Angelina just sang live in a club, “Bad Valentine” a new song by Toby Gad, and though it hasn’t been officially released, Toby has given permission for it to be played on RUclips. I be been listening to Angelina for years, but have never heard her sing a song like this. It’s amazing, please do a reaction to it. Thankyou for your continued coverage of Angelina’s songs.

My understanding is that it was Angelina’s song, and Toby has helped her with it. They are continuing to work on other songs together. I think Toby kinda likes Angelina!

Yes they apparently cowrote the song. I don’t think it’s a Toby Gad song. It seems that all the big hits he’s involved with are songs he cowrote, not sings where he’s the sole writer.
So many feelings, yet so hard to describe in words. Her intimate, vulnerable, almost spoken lines immediately followed by a full belt also speaks to the remarkable control she has of her instrument. I noticed her vocal fry, which she sprinkled throughout this performance, grabbed you viscerally. And yes: you heard string synth in addition to the cello you could see, creating the sound of a full string section. I'm glad AJ & Toby Gad have teamed up and hope to see some incredible original songs as a result (just look at Toby's track record!).

A cover only in the sense that what Beyoncé made was a cover of the song written by BC Jean and Toby Gad, originally performed by Jean in 2008. Beyoncé's cover was that same year.
In this video the pianist is Toby Gad .. the Piano Diaries are a celebration of his hit songs. He invited Angelina to England with him to perform .. this is the sixth version I have heard. I am not sure if it is really a cover when a singer is standing next to the composer as they jam to create a different version of the song.

This cover is glorious, it lets her voice absolutely shine. Thanks to Toby for asking AJ to sing this reinvented cover of his song for his Piano Diaries album. Toby is quoted saying, “Working with Angelina has been nothing short of inspiring. The way she can sing a single word, the subtle influctuations, the tone changes, the emotion she can convey with a whisper or vocal fry is just stunning. The artist she reminds me of from my youth (not in her actual voice but in how she conveys such profound emotions) is Linda Ronstadt. And I mean that as a compliment to both. I love what Toby and Angelina did here.

Just to let you know, the other co-writer of the song, BC Jean, was the first to sing the song as well as the person the song came from. The man that she was in love with had just broken up with her. Per Toby, he played it for Beyonce one day and she really wanted to sing and use this song, and the rest you say is history. Angelina and Toby have been working together for a while now and are creating new music for her to sing. Toby Gad will be appearing at The Vibrato in LA this Thursday June 20 for Piano Diaries Live. Some of the artists that appear on the album will be performing with him. I think it’s still not confirmed if Angelina will be able to make it. She has been in Europe. It would be a real shame if someone else sang If I Were a Boy. It would be another great opportunity for more exposure for Angelina and to promote her version.
Some have said she will be there but have not cited where that is confirmed.

At the piano is Mr. Toby Gad himself: one of the co-writers of this song back in 2008, The other one was BC. Jean who was also the first one who performed it. Beyoncé was the second singer who took it on, also in 2008. There is also a more pop-like version of this song with Angelina (filmed and produced by Toby Gad...), but to me this is the most beautiful of the two. That's just a matter of taste: both versions are very good.Toby Gad and Angelina are working on some new songs for Angelina so... lets wait and see what's happening. The first one is "Bad Valentine", which is on line already. It seems that Angelina is running full speed into her career as an adult singer now.

Jean years ago, That Toby asked Angelina to reinvent for his Piano Diaries project.At the ened of the month Angelina is releaseing this song with other songs her and Toby are working on now. Toby is playing the Piano in this one. Afyter Toby wrote this Beyonce Begged him if she can cover it. Thats How Beyonce' got into the mix. Toby chose Angelina to sing this for him not Beyonce' cuz Angelina's version is much better . so please check your facts before you call something a cover ?
