SS: one of the things about being unhoused is that a lot of time you spend outside, so you may not be in the same sort of circumstances in which people pass Covid maybe you are, I don't have, we don't have figures as to how many unhoused people have died of Covid. We do know that there's been some cities that have been pretty good about putting folks up at least temporarily.

As a homeless counselor and case manager/outreach worker. I can truly say with all my heart that homeless people are 10 times smarter than anti-vaxxers. Not only are they smarter but they are grateful that you helped them get the vaccine.

Just like when people say “help our homeless or our vets, not refugees.” They’ve had centuries to help our homeless, but will use them as an excuse to be xenophobic, then when a shelter or affordable housing is proposed, they say, “Not in my neighborhood/ with my tax dollars.🙄 Sadly, the same crony capitalism that makes Americans homeless or combat veterans, also makes refugees out of Latin Americans, Iraqis, Syrians, Afghans & Haitians.

Exactly this. Any anti-vaxxer I've ever heard or talked to always give off a real NIMBY vibe, they want nothing to ruin their perfect little lives, whether it's vaccines or homeless people. She'd absolutely love it if they were dead in a mass grave someplace.

I think she's also maybe genuinely, up until that point, unaware that the unhoused are supplied vaccines. That's illustrative of the fact that this is a serious enough pandemic that in a system that is nominally prohibitively expensive, the homeless are inexplicably vaccinated for free. That should blow her mind. If it just was about population control or political posturing, do you think "they" would take the time to vaccinate unemployed and unhoused people at great expense for no profit?
@jshowa o Certainly. The covid response truly surprised me in a positive way, and changed my perspective on government. Having had ACA/Obamacare health coverage also changed my mind. For all of the shit talking I heard about it, it was remarkably easy, and I got treatment almost anywhere I went without significant copays or unexpected charges. I'm all in for government healthcare for everyone. I think they've done a fine job, when unobstructed by opposition politics.

I think she's objecting to stay at home mandates, in that the homeless don't have homes to stay in, and there's plenty of them still alive, so, obviously, staying at home isn't a necessity.

It might seem minor, but it’s important going forward to remove ‘homeless’ from our vernacular, and replace it with ‘unhoused’;
Being ‘homeless’ implies you’ve some natural deficiency, that you’ve made a mistake. ‘Unhoused’ is a much more appropriate term; You’ve got a problem, and we have an easy solution.
I literally can’t see the difference between these two words.

When you say (and you're mis-quoting...perhaps intentionally), they say "Covid is fake" -- I just wanted to clarify at least for your viewers because I'm pretty sure you already know: People are saying that the "Pandemic is fake" not "Covid is fake" - can you at least acknowledge the difference?
I don't think there is difference between the 2 words and both words go hand in hand. You can't have a pandemic without a virus. Typically a virus has a potential to be a pandemic when it spreads rapidly over large populations and continues to spread elsewhere over great distances. In this case we are in the middle of a pandemic because of the Covid Delta variant virus that has spread even more rapidly.
@@VarnaSaga Never thought about it until OP brought it up, but clearly the distinction in their minds is that the evidence of the _existence_ of the Sars-Cov-2 virus and COVID-19 disease is undeniable. But they don't think the evidence is there to claim it amounts to a pandemic.
There _is_ a semantic difference. Slightly. I don't have much patience to give that much of a shit, though. Either claim is equally unfounded and reckless. The disease and the pandemic both undeniably exist. The scientific method proves both, they're just picking and choosing how much of the evidence they want to believe with no expertise.
