Let's be real. If the class wierdo was creeping in the forest taking photos of you and your girlfriend in the bedroom, shit would go down. Steve wasn't the nicest guy in S1 but I think he was decent. Especially how he redeemed himself at the end of the season. Steve showed he was a decent person.
I dont think Steve acted horrible at all really. It was his douchebag "friend". At least he's not over the top like Billy. Jeez. That really took me out of the show but I guess they were going for the over the top 80s bully?? Either way it was too much.
Yeah, S1 Steve didn't go full douche, he kinda went halfway, and a lot of it was his stupid friends driving him to act like that, and teenagers make stupid choices to maintain a certain image. They began his redemption by the end of season 1, and this year he was a lot better. Based on their comments, I think Billy is what the Duffers originally intended Steve to be, except much worse.
Yeah. And I love how they didn't just keep him being a stereotypical douche in s1, that gets eaten by the monster. Instead he saw what he did wrong, and wanted to do better. The show didn't have him fall into evil, controlling bf.
caomhan84 Yeah, in an interview Keery did awhile back he said in the original scripts Steve was going to force himself on Nancy at the party. But they ditched that idea. Sounds like Keery had a lot to say on how his character developed from what the Duffers had originally intended.

I love how the last few events of S01 totally changed Steves personality. It started with ditching those 2 negative losers, sticking up for Nancy, Seeing a monster for the first time..freaking the fuck out, run away..and then decide to come back inand help, and then end the season with him giving Jonathan a new camera. Honestly Steve along with Dustin and the others was a delight
I love this character so much right now, In s1 he was only a jerk, the king of the school and whatever, and now he's the babysitter of the group and a big brother for Dustin, I'm living for this development

I'm not sure, but it is kind irregular to make such an awesome "popular guy" turn out this way. Isn't it? I was cool with Steve at the end of season 1. I think Nancy and Jonathan are a better couple but as a character I find that I think Steve is cooler. This season he became one of my favorites. Epic dude. Labyirnth II yeah, it’s definitely irregular but people like Steve do exist. They’re the most popular guys in school and they do stuff to fit in, but they’re actually willing to help other people, even the nerds.
As shown in S1, Steve is that guy because he could have definitely taken advantage of Nancy with how vulnerable she was, but he clearly had a lot of respect for her and treated her right (up until he thought she was cheating on him).
