    THANK YOU so much!. I am working on my airbrushing skills and got this kit for the very purpose of practicing on. I was looking for simple (once you know the tricks) and cool design. I will be working on masking and spraying this tomorrow.....OUTSTANDING!

      Thank you ! I am really happy that you find my content valuable. I wanted to make this Supra look good with less masking compared to the Porsche 911 GT3R Hybrid. Initially, I thought about making a carbon hood and roof, but I finally went for simplicity, and it did the job! Good luck with your project and I hope you will enjoy working on this kit! let me know either via email or here about your progress :)

    WOW! super awesome job on your Livery mixing the Japanese heritage with the CASTROL LIVERY was a great success i especially like how you made the tires look weathered and the exhaust pipes look like when they get used the blue and gold very nice touch! but the black that is in the body lines is a talent i don’t have very accurate and steady hands 🙌🏻 my friend! what’s next ?

      Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked the blend of Japanese heritage with the Castrol livery. It was a fun project, and I'm especially pleased with how the weathered tires and exhaust pipes turned out. The black in the body lines was definitely worth applying. I thought about using grey in the body lines as I was afraid that black would be too eye-catching, but it turned out pretty nice. Next, I'm planning to work on a Revell Porsche 356 model kit with some LEDs! I will put my effort into the electrical area, then focus on the livery. I hope it will be fun to watch as well! Have you seen my other projects? Which one do you find the most interesting to watch? 😀

      @@AdHocCars have you ever thought of doing a F1 race car? like a 1988-90 mclaren mp4 that Ayrton Senna drove with the Marlboro Livery ? that would be so cool. anyway just thought i’d ask have a great day

      Hi Chris!Frankly speaking, some time ago I considered buying an RC F1 car from Tamiya to see how they drive. Also, one of my friends asked me to build him an F1 model car. At that time, I couldn't find any in stock at a reasonable price. After your question, I started looking again, and there aren't many to choose from. Most of them are discontinued, out of stock, or just a bit too expensive. So, I would like to buy and build an F1 car, but I will monitor the market to find one to build.Thanks for asking and reminding me about F1 model kits! Have a great day! 😀

    Great recovery on the minor issues like the decals. This turned out pretty incredible, all the paint scheme effort was well worth it. Totally looks like a privateer car that could have been in Super GT at the time.

      Thanks a lot! I am pretty happy with the overall result. There are some issues here and there, like minor decals, but I'm quite happy with how the rims and the exhaust turned out. As someone told me, we are always our own worst critics 🙃

      @@AdHocCars it's okay and totally understandable to be frustrated with those issues. You recovered well like I said where you were able to and made the best of it I think; you finished and it's a nice model as you correctly point out. I know it's not exactly what you hoped for, I think we all shoot for perfection, so I completely get it. But it's still a great addition to your superb collection of hard work.

    Great work!
    Oh, I've had decals peel off before too.
    But you didn't give up. That's amazing!
    One of the things I like about your work is filling in holes.
    It was fun to watch you carefully fill in the depressions in the hood.
    By the way, does your painting environment produce any dust?
    My painting environment produces an incredible amount of dust, so it's difficult to apply a glossy paint job.

    • @AdHocCars
      @AdHocCars  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! I'm glad I'm not the only one who experienced this. 🙃 Actually, I didn't have any other idea on how to fill those gaps that were initially planned for air vents. I took a PLA sheet, measured, and cut off two pieces, then tried to fit them. The thing I would change, probably, would be the putty. Next time, I would go for epoxy since the regular one shrinks a lot! I needed to apply it a couple of times to get the correct smoothness, and even after many layers, it's not perfect, so you can still see the edges... but lesson learned. 😀
      I have a lot of issues with dust in the spray booth! I tried spraying the interior with water, then moistening paper towels, and vacuuming the filter... it's actually impossible to get rid of it. 🫣 I've seen some spray booths with a water cascade. Maybe that would do the job, but... they're a bit expensive. 😀

    A question, if I may: I am not used to Tamiya acrylic paints. I find that they dry "soft" compared with enamels which dry hard.
    With Tamiya acrylics, are you supposed to then apply layers of clear coat to protect the underlying paint before polishing and buffing?
    I've tried polishing the paint directly with the result in one place down to the undercoat which I won't bother trying to fix.

      Hi John, sure! I'm happy to answer. :) When it comes to acrylic paints, I cover them with a clear coat only when applied to the car body. If I paint other parts with them, I don't take this additional step. I've read some tips that it's always better to cover them with a clear coat as it protects the paint better from dust or fading, but I don't find it a must-have since I don't build roadsters that dust can easily lie on the seats. Also, I don't find it necessary to cover the chassis parts with a clear coat. When it comes to the car body, I always apply a clear coat. That clear coat fills the uneven surface of the base color, and with polishing afterward, you can achieve a really nice glossy finish. 😀 Actually, I haven't heard of the approach of not covering the base color with the clear coat (regardless of the type of base color), but it might be that I'm missing some knowledge as well. :)

    How long do you put your decals into the water,? I dont know how long and my usually off.

    • @AdHocCars
      @AdHocCars  2 месяца назад +1

      I leave the decal to soak until I see it starting to come away from the backing paper. This can take about 10 to 40 seconds but it all depends on the decal's size and shape :)
