Hagakure being the UA traitor isn’t too surprising for me tbh. Her being invisible all the time is already sus enough since her facial expressions are a mystery, but have we seen her defeat even a single villain with her classmates? I mean she could’ve fought alongside to keep suspicions off of here but still, when has she really contributed when the villains showed up?

Out of all of the class 1A students, Hagakure is the most mysterious out of all of them. She is a complete enigma. We might learn more about her backstory and see her actual physical appearance in the future. Sure her being the traitor was rather predictable to most of the fan base due to her quirk being invisible and is a most obvious choice for spying purposes, but who knows maybe learning about Hagakure's character could be interesting as to her reasons of being the traitor and she might get some degree of character development down the road.

It could have only been Hagakure if you think about it.
The traitor reveal has to be emotionally impactful, so it had to be someone from Class 1-A. And out of everyone, Hagakure had the least amount of screen time, meaning she had the least emotional connection to readers; like, half the time, I forgot she was even there.
Hagakure was simply the safest choice.

Hagakure being the traitor has always fit the evidence presented. She was missing during the USJ attack and Todoroki was surprised he hadn't frozen her accidentally... because she wasn't actually there. She could sneak around campus and gather information without anyone being the wiser, like getting the class schedule or using her phone to alert AFO of the secret training camp in the forest. Shigaraki just happening upon Midoriya at the Mall did seem a little too much of a coincidence and it was Hagakure who suggested the class go out shopping together. It is possible that she decided to lay low until the decisive battle or maybe she was having second thoughts on her loyalties after being knocked out by the gas during the forest camp arc.
However her character has always been low-key and comical, she is barely even in the story so her reveal is seriously lacking in impact. But Horikoshi is likely planning on telling her story and doing something impactful with what she does, perhaps she jeopardizes UA's security or betrays Deku at the decisive moment. Sometimes it is good strategy to hold your ace in the hole until the last moment to get the drop on a tough opponent.
I've seen traitor theories for several characters, but no one really had the smoking gun proof. We still don't know much about Hagakure or what her motivation might be, only Horikoshi knows for sure!

    • @luckystarz5895
      @luckystarz5895 3 года назад +44

Personally, it strikes me that Aoyama is somehow aware of Hagakure's questionable intentions towards U.A. It's possible that the reason why he chose to work with her to develop his quirk techniques in past chapters is because he is subtly investigating her. Not to mention, that one cheese chapter with Deku and him. Someone (Not Me) had this idea that, the reason why Aoyama watched Deku through his window is because he was possibly checking if Hagakure's INSIDE DEKU'S ROOM AND PLANNED TO KILL OR SNOOP AROUND WHILE IN HIS SLEEP. Aoyama may not be able to do much in combat but he is highly perceptive of his surroundings, he must've planned ahead and spelled "I KNOW" with cheese so that he could weird out Deku and MADE HIM WAKE UP ON PURPOSE FOR HIS OWN PROTECTION. To Hagakure however, it could be as a way of him silently threatening her to stop whatever she planned to do since IT MAY NOT MAKE MUCH SENSE TO DEKU BUT IT IS ENOUGH FOR HER SPECIFICALLY, TO UNDERSTAND AND BACK OFF.
      IDK. That theory makes me so proud of my favorite C H E E S E M A N 🥳

My guess is that she's secretly a member of the Liberation Army since she's a mutant. She probably got bullied a lot for being invisible. Especially considering the fact that she has to get naked to do her hero work, which must've been humiliating for her.
And then you add what other commenters have pointed out. The fact that she's never seen her own face (that is assuming she isn't secretly hiding the ability to turn it off), which would definitely be a motivator to strike a deal with All For One. But I can definitely see her being developed into a neutral character. Think Kimblee if he wasn't a psychopath, but instead of just observing the chaos for fun, Hakagure wants to pick a side, but can't and she's confused. Now that'd a very interesting character.

@@ericahoff8386 another theory I have heard is that she did not like her appearance so she somehow got help by the great evil to get a quirk that would make her invisible, which explains why she acted a bit odd with telling tailman to not look at her. It also would explain why she is connected to the great evil as they most likely made a deal or is simply just a spy that is sent in place of the actual person.

She was among the most bland and generic characters and didn't stick out much.
In hindsight, this might have been a deliberate choice on Horikoshi's part.
Especially if you consider that he likes to weave character motifs deeply into their name and identity. It also works smoothly on a meta level to have the girl that's literally invisible to go by unnoticed and do something secretive.

I'm remembering a theory that states that Hagakure was actually with Ojiro during the USJ attack and was just lying about being with Todoroki to keep him off her trail. With this reveal, I now have to wonder: if she actually was with Ojiro, was she aiding the villains in trying to kill him, or did she simply stay back and watch, thinking he would tire out soon enough? Was she even thinking of delivering the final blow? Also, with how many times we've seen the two together since then, what does she think of him? Is he just a cover for her? Did he grow on her so that she would find it hard to hurt him? Will she become an actual hero because of him? Or does she view him as a potential threat and decided to get friendly with him in order to find out his weakness(es)? I'd like to see how their relationship plays out and what Ojiro's reaction would be should he find out.

Before ANYONE truly commits to the reveal. Remember Aoyama in Season 4 and everyone lost it. The traitor WILL be revealed. But JUST enough room for doubt remains for me to assume something like Hagakure caught the traitor. I am not convinced it’s her as there is no setup of her in comparison to other suspects. She has been out of sight out of mind a few times sure but her presence doesn’t make any last moments worse without SERIOUS exposition. And after SaS, I don’t think Horikoshi would commit to such an approach. I am simply not convinced on this because it’s so out of left field.
I am VERY familiar with mystery killers (my channel focuses on Phoenix Wright.) There is always established foreshadowing and if there’s a red herring, than it’s covering up something else. Which is my prime reason to suspect Nezu. Plus there’s also how much of a threat is the traitor WHEN they are revealed. Hagakure’s figure has been shown many times. It’s not supersized. So that means if she gets extra quirks, she would only be revealed to have them AFTER the doctor got arrested and from the looks of it, RIGHT after Deku’s meltdown. And the doctor is a key factor for that. I think Hagakure found the traitor and Horikoshi is pulling a fast one giving her a reason to come to the forefront as a character with meaning.

Let’s compare Hagakure to my suspect and you’ll see why it’s too soon with JUST how much is needed for Hagakure to be an established threat. And don’t forget AFO is now on a GLOBAL stage. So he will need “friends” that make that more possible.
Hakakure- been where people don’t expect them to be on a few occasions. Been looked at as a nightmare. And easily passed their final exam with absolutely no preparation from the teacher since he was targeting Shoji. Plus as a villain, they have no reason to get hurt by their true allegiance. This one HAS been hurt at the camp attack. Even if it was a fake, there’s nothing Hagakure could’ve added to the situation to make things worse. Even with AFO backing, there is so much that needs to be established in the upcoming chapters. It’s not a good reveal either. Now that she’s found what happens? She doesn’t stand a physical chance against so many people and doesn’t have the resources to be a threat til the genuine final battle.
Nezu- Let’s look at things that are established moments that could genuinely throw off the situation. Nezu stopped All-Might from going to the USJ instantly and kept him at bay for a while the league ran amuck. He is an established person to know about OFA in full detail (or mostly) yet all Nezu has done is get All-Might to UA. Unlike Recovery Girl who was very verbal to All-Might about the pressures he places on Deku. Nezu has said NOTHING about the subject and also was there to see All-Might’s injury and could’ve reported it elsewhere. (Which was 6 years ago and the villains are aware of it. Particularly the 1st movie villain. Along with AFO who COULD know where he impaled him out the gate but had no way to know how much the damage stuck. And I only say could because AFO’s face got blasted off so his memory might be fuzzy of the time.) Nezu in final exams was one of the 2 teacher tests that was specifically designed to fail the students. (Kaminari and Mina had the worst midterms and were paired against him so he could guarantee their extra classes to catch up. And All-Might was charged with humbling the fuck out of Bakugo so his ego stopped inflating and Deku gaining extra classes were nothing but a benefit to All-Might’s successor. But All-Might let them pass after Deku came back to save Bakugo.) Nezu than established his professionalism in chain reactions and knowledge. (Very similar to AFO’s explanation to Dabi about how he plans things.) And also Nezu has headed the investigation of the leak, cleared the students. And then he made some VERY questionable moves. UA’s defenses and Endeavor’s press conference. He told Endeavor to announce on live tv where the parents were staying for protection (the best hostages.) and this was the one where he said that Dabi was Touya. So if something bad happens to UA it falls on Endeavor. And also the beefed security although is SEEMINGLY for AFS (All for Shigaraki) the force of the apocalypse that is AFO and AFS can’t possibly be stopped since we saw weakened AFO level a freaking city INSTANTLY and Shigaraki the same. Making UA like a prison. Not a base.
If Nezu is revealed, he is a threat out the gate to literally EVERYONE in the school instantly and you KNOW how dangerous he’s been. I can literally look at the list of traitor suspects and say there are at least half a dozen better than Hagakure. AOYAMA would be better. It’s why I don’t like student suspects. Narratively none really work.

Agreed with your first paragraph is possible indeed, though imho I don't subscribe to the theory of it being Nezu personally. In defence of the Hagakure theory, however, there are plenty videos pointing out the very convenient and clever omittance of Hagakure from major moments in the story. It does look like a planned creative choice to have her overlooked in the story to be the traitor, rather than as a neglect of her character as some fans are saying (note: I'm not saying whether it's a good choice or not, just that I think this is planned feature of the story rather than a bug). I also reckon that BNHA is a lot less of a mystery genre and doesn't have to subscribe to those conventions (otherwise eg Dabi's identity wouldn't be so guessable with surface close reading). To me it seems like Horikoshi's mysteries are more of an "Easter egg" for rewarding readers who do close reading, and it also fits with a vibe that it's not so much the identity that is important, but the fallout / cascade on events in the story later on - the butterfly effect/cause-and-effect kind of impact. To each their own though, it's great to have different genre lens examining, evaluating and interpreting the story!

@@user-jy8zb2wc8l there are a NUMBER of suspects. Nezu is mine for the reasons I left as a reply comparing to Hagakure. But here are some others that can work. Present Mic (for Kurogiri while being the best damn 4th wall break EVER.), Vlad King (blood quirk have only been seen in villains, and he is a very flawed man that let his own biases leak into Monoma while also shown to be getting info on students directly AFTER final exams rather than at a semester start) , Momo (metric crap tons of money come from somewhere and blackmail could always be a factor), Uraraka (destitution is one hell of a motivator to escape.) ALL of them have more established reason than Hagakure. Some accusations have lessened over time. Some increased. Vlad King has gone up a few notches. Uraraka has gone down since she is working at Ryukyu’s and likely being well compensated all done outside unscrupulous manners.
There are MANY possibilities to consider. Hell Aoyama and his mystery matching quirk that doesn’t fit his body. Or Kaminari just deciding to break his stupid rule one time for no reason in the sports festival.
ALL of them imply an act, outside help, and many other factors MORE than Hagakure wasn’t where we thought she was. I’m just on the full Nezu train because there’s SO much.

Just because it's typical for a treacherous character to be someone heavily involved in the story before the reveal doesn't mean Hori has to do that necessarily. He can do something interesting with Hagakure NOW. Him holding out on us about her character until now isn't bad writing. I am just glad the 1A fodder is being put to use somehow.
As I see it, it's not necessary that we must be hurt by her being a traitor for it to be fun -- perhaps that is the point! I don't think Hori even expected us to be heartbroken over it. Realistically, Hori had never left any room for a prominent 1A student to be the traitor because we have gotten their inner thoughts about what motivates them to be heroes. I'd say other than Hagakure, only Shoji, Ojiro, Sato or Aoyama could have been the traitor because we either only know their motivations on a surface level or not at all.

Idk who said it but it's something like "if I or anyone who is or gain the ability to be invisible we will fall to evil intentions" which makes sense. Invisible girl is so unnoticed and isn't used as much as others it only serves to question "what is she doing or where is she now?". All she has to do to fully be invisible is remove clothing, a life of being invisible while wanting to be seen must be hell, no one would be able to even read her emotions all the while seeing others do the bare minimum of human contact. Yeah. Tohru is not the traitor. She followed Aoyama and know the truth. For people who don't know, Navel Lazer is not Aoyama's Quirk. He was original quirkless before All for One gave that to him. He was forced to be a traitor by his parent. And now he confessed to Deku. After all, Aoyama is not truely a villain. He is just a poor boy that want to live with happiness

Watch it be a fake out next chapter. Everyone is jumping the gun, which is exactly what a mangaka of a popular series would want in a cliffhanger. I'm not shocked by this possible reveal. I mean it would make sense for the traitor not to draw any attention to themselves, hence why she wasn't put forward much until now. This could mean we would get to know more about her backstory and why she could have made the decision to side with AFO (apart from the fact that almost nobody sees her... ?).
... Or there could be two traitors and the author is leading us astray with the most obvious one before a twist comes up later on B)

tbh I think Horikoshi might be messing with us, that or there's something more going on with her than her just being a straight up traitor. She's just seems like way too easy of an option and the reveal is too straightforward. There's also the fact that it says "is the traitor really H..." at the bottom which still leaves some uncertainty. It's impossible to deny there's a connection, but I'm really hoping that this isn't what it seems.

I just saw the recent chapter and invisible is not the traitor so ignore this 💀💀💀💀💀
Hints that invisible girl was the traitor
    1) she told class 1-A to go shopping at the mall where surprisingly shigiraki was waiting for deku
    2) during the USJ she told ojiro that she was with Todoroki during the attack and Todoroki himself didn’t even notice her there. Also isn’t it weird for her to just watch her classmate deal with all those villains by himself without even helping or letting him now she was there ( I mean he didn’t need her help anyway but still 😂😂)
    3) The only time we see invisible girl in action is during class training and the other school events. When it comes to villain attacks she is nowhere to bee seen or is just doing nothing besides the time she was knocked out by gas during the summer training thing they did in season 3
    4) Her quirk in general makes her suspicious. She could go whatever she wants and no one would know unless she makes some noise or something. Also we can’t see her face we have no idea how she is reacting to stuff. Just imagine when the USJ attack happened she is just standing there smiling because shigiraki showed up.
    5) during season 3 there was one part where they showed class 1-A sleeping after a long day of training when they showed the girls I don’t even think invisible girl is even in the room. I think after showing that they showed Aizawa and Vlad king talking about a possible traitor. What if she was listening in on them then she told the league to come

  • @ajn_rules_5074
    @ajn_rules_5074 3 года назад +10

I'm just saying, there could still be multiple traitors in UA besides Hagakure, I still think Aoyama is a traitor and Denki is still a maybe for me. God, I just didn't think they would reveal it just like that, unless Horikoshi is trolling, but idk.
It makes sense though, she was completely sus during USJ, she had everyone go shopping CONVIENTLY where Shiggy was to meet with Deku, everyone but her (And Aoyama) did their little connect speech with Deku to stop him from running away. Plus, Aoyama also been sus with USJ too, the whole "I know" could have been him effing with Deku, and there was some ominous Horikoshi art of him. So, if all this is true and no cap, I feel those 2 are 100% traitors, maybe Hagakure is controlling/influencing Aoyama to betray everyone too. Maybe she's a secrete mastermind like AFO at this point.
The other thing is, I don't blame her, image being invisible all your life, that sucks. Also, AFO can easily help her if she does his bidding. Also let's be honest, we don't even know if she's really teenager or not, she could be an adult for all we know since we can never see her. I really hope Horikoshi makes us care for her more cause up till now, she's been pretty irrelevant and just comic relief. Still hoping Denki is still innocent, but who the ef knows at this point. One last note, I feel the same as Dabi/Touya, I just want to see him do stuff lol.

I wished they could explain how quirk mechanism really works and tell us more bout it instead of spamming any random useless one moment quirk and then gonna get irrelevant. The villain written poorly that relies majority on family and emotion which is sucks. The main villain shigaraki I sense some heavy inspiration from meruem in HxH. They also used some popular line from gintama which is used by shimura,it's "orewa tada kowasu dake da". Power systems=nen from HxH but without any depths, quirk=2/10 rating meanwhile nen=9.9/10 rating. I know she was designed to be unnoticeable or forgettable but I almost forgot her every time i start reading that not makes only mha universe but us readers too responsible for her to betray ua (we can’t control stories but we all can accept that we 95% of the time forgot her existence while reading/watching the series)
She most likely was insecure about her being invisible. like my man mineta the most cultured man in class never appreciated her curves
And if u see as a normal teenager’s view its a curse more than a gift
She always tried to grab attention but almost every time she fails like she was the only one who agreed on cheering in the lewd dress
She is the only one who can betray class 1 but it is still unacceptable like if mangaka had shown deku as traitor I would have accepted it but no don’t kill the innocent and lovely soul of my girl

Another thing, if we’re suiting up for this to be the final arc of MHA, Dabi’s reveal was a thing, Mirio and his quirk returned, Deku unlocked all of his quirks in OFA; these have been many of the biggest plot points in MHA for the last 2 years, but that still leaves one very notable plot point…
    All Might’s death.
It’s coming, we all know it is. Nighteye’s (miss that character 😔) visions were stated to almost always come to pass with a very small margin of error, and All Might’s avoided death’s scythe several times lately, namely his car being sniped by Lady Nagant, and fortunately he left unscathed. But the heroes are now in their most vulnerable spot, and with Hagakure right there; I’d be inclined to think that her unveiling as the traitor…she’ll pull off some cheap stunt and kill All Might right then and there. Like really, we got All Might’s death blatantly told to us several volumes back and since then many characters have died before him, including Nighteye, Curious, Midnight, HALF the top 10 heroes and several others were decayed, and now Star.
Albeit, All Might hasn’t been on the battlefield where those deaths took place, but he’s on borrowed time, and what better way to signify Hagakure - not necessarily doing something useful - but SOMETHING important to the plot at ALL then showing up, attempting to attack the students, and then baiting Deku to send an attack at All Might meant for her, and then THAT kills him. It’d give a reason for readers to feel anything toward Hagakure, cuz I feel that even Aouyuma means something to most readers in his own cringey way. The existence of Deku’s Vestige World means this wouldn’t be the last time we see him, but I think it’d hold some weight if All Might’s death comes at this point, right before the final battle.
    But maybe that’s just me.
