The world is full of coincidences. I love to watch your videos of you on your pleasant patch of green English land. I now live and work in the uk and today I was surprised to see you in the Adelaide hills where I grew up. Visited my Dad in Mt Pleasant, SA at Xmas. Hot and dry in the high 30’s/low 40’s at that time. Hope you loved it there. By the way, our brother has picked up a bit of an Aussie twang. Cheers Max for your great video content.
OMG I love HK I worked out there for 6 months on the new Peak Tower!! When we were there it was a building site and we had to come down from the top of the building NO SIDES on the stairs! NO lifts! Please dont go moving to Kangaroo land - England needs you! Often thought about having a go at one of these when/if I find a bit of land to play around on.
I was going to say how wierd it is to see you in the modern world amongst airplanes and buses, but then I read your video description about your microphone that you found in a skip, back on form, oh and you still got to plod around in a landy 👍👍👍
Spotted the swag sleeping bag to the left of the punch bag in the work shop. Happy memories of sleeping in the bush with just a swag and the stars to look at
Wow, who would have thought it, applying your skills on the far side of the world. I take it your not to keen on flying? Another great video Max, great to see you back as we missed your calm teaching manner.
Well done all......makes you have complete respect for those chair bodgers of High Wycombe that churned out top quality work in the forest on pole lathes....
I moved from uk to Hong Kong 7 years ago , only about 30% is build up ,the rest is mountains country parks and the most amazingly hiking trails , when you are in the mountains it's hard to believe that you are in one of the most densely populated place on earth..!..!
Been waiting for a new vid from you for ages mate, watched all your other vids. so glad you got to make this with your brother mate.Given me ideas to make one with an electric motor.
great to see you back online again! you have a very cool brother; he seems to share your talent for fabrication. maybe he needs a channel. beautiful Landrover also.
My dad made a huge one of these 20 years ago, using an old Singer treadle machine table, so he could turn some legs for a dining table he wanted to make. I don't have access to the photos unfortunately. He used to go out and stamp away at it like fury whenever one of us annoyed him. I swear that table would have sat 72 had he ever finished it.
Have you seen Mike Abbots chair making? I went on his chair making course a few years ago and came home with a very nice ash chair! He’s a lovely guy 👍🏻
Peas in a pod, looking good Max. Pleased to see you on your feet again Max. Thoroughly enjoyed the project with just a 'little' blacksmithing involved. atvb t ..
So I was thinking 'There's something so very familiar about this video where Max flies around the globe to do a project... but WHY is this so familiar? And then I realised, this is 'Max does Blue Peter assignment'! My suspicions were confirmed when a prefab tool rest appeared ("Here's on I made earlier") and I knew for certain when Max hit his thumb with a hammer and he didn't say F###!! (or was that just the gash mic not picking it up?) Brilliant video Max, as a reward I think you should forge yourself an Ironthumper version of a Blue Peter badge :)
Just made a similar trip to see my own brother, though he is near Perth WA, and I think you might have been near Nairne, SA. A great place, should have emigrated years ago.
Ahh man you bro has that Straya dollar! In my 2 year working holiday there i found that they practically throw money at you for honest blue collar work
Ayup, the old bodger's lathe. Goes back to the Romans, possibly Egyptians. Put a head frame over the bed and you can use an old bow or bungee cord for the spring. I saw a treadle lathe long ago. Guy used a bicycle for the drive. Back wheel was the fly wheel and pedal was hooked to a treadle. Kept the gearing so he could run it at different speeds.
I wonder if you incorporate a mechanism that takes it away from the blade on the back stroke like a spring mechanism of sorts, just a thought. great video
I know this was a while ago but welcome to Australia any way. Hopefully you enjoyed your time here. Marc from Australia
Only just stumbled across this one somehow... 5 years after publication! South Australia is a fine state. Hope your bro and wife are well!
Love brothers working together. Lost mine 7 years ago. Miss the times together.
'We are going to look at the picture and copy it'. I live my life by that rule. Cheers

Watch out for their tap water. They fluoridate the s5it out of it in Australia.
It absorbs trough the skin too.
Well, it will keep his teeth strong and healthy. Gen. Jack D. Ripper was wrong when he declared it a Commie plot!
