contempt, and doing it rather casually, about and for everything Shia and Imami! This is very unfortunate, very unscholarly and unbecoming of you, really. It is obvious to any fair, informed and sane mind that the good part of the burden of preserving and enriching the Islamic intellectual traditions has fallen on the shoulders of the Shia thinkers, sages and saints ever since the invasion of the Mongol hordes in the Middle Ages. And you do so in the same video as you also praise giants like Mir Damad and Suharwardi as "the only original thinkers" and profusely cite none other than Mullah Sadra! Where else do you see robust traditional philosophy, integral theology and excellent traditional, sacred art being done, produced and taught if not in the main Shia lands of Islam today? It is not a coincidence that today, the very doyen of traditional Islamic philosophy, the only real master of traditional Islamic intellectualism itself, is none other than one called Seyyed Hossein Nasr, a Shia! The man has even been called 'the Fourth Teacher" by some in both the Sunni and Shia world. One would have thought that you had learned something from your mistakes after you did those scandalous videos on Gaza and Wilayat e Faqih in which you unjustly and clearly wrongly attacked Iran and the Shia views and practices. Difference (informed criticism) is one thing (and a good thing) but engaging in clearly misinformed, distorted and prejudicial polemic is quite another. I just hope you will pay some attention to this sorry habitual practice of yours next time. Thank you.
