You got the steps, but where's the SMILE, the STYLE, and the FUN? It looks like an exercise or a chore. Dance is about liberation of the SOUL,. Get HEP, Cats!
Whoa! First off, the Shim Sham was invented by a Black Native American named Leonard Reed. As a matter of he called it the "Goofus" in 1930. Dean Collins a jewish dude credited for bring the Lindy Hop to the west which is wrong. A brotha named Johny Peters did it 1910 in San Franciso and called it the Texas Tommy.
I'm looking forward to learning this version at a workshop in a couple of weeks, though how we're going to learn the whole thing in two hours, I have no idea.
ChristopherClarkArt Fritz lives in Austin now repairing bikes and Alex is in Paris being a chef. I haven't seen Fritz out dancing in several years and Alex still dances.
I've started learning the DC shim sham and I notice you have a different kick-ball-change as well as the 5,6,7,8. (Mine seems watered-down) Either way, I've had this saved forever and I really enjoy watching you guys! haha!
It's called the Blowout Lindy Weekend and it's in Pittsburgh this weekend. Kevin St. Laurent will be teaching this version of the shim sham.
Everything old is new again. Great job!
This song is called "Hep and Happy" performed by the Casa Loma Orchestra.
If you google "Glen Gray & The Casa Loma Orchestra" you will find tons of info and cd's for this song. I hope that helps. :)
Ugh. I'm still not getting that evil move.
Hey, it was nice to meet you over the weekend. Hope you enjoyed the workshops.

@snoogleboogies swing is about fun but it looks a lot better if you control your muscle movements.

Swing Dancing isn't about control, its about freedom, and fun. Also, this isn't a Tap Dance, it is a Swing Dance. No tap in swing.
It's the guy with the glasses who knows what he's doing.
What is this song?!
Great job !!!
Work on the outfits please.
The guy in the glasses was really good!
Great dance, however, why aren't you guys a little less joyful than you are on the video? ;)
❤
LMAO funiness
How to capture this song from this video: video2mp3
@snoogleboogies
lol, what's freedom without control? It's really the mastery to control your body while freeing your mind.
I can kinda see how this could be mistaken for tap dancing by an unknowledgeable viewer, which lifeOFeda obviously is.
woohoo!
